So Much for Representation

South Carolina’s Junior Senator, Jim DeMint prides himself on representing the conservative voice for all Americans over those of his constituents.  It sure sounds good.  It makes him “pure”, but if I were living in South Carolina I would be raising holy heck!  If I were a Democrat I would be making even more noise.

A person who is in the Senate or the House of Represented is elected to “represent” the constituents of their state.  This is well and good and how the Founders planned for it to be.

What do you do when your Congressman and your Senators don’t care about your opinion or your voice?

Here in New Mexico this is what is going on.  Neither Jeff Bingaman nor Tom Udall really care about what the people of the state want.  All they are interested in is pandering to the far left and doing what Obama wants them to do.  Why not?  They aren’t up for reflection this time.  Why bother doing what we want?  They feel we are so stupid we have very short memories and will willingly and devotedly re-elect them.

2nd District Congressman Harry Teague may have had the same thoughts.  He is bending over backwards to pander to the normal people of the state while still being on Nancy Pelosi’s leash.  It is a bad place to be, but very good for Steve Pearce who is sure to defeat Teague next November.

There is nothing more frustrating than dealing with the arrogance of elected public servants who don’t care what the voters of their state want.  It doesn’t matter if the elected officials is 100% pure conservative or a pure liberal.  They are basically the same.  They are more important, their desires are more important than the requirements of the voters in their state.South Carolina’s Junior Senator, Jim DeMint prides himself on representing the conservative voice for all Americans over those of his constituents.  It sure sounds good.  It makes him “pure”, but if I were living in South Carolina I would be raising holy heck!  If I were a Democrat I would be making even more noise.

Go figure?

We all know Jim DeMint is trying to run with the big dogs and has national ambition.  So did another freshman Senator, and we see how incompetent he is turning out to be.  You cannot succeed nationally if you don’t care about your own state.

I wonder what Teague, Bingaman, and Udall’s excuse is?

The Pink Flamingo has a friend, Shadow Hill, who has been picking up the slack for a whole lot of us when it comes to hammering Tom Udall and Jeff Bingaman.  She is tireless.  Her most recent email reads:

“…Senator,
I’ve been listening to the floor debate in the United States Senate for six days.  I do not understand your support for the pending Reid Bill.  Please, please, please explain to me why you feel the Reid Bill is superior to the Patient’s Choice Act sponsored by Senators Burr and Coburn (a Doctor).  Why do you prefer spending 2.5 trillion dollars, cut Medicare and put 15 million Americans on Medicaid?????  Why do you want to expand the failure of Government programs like Medicaid, Medicare, the Post Office and Amtrack by enacting this bill???????  This bill restricts access to Health Care.  It breaks the American Bank.  It ruins the future of my grandchildren.  What is your problem???  What do you gain????  I swear to God – I do not understand and would appreciate an explanation to a form letter full of talking points.  I’m watching.  I can hear.  I can see.  Can’t you?!?!?  You are a tax and spend Liberal.  Nothing more or less defines you.  There are other ideas available to you but you don’t even consider them.  Americans oppose this bill by an increasing margin every day.  Who do you represent?????????
I will campaign against you and do the very best I know how to see that you are voted out of office.
SBHill…”

I think most of us share her frustration.

If you live in a state where you are represented by ONLY Democrats, let’s face the fact that we have absolutely NO representation.
