“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.“2 Chronicles 7:14
On Thursday evening Sarah Palin “wowed” her supporters with one of the most moving speeches I’ve had the honor to hear. It was a remarkable story about a remarkable woman who could have chosen the easy way out, and terminated a “flawed” life. Instead, she had the courage to take life the way the Lord planned, and was blessed with a beautiful, but imperfect little guy.
In her speech she talked about having to come to terms with herself, and her faith. Could she live what she preached? Did she have the faith to take the less than perfect and triumph. Evidently she does.
It brings in mind a story told to me by a friend. Once upon a time there was a very successful and very talented couple who are part of the inner circle of some very important people who believe in aborting life. She was quiet about her pregnancy. A few months after the time when she should have delivered my friend’s friend told her that this fabulous talented, wealthy woman sent out a card. She admitted that the child was less than perfect, therefor she had given it up for adoption. Fortunately the child went to a good Christian family.
At least she did not abort it.
This country has a very serious problem with abortion. Funny how SP’s speech occurred about the same time I’ve been having some serious philosophical thoughts about abortion. It IS America’s sin.
Even though I am one of the “Original” Sarah Palin supporters, I feel she has been blessed and touched by the Hand of God. Hearing her beautiful speech was like a parting of the storm clouds, and a reminder of what is good, pure, and special about this nation.
May God Bless her.
May God Bless this nation.
And please – we need this gracious leader.
I find it remarkable and something of a miracle how our Lord always supplies the answer. In 1992 I was devastated when George Bush #41 lost. But, if he had not lost, we would not have had George Bush #43 when we needed him most. I truly believe the Lord has saved Sarah Palin for us. We’re going to need her leadership in a few years.
Just remember – PRAYER.
I think we all know what America’s sin is: ABORTION
What does this have to do with immigration reform?
(Roy Beck of Numbers USA is sending out the usual anti-immigration hysteria, trying to whip up conservatives. If good Republicans who have seen through this hate and the PRO ABORTION agenda of Beck & Company even hint of disagreement, they are threatened. It’s that plain and simple. The ARRA has a perfect example of the usual Beck perfidy).
Kathryn Jean Lopez has an excellent commentary in NRO about the history of Planned Parenthood.
“…‘We want fewer and better children . . . and we cannot make the social life and the world-peace we are determined to make, with the ill-bred, ill-trained swarms of inferior citizens that you inflict on us.”
That ghastly message appeared in the introduction to Margaret Sanger’s 1922 book, The Pivot of Civilization….According to its just-released annual report for 2007–2008, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America was responsible for conducting 305,310 abortions in the United States in 2007, an increase from 289,750 the previous year. Consider that the next time an abortion advocate tells you women are being kept from getting abortions in America. That increase in abortions provided by PPFA coincided with an increase in government funding, from $337 million to $350 million”
BUT – I find the most fascinating part of all of this is the fact that Lopez is one of the most hard-line anti-immigration conservatives around, buying anything the John Tanton organizations spoon feed to her. Lopez, a staunch supporter of immigration reform, ignores the following, written by Linda Chavez:
“…Dr. John Tanton, who was the brainchild behind many of the most prominent restrictionist groups, including the Federation for American Immigration Reform, the Center for Immigration Studies and Numbers USA, is a past president of Zero Population Growth. These groups often cite demographer Leon Bouvier’s work to support their arguments. “To begin with,” [Bouvier and Grant, co-authors of the book “How Many Americans?: Population, Immigration and the Environment”] say, “it would be pointless to assume that American women will altruistically decide to have but one child for the good of the society.” So they favor government policies that will achieve that end. “All proposed legislation, regardless of specific intent, should be evaluated as to its possible impact on fertility,” they argue. And, of course, they support additional government-funded research for more effective contraceptives and better access to abortion….”
As The Pink Flamingo has repeatedly stated, John Tanton, who is the puppetmaster of the entire anti-immigration movement, is one of the leading lights with Planned Parenthood.
“…In 1988 Walter Cronkite and Linda Chavez resigned their leadership positions in the organization, U.S. English, after it became known that the founder of U.S. English, John Tanton, had written a memorandum, distributed at a 1986 immigration conference of the Federation of Americans for Immigration Reform. The memorandum posed a series of questions and depicted an America possibly doomed to conflict between a minority of educated well-off English-speaking people and a majority of uneducated poor people of other ethnic and racial groups with faster population growth. Tanton wrote that “those with their pants up are going to get caught by those with their pants down,” and that since many of the immigrants will be Catholic, this influx of Catholics could reduce the separation between church and state….
John Tanton, who is the backbone behind the primary anti-immigration organizations is one of the top advocates of Planned Parenthood and abortion.
“…Given that the movement he helped create now finds its base among conservative Republicans, you might expect John Tanton to be an unapologetic reactionary. You’d be wrong. He’s a self-described progressive, ex-Sierra Club member, Planned Parenthood supporter and harsh critic of neoclassical economists. So I wanted to know: How did a whip-smart, mild-mannered farm boy committed to conserving the natural world end up seeding and nurturing a movement that now dispatches gun-toting vigilantes to patrol the border?…It was an instant sensation, turning “overpopulation” into a hot topic and landing Ehrlich repeatedly on “The Tonight Show.” Tanton had been ahead of the curve. As early as the ’50s, he avidly read reports from the Population Reference Bureau, and by the time Ehrlich’s book was published, he and Mary Lou had already started work on the first Northern Michigan chapter of Planned Parenthood. “I believed in the multiplication tables,” says Tanton. “Since I was a physician and could do something about birth control, it struck me that this was where I could make my contribution to the conservation movement.”…”
According to a NRIC fact sheet, in 2001 Planned Parenthood affiliated clinics were responsible for 213,026 abortions. There have been nearly 50 million abortions since 1973. In 2002 there were 2 abortions per minute in the US.
“…Every year, more unborn children die from abortion than Americans died in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, World Wars I and II, the Korean, Vietnam, and Persian Gulf Wars combined.”
Numbers USA was “founded” by Roy Beck. Numbers USA is an umbrella group of a number of organizations promoted by John Tanton:
“…NumbersUSA has close ties with other restrictionist organizations in which John Tanton of Social Contract Press has played a key role. Roy Beck founded NumbersUSA as a project under the nonprofit umbrella of U.S. Inc., an organization established by Tanton to spawn several dozen national, regional, and local groups dealing with immigration, language, culture, environmental preservation and education, and population. According to Roy Beck, although NumbersUSA does rent office space to ProEnglish, “we don’t deal with language as one of our issues” and “don’t have any ties with any language organization.” Beck says that U.S Inc. never funded NumbersUSA, and he disputes the conclusion by the Southern Poverty Law Center that Tanton played a founding role in NumbersUSA, although he appreciates “John Tanton’s hospitality and nurture.”
“…John Tanton is widely recognized as the leading figure in the anti-immigration and “official English” movements in the United States. Initially, Tanton’s public policy advocacy work was driven by his commitment to zero population growth and environmental conservation. By the late 1970s, however, this concern about the environment and population growth evolved into a crusade against immigration flows into the United States, particularly from Latin American and Caribbean nations. At the time that the New Right, Christian Right, and neoconservative political tendencies were mobilizing new constituencies against center-left politics in the United States, Tanton played a central role in mobilizing backlash sentiment against immigrants. Tapping his base in environmental and population control organizations such as the Sierra Club, National Audubon Society, and Zero Population Growth, Tanton in 1979 cofounded what has become the most influential anti-immigrant policy institute in the nation: Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). In 1983, he also cofounded the most influential “official English” or English-only organization, U.S. English…..According to Tolerance.org, a project of the Southern Poverty Law Center: “The organized anti-immigration ‘movement’ is almost entirely the handiwork of one man, Michigan activist John. H. Tanton.” In June 2002, it listed thirteen groups that formed part of the “loose-knit Tanton network.” The following groups were founded and funded (through U.S. Inc.) by Tanton: Center for Immigration Studies, Federation for American Immigration Reform, NumbersUSA, Pro English, Social Contract Press, U.S. English, and U.S. Inc. Others, such as American Immigration Control Foundation, American Patrol/Voices of Citizens Together, Californians for Population Stabilization, ProjectUSA, are part of the Tanton network because their funding has been channeled through U.S. Inc. Another organization cited by Tolerance.Org, as part of the network is Population-Environment Balance, because Tanton had joined its board….”
