By now we should all face the fact that Sarah Palin is never going to get a break. Today is just one such example. On FOX Brian Wilson was lamenting the fact that she would not come on his show. Fact is, I can’t think of a better place to do an interview. Wilson is fair.
Second, she’s out of state when there is a “ORANGE” status for Mount Redoubt. It doesn’t matter if it just spits dust, or has the biggest eruption in the history of the world, if it blows and she is here, she’s toast. It doesn’t matter that Barack Obama is completely AWOL with FEMA during the ice storm in KY, TN, AK, MO. The press is going to cover for him, and crucify her. It’s that simple.
Seriously though, I fear Sarah Palin has truly harmed her POTUS chances by going, with other GOP governors, to request assistance for her state from the “stimulus” plan. Unfortunately, because of her high profile, she is going to be damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. The MSM is never going to give her a break, nor will the Dems.
“…Their state treasuries drained by the financial crisis, governors would welcome the money from Capitol Hill, where GOP lawmakers are more skeptical of Obama’s spending priorities. The 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, scheduled meetings in Washington this weekend with Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and other senators to press for her state’s share of the package….”
Bobby Jindal, Charlie Crist, and Tim Pawlenty (who is damanged goods because of his inability to assist Norm Coleman) are also on hand to lobby the Senate to pass the bill. This is so NOT GOOD. Here McConnell and Eric Cantor have whipped the GOP into line and our star governors are trying to get money.
This is very bad form. I truly fear it is going to cause major damage to Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal and Charlie Crist. It could actually cost any of the three the nomination. From what I’m seeing on the blogs, it has already harmed Palin. If we were talking any other governor, it would not matter. But – there is a double standard when it comes to Palin. The press will destroy her, or try to.
As for avoiding the media, it can be good or it can be bad. There is a point to be made for Palin thumbing her nose at them.
