Conservatives Trash God Bless America!

Share
THEY’VE GONE TOO FAR

When conservatives beg God not to bless America because America is not living up to their personal standards, something is wrong, somewhere.  I don’t think it is God.  I don’t think it is the United States, so that leaves only one group – conservatives!

A MINI RANT
One thing I’ve learned is never, ever to take anything that says “conservative” or “family values” for granted.  After nearly two years of research I’ve learned when you smell a rat, always wear gloves, put a clothes-pin on your nose, and start digging through the fecal matter.  This story is no exception.  It is also one you’re not seeing on the conservative blogs or hearing the conservative MSM of Rush, Hannity, Ingraham, etc.

A “new” version of God Bless America which is more like God Curse America was performed at the Values Voter Debate last week.  I have the full version here.  It is sickening.  The worst thing is no-one even spoke up about it or had the courage to protest.

I was on the phone talking to my mother this afternoon when I found the lyrics.  I read them to her.  Her comment, “Sounds like some Nazi would come up with that.”  She was so close to the truth it isn’t even funny.

THE STORY
They declared that all good Christians who value their nation and all candidates who care will be there…naturally Joseph Farah was involved. Pro family leaders attending were:

“…Pro-family leaders who’ll be asking the questions include: Star Parker, of the Coalition on Urban Renewal and Education (CURE), Bobby Schindler, of Terri’s Fight, Don Wildmon, Chairman of the American Family Association, Tom Scott, President and CEO of Sky Angel Television Network, Paul Weyrich, President of the Free Congress Foundation, Judge Roy Moore, Chairman of the Foundation for Moral Law, Rabbi Aryeh Spero, of the Jewish Action Alliance, Richard Thompson of the Thomas More Law Center, Brent Bozell, of the Media Research Center, Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt, who fought for the right of Military Chaplains to pray in Jesus name, Vic Eliason, of VCY America, who will be broadcasting the event live for radio on Satellite, and Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel….”

The Value Voters Debate
from Talking Points Memo, something you aren’t going to see the conservative blog world and media cover – and it is the most disgusting and deplorable thing I’ve seen.  And – these sick conservatives applauded!

That’s it.  It’s now war.  I’ve had it.  I’m furious and I’m sickened.  Down With Tyranny I am also furious because no one seems to care.

Liberal Episcopalian Taylor Marsh has additional coverage of the story.   (Look, she may be liberal, but she is Episcopalian, so that makes up for it.  We Episcopalians gotta stick together!)  You know, you may hear something bastardized like this horrible rendition of a beautiful Irving Berlin song in ‘conservative’ churches, but it sure isn’t something you’ll hear in a good decent Episcopalian church.  As Episcopalians we respect two things:  tradition and good booze!

From Right Wing Watch – the whole nasty thing.

“..Why should God bless America?
She’s forgotten he exists
And has turned her back
On everything that made her what she is

Why should God stand beside her
Through the night with the light from his hand?
God have mercy on America
Forgive her sin and heal our land

The courts ruled prayer out of our schools
In June of ‘62
Told the children “you are your own God now
So you can make the rules”
O say can you see what that choice
Has cost us to this day
America, one nation under God, has gone astray

Why should God bless America?
Shes’s forgotten he exists
And has turned her back on everything
That made her what she is

Why should God stand beside her
Through the night with the light from his hand?
God have mercy on America
Forgive her sins and heal our land

In ‘73 the Courts said we
Could take the unborn lives
The choice is yours don’t worry now
It’s not a wrong, it’s your right

But just because they made it law
Does not change God’s command
The most that we can hope for is
God’s mercy on our land

Why should God bless America?
She’s forgotten he exists
And has turned her back on everything
That made her what she is

Why should God stand beside her
Through the night with the light from his hand?
God have mercy on America
Forgive her sins and heal our land

(Reading from 2nd Chronicles 7:14) If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land…

God have mercy on America forgive her sins and heal our land”

“…The Grand Avenue Church of God choir has had a song called “Why Should God Bless America?” in its repertoire for more than a decade. The song is a rewrite of Irving Berlin’s classic, “God Bless America.” But this week, with the choir’s performance of the song in Florida at a Republican presidential debate, it officially entered the viral video age….”

“Most people don’t know about us,” explained head choir director Melanie Clark. “We’re just a little congregation in Springfield, Ohio.” A little congregation — but with a mighty big message.
The song opens with the lines, “Why should God bless America? She’s forgotten he exists.”

And so it ended up at the “Values Voter Debate” last week.

… According to ValuesVoters.com, the group is made of “voters that believe in American values.” Seven of 11 GOP candidates attended, but frontrunners weren’t present. The Church of God choir was invited to perform by Janet Folger, president of the group Faith2Action. The former legislative director of Ohio Right to Life, Folger first saw the group perform in 1996 at a pro-life rally at the then-Springfield Inn. While not an original song, Folger thinks “everybody should hear” it, according to Clark.  “People just love it,” Clark said. “We just keep getting requests for it.”

The genius who thought this up is Janice Folger, who stepped in it a little when she quoted a Neo-Nazi source in a WND column then refused to retract it, but did put a notice up apologizing for the use of a specific work. Perhaps the greatest problem is the fact, according to Ed Brayton at Science Blogs, the source,   well, you read what Brayton wrote, then think back to the fact that this “VALUES VOTER CONSERVATIVE, Janet Folger, columnist for WND and the person who arranged for this absolutely obscene rendition of “God Curse America” well – for her to have even quoted Fields, she had to be way into knowing Aryan Nation sources (and I’ve quoted a few exposing them, and this is way embedded into the whole white supremacist life-style.)

“…Dr. E. Fields? I bet you’ve never heard of him. Unless of course you’re a member of the Aryan Nation, then you’re probably familiar with his work. “Dr” Edward Fields is a chiropractor who has spent the last 55 years involved with various neo-Nazi organizations in the United States. The ADL has a few interesting details on “Dr” Edward Fields:

In 1952, still shy of twenty, he met the flamboyant racist J.B. Stoner while the two were attending law school in Atlanta, and joined Stoner’s Christian Anti-Jewish Party (formerly the Stoner Anti-Jewish Party), a very small mass-mailing outfit in Atlanta. Stoner said he founded the organization to “out-Hitler Hitler,” whom he called a “moderate”; his aim was “to make being Jewish a crime, punishable by death.”

Fields eventually dropped out of law school, choosing instead to attend Palmer School of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, in 1953. The following year he and another student allegedly posted signs on storefronts in Davenport and two other towns reading, “This store owned by Jews” and “Anti-Jewish Week, Feb. 21-28” (in fact, the end of February had been designated National Brotherhood Week). No charges were filed, but Fields was placed on probation. He remained undaunted, apparently; his schooldays continued to be marked by anti-Semitic and racist pickets, meetings and mailings. During this time he built networks across the American far-right underground. He attended Palmer until 1956, and thereafter referred to himself as “Dr. Fields” – a title that conferred prestige among hardcore racists.

Good source, Janet. There’s much more in that article about Fields, including documentation of his involvement with the KKK and other white supremacy groups. Is this the sort of material that Folger reads and considers credible? Apparently so. Credible enough that she cites it without bothering to tell her readers who the source is. I guess this is how she puts her “Faith2Action.”…”

ADL info on Fields He was part of the National State’s Rights Party, or the Dixiecrats. Remember how Bill O’Reilly condemned Strom Thurmond upon his death?  Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

And, we always go back to the good old CofCC – the Council of Conservative Citizens!

“…In 1993, Fields founded a new organization, the America First Party, which he currently heads. The party, though with far less support, essentially reformulated the defunct NSRP: its goal was to create a white Christian America, free of immigrants, feminists, Jews, blacks, gays and liberals. In its first few years, it attracted a measure of attention, particularly in the South. Its co-founder, A.J. Barker, was also the North Carolina state chairman of the Council for Conservative Citizens; other CCC figures attended America First meetings, as did European white supremacists and domestic racist luminaries like Aryan Nations leader Richard Butler and David Duke. In recent years, however, the party has been quiescent….”

Why the you know what would someone like Folger be quoting a NAZI like Fields? And, why would our REPUBLICAN candidates aside from Ron Paul who wallows daily with white supremacists even agree to do this debate.  But then, we see, Folger is a Ron Paul supporter!

Folger is extremely anti-gay My friend Leroy says the more anti-homosexual a person is – well, you be the judge.  He considers someone who is extremely anti-gay someone who is fighting who they really are.

There is a piece about here on Truth-Tellers, the National Prayer Network. http://www.truthtellers.org/
It is run by “The Rev” Ted Pike.  Why is his work on David Duke’s website? And the Vanguard News Network

Why is all of this important?

Why did Values Voter Debate Janet Folger interview a known white supremacist named Ted Pike?

What is her association with him and with white supremacists, the kkk, and other nasties in general?

A Ted Pike quote:

“…All western democracies are rapidly losing freedom of speech to hate crime laws and their close cousin, workplace “anti-discrimination” laws. The Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith has said that even if their present hate bill is rejected it will be resubmitted, possibly under an extremely liberal President.

The hate bill or some version of it as “stealth legislation” WILL become law unless you and I remain vigilant and speak out.

Here’s what you can do!

1. Call the Senator from your district TODAY. Toll free 1-877-851-6437. Toll 1-202-225-3121. Say, “Please do not vote for Senator Kennedy’s hate crimes bill. Hate laws are destroying free speech in many countries. If the Senator votes for it, I and my friends will work to defeat him/her in the next election.”

2. Come here at truthtellers.org for the list of 37 Senators who are best candidates for persuasion against the hate bill. Call them, and call again, until the hate bill is defeated.

Since the 110th Congress convened in January, Americans have protested as seldom before and defeated at least four major un-American bills. The hate bill is by far the greatest threat. We must turn to God in prayer and continue to speak out as if liberty entirely depended on us. God has promised that when His people put their trust in Him and take action He will make a way where there is no way. As Janet Folger says, “faith to action” is the only practical political option we have left.”
