UPDATED: Glenn Beck, the “Letter” and My Humble Opinion

Share

Why am I so annoyed over that blasted letter Glenn Beck is promoting?

It is very simple.

I am sick and tired of third party yahoos denigrating the GOP and everyone in it.  I am tired of watching people say vile and nasty things about good men and women who truly do not deserve the treatment these third party hacks are threatening.

The Republican Party has some very good elected officials, who are doing their very best to do what is right and honorable.  Instead of constantly damning them, maybe we should be out there supporting them, and helping them instead of threatening to kick them out of office because they do not slobber around people like Glenn Beck.  Frankly, if they did, I’d demand they be kicked out of the party.

Why all this worship of Beck?  What’s wrong with questioning his sources?  I’ve been blogging long enough to have a sixth sense when we’re dealing with pure BS.  And – I think we are dealing with it here.

“…Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don’t care. Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.”

Give me a break.  This reads just like Beck.  I have a right to think he wrote the letter.  In fact, I’d not thought about Beck writing the letter until a friend mentioned it to me.  He said it sounded like Beck wrote it.

Just show me the paper-trail for this woman.  That’s all I’m asking.  At least in the comments section of the Sonoran Alliance (linked below) there were several people asking the same question.  The woman came up with facts and figures that only someone actively involved in the political scene would know.

The Pink Flamingo is being accused of being out of touch by not catching Glenn Beck’s dog and pony show featuring Janet Contreras.  No, I did not watch it.  I have a life.  His  show comes on around 3PM in New Mexico.  Sorry, I was doing other things.  I’ve also been accused of not watching the news.  I watched O’Reilly, Hannity, and Greta last night.  If what Beck is doing was so important – why not mention him?

I don’t plan my life around Glenn Beck.  Frankly, I find him so over the top that I prefer to turn him “off” rather than inflict his doom and gloom upon Rumsfeld and the cats!  As for the alligation that I do not “watch” Beck, I don’t sit there and worship every word that comes out of his mouth.  I have FOX on during the day while I write.  Sometimes I listen to what he is saying.  Fact is, today I think his information about what could be a massive scam involving billions in US bearer bonds was very good – excellent, in fact.

Yesterday I did not keep up with his the end is near show because I was setting up my new MacBook Pro – 17 inch with 500g!  I finally stumbled to bed around 3AM and was back up at 6AM because I couldn’t sleep.  I’d lost 12 chapters of a novel I’m trying to finish.  I couldn’t sleep, got back up and around 8AM finally found the missing chapters.  Sorry, but if you are a writer and have lost 12 chapters of a book, that’s a heck of a lot more important that a disturbed FOX carny barker.  I tried to get some sleep after that.  By the time I finished errands, it was around 3:15 or so.

No, the information above is not necessary, except for several of the new Flopping Aces contributors who seem to think I’m out of my mind and not an accurate writer because I DARE think that something is not right about this story.  If I am proven wrong, I will admit it.  Right now I’m not going to surrender when it comes to the subject.

I think Glenn Beck is an emotionally disturbed hack who will do anything for a rating.  He will also do anything to destroy the GOP.  I do not like him.  I do not trust him, and I fear the damage he is doing to our country.  He’s like a carny barker selling snake oil.  Good people are falling for it – good people.

He has an agenda that is contrary to the Republican Party.  At least, unlike other non-GOP talking heads like Hannity  he has the courage to admit he is a Libertarian.  I don’t like constant dosages of “the sky is falling” and I am chicken little.

I am suspicious of anything he does.

Yesterday, I posted that I have my doubts about the Janet Contreras letter.  I still do.  After 4 years of dealing with people like Beck, I am suspicious of anyone who says anything contrary about the GOP who comes from Arizona.   I still have my doubts, even though this Janet Contreras person has been “produced” by FOX.

Contreras claims to be a former life-long Democrat.  If so, I can find no records of political donations.  I’ve been challenged because I have stated that you should be able to “Google” a person and have some record of their life appear.  I still stand by my theory.  To prove it, I’ve Googled my nieces and nephew, Rachel Boulden, Laura Boulden, and Dustin Boulden.  Laura is 19.  She is the most difficult to track, but both Rachel and Dustin can be tracked.   I tracked my uncle, Ed Froehlich, who is one of the top alligator experts.  He’s not online, but I found him with a little effort.  Doing a superficial Google, my two aunts are not readily popping up, but then they would have no reason.  My father can be found.  It took a minute, but I located my sister in Memphis.

I will reiterate – aside from the letter, it is difficult to find anything else out about this woman.   I find rather fascinating that one of the things “she” discussed when appearing on Beck’s show is how she might be attacked.  She also told Beck she was still a registered Republican.

When someone is as passionate as this woman claims to be, they have a tendency to be involved in politics.  Where are her donations?  Where is a record of having worked in either the Democrat or a Republican.  Why don’t Arizona Repubicans who seem to be rather well organized and do an excellent job of networking know anything about her.  Why aren’t they stumbling over themselves to recognize what she has done.

Beck thinks she is the next Joe the Plumber.  Is she his creation? For someone who had no record of having written even a shopping list, this woman is quite good.  Fact is, her letter looks like it is professional.

Does anyone know the real Janet Contreras?  If she wrote the letter, great.  If not, then Beck needs to be keel-hauled for it.

As typical, I’ve been accused of not being careful, and having my methods questioned.  Sorry, but I smell a rat.   Yes, it is a great letter.  BUT – when someone is this passionate about things they  must have been involved – somewhere.

I’ve checked the Arizona blog situation, going through 15 ACTIVE political blogs and web sites in Arizona.  There is NOTHING about Contreras in any of them.  Three are local AZ Teaparty sites.  There is a link on the Cactus Alliance, but nothing about the woman.  They link to the Sonoran Alliance, which is to date the ONLY reference I find to this woman in Arizona politics.

Now, look at the comments.  NONE of these people know anything about the woman.  I find that suspicious.   Arizona has a very active conservative community.  No one seems to have mention of this woman.  Why?

  1. “The woman came up with facts and figures that only someone actively involved in the political scene would know.”

    Really?

What facts and figures would those be?

I’m not actively involved in the political scene and I guarantee you I can name off a multitude of facts and figures for you.

That’s just another presumptuous assumption on your part.

“The Pink Flamingo is being accused of being out of touch by not catching Glenn Beck’s dog and pony show featuring Janet Contreras.”

Ummm…no, what is being pointed out to you is that you didn’t even know enough about this topic to even know that she was interviewed on TV last night.

You admit to avoiding Beck’s show on an ongoing basis yet you want your readers to believe that you know all about him.

“No, the information above is not necessary, except for several of the new Flopping Aces contributors who seem to think I’m out of my mind and not an accurate writer because I DARE think that something is not right about this story.”

Actually, I believe that I am the only author from Flopping Aces who has questioned you, so your use of the word “several” is misleading at best.

But let’s not quibble over that. We have bigger fish to fry.

I don’t think you’re “out of your mind” at all. You have every right to question this or anything else.

What I am questioning however is your presentation of the information here. Your posts have been, quite frankly, provably false.

Your statements that Google searching produced no results are easily proven false. Simply search “Janet Contreras””Arizona” and the very first hit is her name, her address in Phoenix, and her phone number. The very information in the first hit is the information that you said didn’t exist.

You say that your “two aunts are not readily popping up” because they have no reason to even though it was your contention in your original post that if a person isn’t on Google they don’t exist.

Do your aunts exist? If so then, by your reasoning they should be on Google.

You cannot have it both ways…so which is it?

“At least, unlike other non-GOP talking heads like Hannity he has the courage to admit he is a Libertarian. ”

There you go again with the Libertarian falsehood. Beck has never said he was Libertarian.

You’ll need to produce the link to your proof on that one.

“I will reiterate – aside from the letter, it is difficult to find anything else out about this woman.”

You see, there’s the rub for me.

I did the Google searching BEFORE you questioned the veracity of the letter on my thread over at Flopping Aces.

I knew the answers BEFORE you posed the questions.

I knew the answers BEFORE you posted your original piece.

I even told you how I found it. Google search terms “Janet Contreras””Arizona” in quotes exactly as I typed them.

The very FIRST hit is her name, address, and phone number…the very information that you originally said didn’t exist.

Even her employment information is there.

“When someone is as passionate as this woman claims to be, they have a tendency to be involved in politics.”

There’s another broad sweeping generalization, much like the generalizations and stereotyping of the people of Arizona and Phoenix that you made in our e-mail exchanges.

I’m not involved in politics. Not yet anyway. I’ve written numerous newspaper editorials but I’ve never held public office. Does that mean that I don’t exist either?

You’ve jumped the shark on this one.

I’ve been posting comments and exchanging e-mail with you since lunch today trying to get you to correct the record.

Obviously you’re not interested in the honesty and integrity of your site or your posts yet you have the nerve to question the honesty and integrity of Glenn Beck.

    How’s that work exactly?

Beck has a whole lot more to lose if he sacrifices his credibility than you do and I would be the first one to call him out if he did something like what you are accusing him of.

Sorry, your posts on this matter, both of them, have truck sized holes.

I’ve repeatedly presented to you the facts that you have chosen to continue to ignore.

Do with the information what you will, just remember, that a person with Conservative values will always, always, always pursue, promote, and protect the truth.

  2. The Miami Herald

“…Glenn Beck goes on the air with Fox News for the first time Monday afternoon, and he’s got a surprise for you: He’s not a conservative anymore.

”Every day that goes by, I’m more and more libertarian,” says Beck, whose new show (titled, coincidentally, Glenn Beck) will air from 5 to 6 p.m. weekdays. ‘I’ve always been a conservative. But every day I find myself believing more and more in states’ rights, individual rights — let people alone, get the government out of everybody’s lives, let everybody rule themselves.”…”

  3. “You knew…” Wow!

Yes, I found the entry about her address, etc. but did not put it on the blog, nor did I mention it. You might want to also note that there is another woman in Phoenix with the same name. I was able to track her, yesterday. Anyone who would even mention or link to someone’s address or phone # is a total and complete fool.

Why are you so in love with Beck – unless you are Glenn Beck himself.

I really am tired of you questioning me about the way I am looking at things. I don’t think I’ve stated that I am presenting absolute facts, but my opinion. There’s a difference.

Go ahead and keep questioning my honor, truth, and my work. I really don’t mind. At least I have the courage to blog under my own name and put my actual reputation on the line. Yes, it’s a cheap shot.

  4. “Anyone who would even mention or link to someone’s address or phone # is a total and complete fool.”

Well now. Where do I start with this glittering jewel?

First you said in your original post that it didn’t exist. You lied.

Now, once I prove to you that it does exist, you say that anyone who “mentions or links” to someone’s address or phone number is a fool.

Ummm….you, dear lady, moderate and, presumably, have the power to edit every comment here before you hit the publish button. By publishing my comment, unedited, you are the one who is allowing her address and phone number to be mentioned.

This lecture is coming to me from the same blogger who, in this very post, published the first and last names of her nieces, nephew, and uncle on the Internet.

Can you explain to me how you feel it is cool to lecture me while engaging in much worse? Those are children you are exposing.

“I don’t think I’ve stated that I am presenting absolute facts”

    Well, there you go.

SJReidhead has admitted FINALLY that she’s not presenting the truth here in the interest of accuracy…just her opinions.

Hmmm….never would have guessed that one.

Where’s the “card carrying” part of that? That’s what you said in the other post.

Where did Beck say he has changed parties?

Being “more and more Libertarian” does not a party member make.

Beck has said he cannot be a Libertarian because of the legalization issue as well as the foreign policy issues that the Libertarian party enshrines.

Sorry, your source material is not proving your point for you.

“Go ahead and keep questioning my honor, truth, and my work. I really don’t mind. At least I have the courage to blog under my own name and put my actual reputation on the line. Yes, it’s a cheap shot.”

As I have already explained to you, I have a wife and young children at home. It is my responsibility and DUTY to protect them.

This family, my parents, and my neighbors have already been stalked, harassed, and terrorized at the hands of people who didn’t like things that I posted on the Internet.

Fortunately the guilty parties were caught, prosecuted, and incarcerated and the only thing we lost as a result was some damaged property.

Take your cheap shots as you will. Enjoy your smug snickers at my expense. That’s cool with me.

I choose to blog anonymously because I have already learned what can happen if you don’t.

I hope that you and your family never have to learn that painful lesson like we did.

  5. Why are people on the left so afraid of a U.S. citizen expressing view that are counter to those of the left? The left needs to find a conspiracy in everyone who does not agree with their agenda.

What ever happened to doing what is best for our country, instead of your personal agenda?
