“…U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) made this statement on news today that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will declare carbon dioxide a health hazard.   The EPA is acting pursuant to the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2007 decision Massachusetts v. EPA, where the Court ruled carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases should be regulated as pollutants under the Clean Air Act.
Graham said:

I continue to believe regulation of carbon by unaccountable bureaucrats at EPA is the worst possible outcome. Jobs will be lost and in some cases industries will be regulated out of business.  EPA regulators will not consider expanded nuclear energy or offshore drilling, the exact provisions that I am pushing to have included in Congressional legislation.

“Regardless of whether you view climate change as a real threat or some grand hoax, carbon is eventually going to be regulated.  As a conservative, I believe the proper venue to set the rules is through the people’s elected representatives in the Congress, not unelected bureaucrats at the EPA.

“Done correctly, we can address these issues in a way that benefits our economy, national security and environment.  And South Carolina, through our many investments in research and technology, has a golden opportunity to lead the pack.  We are positioned to be one of the states to benefit the most from clean energy legislation.”

Lindsey Graham has been treated to a litany of how bad he is from the far irrational right to the point where they are starting to damage him.  Let’s also face the fact that Glenn Beck is doing the worst damage.  If someone says something Beck doesn’t like, Beck sets out to destroy that person.

Funny thing, though.  Beck is an idiot and Lindsey is right.

Go figure.

The Pink Flamingo is thrilled that for once Lindsey has stepped up to the plate and crowed  said “I WAS RIGHT!”.  Thing is, no one is listening.  They’re all being taught to hate.

You want to place a bet on how long it will be until the far far far far far right bunch of Michelle Malkin, Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham, Rush Limbaugh haters of Lindsey Graham will admit Lindsey was right and they were wrong.

Yea, I figure the same thing – a cold day in hell!

Lindsey on the climate bill and why he is working on it.

“…“How many politicians over the last two to four years have run on the theme that it’s unacceptable for America to send $1 billion a day overseas to buy foreign oil from countries that do not like us very much? Almost everyone, right? Well, now’s the chance to do something about it.

“How many politicians have gotten up in front of their constituents and said that the green economy is where the future is at? Well, now is the time to do something about it.

“How many politicians talk about cleaning up the environment? Almost all of us. Now’s the time to do something about it.

“You’ll never convince me that America cannot have the cleanest air and cleanest water of anyplace on the planet. You’ll never convince me that America cannot break it’s cycle of dependence on foreign oil by exploring here at home for oil and gas that we own in a responsible way. And you’ll never convince me that we can’t innovate and lead the green economy if we choose to.

“But if Congress does not act soon the world will leave us behind. In the 70s when you had long lines waiting for gas, we are more dependent now on foreign oil than we were during the Jimmy Carter years.

“Why did I do this? I want my time to count. I want to be seen as someone who can solve a hard problem by working with my colleagues across the aisle. I want to do something that matters. I can’t think of a better use of my time than to work with Democrats and Republicans to break our dependency on foreign oil, to create jobs for our next generation of Americans that will never go to China. And yes, leave behind a cleaner planet.”…”

    MS Reidhead,
Although some of what you right is correct,I must point out that Sen Graham upsets some of us that live in SC by saying we are CRAZY if we don’t believe in man made Global Warming. uh huh, I heard it live. I talk to his “people”. He also doesn’t believe in things like Twitter because “its too new”, weird huh?
Now to Beck, yes I know you despise him, but what I’m interested in is, what information that he shares in regard to czars and others that surround our President is wrong? Please point out what he has gotten wrong about Van Jones, Acorn, DSO for example? I know what you think about Glenn Beck and how it relates to Ron Paul, The GOP, and Lindsey Graham. What about the facts he lays out on the other subjects?
One more question, Have you read Newzeal.blogspot.com?

  • SJ Reidhead

Beck is doing a great job exposing the “czars”. I’ve always given him credit for that. But – he hates the GOP, is irrational about it. The other day he called GWB “Marxist Light”. He harps on Ron Paul and denigrates Lindsey but Lindsey’s lifetime ACU rating is nearly 9 points higher than Paul’s. Go figure. I read the NewZeal. Blogspot.

As for Twitter, my niece was on my case last night because I do not Tweet enough. It bugs me to no end. I think it is totally narcissistic. As for Lindsey and twitter, that makes a heck of a lot of sense. I remember back when he was running for Congress the first time and a conversation we had because I was trying to get him to use a computer. He is not a technogeek – far from it. If you saw what he was using for a cell phone that first campaign. I don’t think he even had one. By then I had one in my pocket. The tweet comment is just so Lindsey!

    Ms Reidhead,
I am a Republican, with independent/libertarian leanings. I think Lindsey is great with some of the military things he is passionate about. I held my nose when I voted for McCain. Sarha Palin and my FEAR of BO made it possible to push that button after waiting in a 4 hour line. He was out played by the Dems…most people don’t even know the game the Democrats played including the democrats.
I don’t like feeling I have to stick up for Beck, but who would give the American public the information about the current administration *Socialists/Communists/Criminals etc if not Beck, no one covers it. NO ONE.
If a Republican would stand up and FIGHT for our country, expose these nut jobs in Congress/WH etc. then I wouldn’t say anything about you complaining Beck doesn’t like the GOP. But so far I don’t see anyone except maybe…Joe Wilson. He and I have talked….he listened and I ranted just a couple of days before the YOU LIE shout…he still listens (emails and tweets). Jim Demint (also emails and tweets)is trying to break up some of the good old boy/friend stuff that is going on. The GOP needs to quit trying to get along and call out these CRIMINALS that are handing over our country to Communist because if they are not part of the solution they are the PROBLEM.
What are you doing to tell the public about all of the ties to Socialist and Communist this president has, his friendship/mentoring with a communist/child abuser (Davis)? What are you doing to inform the GOP that serious damage is being done daily by this White House?
A last comment about Twitter, I understand why someone might view it as narcissistic if you were tweeting “I put on lipstick”, I I I… but I have several hundred that I follow and most are people giving NEWS, there is some football and music, but all of it is News related. I pass on things I find out about. Rarely do I see “i ate a bagal”. It is a tool, a tool that communicates news much faster that email, blogs, phones etc.
Started with Iran, spreading fast. You are either in the game or left far behind. It is stupid to ignore tools that help you advance.

Beck is an admitted Libertarian. I do not mind at all when he exposes Obama’s associates. That is a good thing. When he starts calling George W. Bush “Marxist Light” and accusing he and John McCain of being socialists, then I think we need to pull the plug.

It is not just Lindsey that Beck is harming. I truly think he is damaging the whole GOP. When 10% of Republicans consider him the most influential conservative, well, “Houston, we have a problem”.

I don’t have a problem with what Joe Wilson did. I was thinking the same thing just about the time of his shout.

Jim DeMint is another story. I think he has an ego that is growing as fast as global warming is shrinking. Yes, we need to call out Obama and what he is doing. You might want to read a piece on Flopping Aces that Wordsmith did yesterday about the extreme right and the Tea Party people. Our Republicans are doing as much as they possibly can to try and stop Obama. They are hand-cuffed. FOX has basically betrayed the GOP and is almost exclusively hard-line libertarian (I am not talking libertarian-GOP, which you are, but Losertarian third party idiots. Aside from Greta, no one is giving the GOP a fair break on FOX. It is all “Conservative” or libertarian. We can’t get a break with the MSM, so no one knows what the GOP is doing unless you listen to Rush denigrate them, Malkin smear them, and Ingraham mis-represent the truth. Beck just plain out lies about them.

With on exception every GOP member of the House voted against health care reform. Only 3 voted for the Dem climate thing. I think the record is just as good on the stimulus. Same thing is happening in the Senate. Problem is, no one is giving the GOP credit for holding the line against Obama. And – they are.

As for Tweetering, it just bugs me. I really don’t want to know what so and so had for dinner, like you said. I am interested in what Karl Rove has to say. I am interested in the headlines coming in from Drudge, even if he is rapidly becoming a cliche of his own. I follow a few people, but It gets to be too much.

Just about “everyone” is talking about the socialists/communists Obama is dealing with on a daily basis. I am looking for headlines and readers. I don’t really want to re-do what “everyone” else is doing. I spend way too much time doing research on what I write on a daily basis. If other people are covering it, I try not to.

Now, as for the GOP calling out Obama’s communist/socialist associates, if a Republican shouts the truth from the highest hill and no one bothers covering it, will anyone ever know he/she is fighting back? I do think that is what is happening.

Thank you for the polite discussion.
