The liberal worship of Barack Obama and the conservative worship of Ronald Reagan is much the same thing. There is one big difference, though. When Ronald Reagan was POTUS, the same conservatives who today claim to have been his biggest supporters were some of his greatest critics. There’s one other little difference. The Cult of Reagan did not develop until long after he was no longer in office.
There is one other major difference. While there are those of us in the GOP who cringe at the constant abuse and mis-use of The Gipper’s name and legacy, especially via those who were the first to cast stones to destroy him while POTUS, you will need to search the country with a microscope to find a single conservative who worships him as a second coming, a messiah, or a golden idol.
Obama’s worshippers do not seem to have the ability to be able to tell the difference between a mortal human and a deity.
Reagan worshipers aren’t really worshiping Reagan. They are mouthing what their betters have told them. The problem with Obama worshipers is the fact that they have created a golden calf, an image of something that isn’t quite human.
The worst part of it is The One (Nobel) is doing nothing to dissuade this idol worship. He is enjoying every minute of it, which is absolutely terrifying.
Those who worship Reagan have a tendency to be following the lead of talking radio and TV heads. There is a perception of Reagan today that just IS NOT what Ronald Reagan actually was. This idolatry from the far right is something Reagan would absolutely detest.
The idolatry only goes so far. The “average” far right fan of Ronald Reagan falls under the “religious right” or Christian Conservative mantra. They accept that it is a violation of the Top Ten to worship anyone other than our Heavenly Father.
Unfortunately, the far left has a tendency to deny Christ.
It is a terrifying situation - for their eternal souls.
If we laughed at, made fun of, or even privately snarked at The One (Nobel) then we are little better than a terrorist.
“…”The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists – the Taliban and Hamas this morning – in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize,” DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse told POLITICO. “Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize – an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride – unless of course you are the Republican Party.
“The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It’s no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it’s an embarrassing label to claim,” Woodhouse said….”
