For some strange reason, when you tell numerous lies about a person, you end up hating the person you lie about. It is quite obvious this is what has happened to Lindsey. The far right, prompted by Rush Limbaugh, Michelle Malkin, and Laura Ingraham have told so many lies about Lindsey that the only way they can justify their mis-treatment of him is to turn him into an object of hatred.
I think they are starting to do the same thing to Newt Gingrich.
Something very nasty is going on with the conservative universe. Evidently someone doesn’t like Lindsey Graham and will literally do and say anything to destroy him. Doesn’t matter if it isn’t true. Doesn’t matter what they say. Lindsey Graham is evil and must be destroyed.
This is all getting old and very nasty. It is getting vicious, mean-spirited, and downright unpatriotic. If you march lock-step to what certain individuals desire, you are to be destroyed.
There is no different between the Democrat Hate Machine and the Conservative Hate Machine – just the names and faces. The methods are the same. They will do ANYTHING to destroy those who have been marked for elimination.
It would be interesting to see who first put the “conservative” hit out on Lindsey. I suspect it was John Tanton. I know that Michelle Malkin is in on it. The nastiness she spreads – and has spread about Lindsey was the cause of her dismissal from FOX News awhile back. She and Geraldo went to war over the disgusting illustrations she promoted. I suspect Lindsey has come rather close to the truth about this bunch of Malkin’s little friends.
Then again, Lindsey isn’t the one who authored a book that argued Japanese-Americans during World War II were much better off and benefitted from being in internment camps. Please, explain how that premise is not freaking racist?
On Tuesday, Rush Limbaugh basically told a bunch of great big whoppers about Lindsey, damning him because he is not a true conservative. I gather this is not conservative:
“…GRAHAM: It is literally three people, the committee chairman, Harry Reid, and somebody from the White House sitting in a room in an undisclosed location writing a health care bill that no one will get to read.
This is one sixth of our economy. This is not change we can believe in. This is a legislative disaster. You cannot read these bills. The public option is a horrible idea, and they are making it up as they go.
VAN SUSTEREN: Why did we spend the money on all of these hearings if Senator Reid was going to decide by himself with Rahm Emanuel, essentially?
GRAHAM: They are trying to get votes. They got themselves in a corner, and this is a dangerous time for the American people. They floated this big government idea. The public did not like it, so they are trying to repackage it. You can opt out of it if you do not like it.
The people pushing this public option are the most liberal people in the country, and they have hit a wall with the American people. We have no idea what they are doing, and I have no idea even where they meet. I read a news conference and they said the public option with an opt-out is in. Well, where did that come from?
All I can say is this is a dangerous time for the American people to have the Congress behave this way. And this is not change that anybody believed would come about….”
Funny, but a good 28 year ago, “conservative” leaders were doing to same thing to Limbaugh’s version of deity.
From the Boston Globe, January 25, 1981
“…“WASHINGTON – Congressional conservatives and right-wing activists angrily criticized President Reagan yesterday for saying that opposition to an arms control treaty is based on a belief that war with the Soviet Union is “inevitable.” Some critics accused Reagan of abandoning the conservative movement. Reagan’s summit with Mikhail S. Gorbachev, the Soviet leader, begins on Tuesday. The conservatives criticized the treaty to be signed by the two men…”
You know that precious Heritage Foundation all the little conservatives talk about as being so precious about Reagan. Well – try this.
“…Edwin J. Feulner Jr., president of the Heritage Foundation, also paused and finally said, ”Whoever Reagan’s successor is will have a hard time mobilizing these people because Ronald Reagan walked away from them in the end.” But ”there probably will not be costs in the short term,” he acknowledged, because Mr. Reagan, with a year left in office, is not likely to need to galvanize conservative support behind another Supreme Court nominee or deficit-reduction package…”
Newt Gingrich has FINALLY arrived. He is now the target of conservatives, the group he once cherished. Now, because he is not slobbering all over them, dancing to their pathetic commands, Newt Gingrich is evil and must be destroyed.
He is in good company.
“…“…Despite its successes, the hard right felt that Reagan lacked a true commitment to their ideology. In 1988, during Reagan’s second term, some key New Right leaders, including Weyrich, Viguerie, and Phillips, began denouncing Reagan as a “useful idiot” and dupe of the KGB, and even a traitor over his arms control negotiations with the Soviet Union….”…”
“…Weyrich called a special meeting of Christian Right leaders including Robertson, but not Falwell. Weyrich told the men that Reagan would not have won if it had not been for their help. Several senators had the Christian Right to thank for their victories and as a result, the Republicans controlled the Senate for the first time in years. He claimed that the Christian Right was valuable but was being taken for granted. Weyrich recalled saying, “Could you imagine if the Democrats had won and they issued a statement saying civil rights legislation has to go on the back burner?” (9) The other Christian Right leaders were not convinced, so Weyrich pressed the issue: “You have to show righteous indignation over this and you can’t just take it. You have to say, ‘Sorry this isn’t acceptable.’” When he finished speaking, Weyrich thought that the other leaders treated him like he had leprosy: “They told me to calm down and give these people their due,” he recalled. (10) The Christian Right had surrendered to Republican political pressure while they were still celebrating their victory. …”
One of these days the American Thinker is going to turn on Newt the way it has Lindsey, who is evil and must be destroyed. Fred Smith’s most recent article is proof that not only can’t they say a decent thing about him, but must basically not tell the whole truth, give actual facts, and must mis-represent what he says.
“…Whatever risks there may be in global warming, the “bipartisan” approach of Lindsey Graham (R?-S.C.) and John Kerry (D-Mass.) can only worsen the GOP’s plight. Suppressing economic growth through cap-and-tax energy-rationing programs will only impoverish Americans. Raising energy prices will not help the world’s poor; wealth creation made possible by affordable energy policies will. Note how Holland, which has faced rising sea levels for centuries, has held back the sea while becoming one of the world’s wealthiest nations. The best insurance against disaster is to create the generalized wealth and knowledge that will allow America and the world to address now whatever risks might materialize a century from now — or later….”
