Graham Challenger’s KKK, CofCC (& Stormfront) Ties

On June 6, 2007, The US Immigration Reform Pac, chaired by Mary Lou Tanton, wife of John Tanton, issued a release stating  that their primary target in 2008 is SC’s Lindsey Graham.

“….U.S. Immigration Reform Political Action Committee (USIRP), which helped defeat Sen. Spencer Abraham, R-Mich., in the 2000 general election over his pro-illegal alien voting record, announced today it will target senators for defeat again in 2008. “The top senator we want to defeat is Lindsey Graham R-S.C….”says USIRP communications director Phil Kent.
“Graham, Chambliss and other senators may hope the immigration issue will fade away if they vote yes on this bill. The amnesty bill they are backing will only aggravate an already serious national crisis. When the government starts to implement this bill all its false promises will be revealed. There will be chaos, fraud, and corruption on a massive scale which will insure that immigration remains an open sore for voters for years if not decades,” Kent added.
Kent said Abraham’s defeat showed that having a huge campaign war-chest was not enough to overcome voters’ ire: “All his bags of corporate money didn’t save Spencer Abraham, and it won’t save Graham or others if viable opponents emerge.”
Kent added that the anger that people felt toward Abraham over his pro-illegal alien record as Senate Immigration Subcommittee Chairman pales in comparison to the outrage voters are expressing today. “At least Abraham never pretended to be anything other than an open borders advocate. But as southern conservatives, Graham and Chambliss opposed illegal immigration when they ran for office– and today their supporters are feeling betrayed.”
Kent said the group will also “assess the yes votes of all senators regardless of party, and will target incumbents in either their primary or general election campaigns, whichever is appropriate.”…”

John Tanton, through his tangled web of anti-immigrations has vowed revenge on Lindsey Graham for refusing to march, lock-step with the Tanton party line.  He did the same thing with Chris Cannon in Utah in 2006.  Until the American public (read anti-immigration conservatives) realize that John Tanton, a man with white supremacist ties, and a staunch abortion supporter is calling the shots and is the most powerful person in the country, they are going to continue to lose elections.

SC’s RNC member, Buddy Witherspoon is taking the almost unprecedented step of betraying his Republican loyalty as a member of the REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE in order to defeat seated Republican Senator Lindsey Graham in a primary next summer.
From the NY Times

“…A member of the Republican National Committee told state Republicans that he was severing his bond with the Council of Conservative Citizens. The official, Buddy Witherspoon, told the state party’s executive committee on Saturday he would no longer be part of the conservative group. Mr. Witherspoon said: ”I am a Christian. I am a conservative. But one thing I am not is a racist.” In January, Mr. Witherspoon refused a request by Jim Nicholson, chairman of the Republican National Committee, that he renounce his ties with the group.”

Before writing this article, I contacted a friend who is a long-term member of the RNC and ask him about Witherspoon’s decision to take on Lindsey.  His comment is that it is unprecedented.  “A seated member of the RNC just does not do this.”  He also went on to tell me he remembers that ONE TIME this occurred, but was settled amicably without an election challenge.  It was more of a personality conflict than anything else.

Radio Left states that Witherspoon  severed his KKK ties a few years ago.

“…Although beloved of the most radical right segments of the South Carolina GOP, Witherspoon isn’t well-known outside of Republican circles. He is a South Carolina Republican Committeeman and, as such, a member of the Republican National Committee (RNC). In 1999 he had a brief brush with fame when it was uncovered that he was a Klansman, a full-fledged member of the CCC, which the RNC forced him to resign. When it was first uncovered in January, 1999, that he spends his spare time running around in a white sheet with a pillowcase over his head and RNC Chairman Jim Nicholson demanded he sever his ties to the Klan subgroup, he told him to go kiss off. Three months later he announced he was severing his ties to the CCC. ‘I am a Christian. I am a conservative. But one thing I am not is a racist,” he claimed at the time….”

The CofCC has been after Lindsey for some time.  They are also an organization working hand in glove to promote Ron Paul.  According to the ADL their actions against Lindsey are considered “Extreme”.

“…•In Greenville, South Carolina, the racist Council of Conservative Citizens held an anti-immigration demonstration on April 29 in front of the offices of Republican Congressman Lindsey Graham, where they burned Mexican flags and displayed signs such as “More INS, Less IRS,” “Vote for Pedro to Go Home,” and “I Didn’t Fight in Iraq for Illegal Aliens.””

They have also declared Lindsey Graham the worst Senator in the US.

For those of you who don’t know about the Council of Conservative Citizens, they are a parallel organization to Stormfront (a white supremacist group).   This is a report from Stormfront about the CofCC national meeting.   You might also want to scroll down to the bottom of the page to the big flashing “Ron Paul” for President link.

Witherspoon has been a featured speaker at CofCC events.

The CofCC also has Neo-Nazi ties. From Searchlight Magazine

“…Several prominent leaders of the rightwing “grassroots” Council of Conservative Citizens (CofCC) were present including Gordon Baum, chain-smoking throughout, Sam Dickson, a retired attorney and the conference’s closing speaker, and Joel T. LeFevre, editor of Citizens Informer, who played a major role in organising the event. As Taylor himself put it in his opening remarks, the CofCC was a “lynchpin” co-ordinating the activities of a plethora of organisations. He didn’t mention, however, that the organisation is a direct descendent of the White Citizens’ Council which fought a rearguard action against civil rights in the 1950s.

John Brimelow (twin brother of Peter Brimelow, author of the influential anti-immigration tract Alien Nation) who runs the popular website attended and was observed cloistered in the atrium consorting with Black and his cohorts. A controversial figure for some within the American Renaissance milieu, David Duke, former Grand Wizard of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan (who was succeeded by Black), was there as were the far-right radio talk show host Hal Turner, Mark Weber, director of the California-based Holocaust denial outfit the Institute for Historical Review (IHR), Kevin Strom of National Vanguard and David Pringle, both former members of the neo-Nazi National Alliance. There was also a large contingent of Canadians led by Paul Fromm of the Canada First Immigration Reform Committee. Fromm is a friend of the Holocaust deniers Lady Michelle Renouf and Ernst Zündel who, much to Fromm’s annoyance, is currently on trial in Germany….”

FYI – Michelle Malkin is still writing for Brimelow’s Vdare.

You will want to read about Left of Center’s brief profile of Don Black of Stormfront.

“…Don Black – perhaps the most unreported on and under-rated racist in America today. Black is a former KKK Grand Dragon and keeps a large portrait of KKK founder Nathan Bedford Forrest an the wall behind his desk. He is frequently credited for having erected the first hate site on the World Wide Web. In the early 1980’s Don Black was arrested for helping to plot the overthrow of a Caribbean island. That is when he left the Klan. Black’s son, Derek, runs Stormfront for Kids out of the same computer room that houses his Dad’s set-up. Formerly from Alabama, Black resides in Palm Beach, Florida. He has close ties with David Duke and others from the racist right. He has also been a favorite speaker at the Council of Conservative Citizens events.
**These are but a few of those who support the Council of Conservative Citizens. The actual number of notables is huge and often overlaps into other organizations with much the same agenda….”

Flap on Don Black

Read this from Stormfront. I also have a Subway Canaries expose of Stormfront, the CofCC and white supremacists.

Malkin over at Hot Air is celebrating. They are creating this scenario where Lindsey is allowing terrorists to come into the country because they are illegal aliens.  It is an over-the top, circular argument that doesn’t hold water.

The South Carolina CofCC has been after Lindsey for well over a year.
They have formed a “Dump Lindsey” group.
A Numbers USA site against Lindsey
This is a John Tanton sponsored hit on Lindsey
BINGO – it goes straight back to RON PAUL!

(Oh, why was SC Senator Glenn McConnell on The Political Cesspool?)

AJ Strata has a piece today about Tancredo’s new and disgusting commercial. Then there is Tancredo’s Ad I suspect FAIR’s little bunch of warm and fuzzies has something to do with this ad.

So Malkin is using the Jihad Watch story about an illegal ISLAMIC to damn Lindsey.
Hot Air wrote:

“…When Lindsey Graham natters on about telling the bigots to shut up, remind him that his policies let a Hizballah mole get here and stay here….”

It’s all a tangled web.
Everyone dances to the machinations of John Tanton.

I think before many of our precious little conservative bloggers like Malkin, etc decide to celebrate the impending political demise of Lindsey Graham, they’d best remember that just last week they were decrying Ron Paul’s KKK, White Supremacist, Stormfront, and Neo-Nazi links.  Buddy Witherspoon, Lindsey’s challenger is a product of this same hate machine.  If they continue to celebrate Witherspoon’s candidacy and decry Paul’s they are exposing themselves as hypocrites.

You cannot pick and chose your associated here.  Either people are above board or they are dealing with some very nasty white supremacists, KKK, and neo-Nazis.  It really doesn’t matter if you agree with their stance on immigration or not. Right is right and wrong is wrong.  If you condemn the supporters of Ron Paul, then you must condemn Buddy Witherspoon.  It’s that simple.
