Thanks for the Invite, But No Tea Party for Me!

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.“2 Chronicles 7:14

When I read that Michael Steele, the Chairman of the Republican Party is not welcome at the Tea Party in Chicago, but Alan Keyes, the ultimate con-artist and ex-Republican was being feted as a celeb in DC I realized I’m outta here.  If you think I am going to participate in something where the Chairman of the RNC is denigrated, but a blasted con-artist who has nothing but ill will for the GOP is honored, you’re out of your mind.

“…While the organizers of the Washington, D.C. anti-spending “Tea Party” have given a speaking slot to Alan Keyes, that other failed African-American Republican Senate candidate from Maryland, Michael Steele, has been dissed by the crew behind the Chicago Tea Party. Eric Odom, the event’s organizer, has posted the email he wrote to the Republican National Chairman’s staff after Steele asked to be a speaker….”

Instead, I am going to visit a small church known for healing, and pray for my country.  Tonight I’ve realized the answer isn’t in Tea Parties or protests but in prayer.

Just think – if all those who were attending the “Tea Parties” would, instead, humble themselves before the lord, pray, seek His face, and turn from their wicked ways, He will forgive our national “sin” and heal our land.

I know Tea Parties are glamorous and the “in” thing, but when have good Republicans felt the need to be glamorous and do the “in” thing.  We do the RIGHT thing.  And – the RIGHT thing is not lying down with certain conservative dogs and protesting.

The RIGHT thing is prayer.

The right thing is crying out to the Lord to deliver our nation.

  1. What a wonderful way to approach this! We all definitely need to pray. Our founders did both, (and even took up arms)so, I don’t think protesting the protests are necessary, but, you are right, PRAYER is key.

I wasn’t aware that Michael Steele was not welcome at the Chicago Tea Party, and that is a shame, but, Alan Keyes is a very motivational speaker, and he is very rooted in the founding principles.

His pro-life platform is very powerful, although, I remember when he ran against Obama for office, some negative information was floating around about him. Was he for reparations? Judging from how everyone who runs against a democrat gets completely trashed in the media, I’m not sure what to believe about that.
