The Pink Flamingo, in her other incarnation, is on the Board of the Wyatt Earp Birthplace Museum. The founder of the museum forwarded a something that came from the local Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
Dear Editor of the Providence Journal:
Greetings from Illinois.
The curators of frontier lawman Wyatt Earp’s birthplace in Monmouth, Illinois advise me the site has been visited by someone from 49 of the 50 states, as well as dozens of foreign countries. The only state from which a resident has yet to visit is Rhode Island. The site has operated as a museum since 1986 so I invite a Rhode Island historian or fan of Wyatt Earp who might visit so all 50 states are represented.
Monmouth, Illinois is in Warren County in the western part of the state, about a three hour drive from Chicago.
(If not appropriate as a letter to the editor, maybe the travel editor or a columnist would be interested in pursuing the news angle. Not far away is the town of LeClaire, Iowa, the birthplace of Buffalo Bill Cody!)
