Awhile back when work began on the new multi-trillion dollar Yankee Stadium, that has turned in to the perfect example of Hopeinchange, a gaggle of brave Red Sox fans endeavoured to put a “whammy” on new Yankee Stadium, as a rather “reverse curse”. I am not a superstitious person, I do respect the “gods” of baseball.
When the Red Sox finally won the World Series in 2004 and again in 2007, and the subsequent collapse of the New York Yankees, inquiring minds wanted to know of the Curse of the Bambino had finally been broken – or maybe even reversed.
While superstition may have had little to do with things, one can’t help but wonder if the Yankees would be in the same shape if they had retained Joe Torre.
Of course, we will not know anything concrete for another 50 years or so. (Darn it!) I guess we can hope, can’t we?
