Here we go again.
Don’t you get tired of reading all the lies about Lindsey (and most other Republicans) thrown at us by Losertarians, the far right, and some misc. “tea party patriots”?
Well, here comes another whopper.
Why do Libertarians losertarians hate Lindsey? What’s up? Why all the Cato Institute backed hits on him?
The Cato Institute is sponsoring yet ANOTHER hit on Lindsey. Funny how they seem to be the only ones actually doing the attacking. Makes you wonder why, doesn’t it? It sure makes The Pink Flamingo want to ask a few questions. It also makes The Pink Flamingo a little annoyed, okay furious, the way libertarians, conservatives, and the far right tea party crowd keeps LYING about his position.
There is a very specific plan of attack against Lindsey. The Palmetto Scoop did the original research on who was attacking him.
“…A shadowy, mysterious group called “American Energy Alliance (AEA)” has bought nearly $300,000 worth of ads in South Carolina attacking Graham. We will reveal who’s really behind the ads in a moment. But first, let’s deal with the content. The ad claims Graham supports federal cap-and-trade legislation. Is that true? The answer is unequivocally “no.” Graham has made his position clear: He will not support any form of caps on carbon pollution unless the Democrats agree to green-light the expansion of nuclear energy, offshore drilling, clean coal and natural gas as energy alternatives to create new jobs and to end American dependence on foreign oil….The IER is a Houston, Texas-based “think tank” funded by, wait for it… the big oil companies. And IER has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from ExxonMobil over the last 10 years.
But it gets better.
The group’s founder and president is a man named Robert L. Bradley, Jr. Bradley’s previous position was Director of Public Policy Analysis at a little company called Enron.
At Enron, Bradley wrote speeches for Kenneth Lay, the company’s chairman who was found guilty on 10 federal charges of securities fraud, wire fraud, and making false and misleading statements. I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
With those facts in hand, it’s not too difficult to see why this secretive special interest group would attack Graham.
It all comes down to profits.
Graham is working to end the nation’s dependence on foreign oil. In the process, he has stepped on some big oily toes.”
So why is this group deliberately twisting Graham’s position?…”
The second round of attacks came from another associate of former ENRON executive Bradley, Thomas Pyle.
The third round of attacks comes from Carter Clews of the Cato Institute. Clew’s lies have been picked up all over the Internet.
“…Adding insult to injury, The Watermelon Man got thumped by fellow Senator John Kerry, who convinced the diminutive Carolinian to co-sponsor the ruinous cap and trade bill by promising to let America drill for a little bit of its own oil and build a couple of nuclear power plants here and there. We hasten to add that rumors about the gullible Graham also buying into Kerry’s promises to walk on water and build a swing set on the moon have not yet been confirmed.
It is almost impossible to overstate the damage Graham has done across the board by sleeping with the enemy on this draconian socialistic measure. Not only has he increased the chances of the once-moribund bill’s passage by giving it bipartisan cover, he has also served notice on the American people that he has now become nothing more than a carbon-obsessed copy of all that he once pretended to oppose…”
If you are honest and honorable enough to listen to this interview, you might realize that some of our “leading” pundits, talking heads, and conservative bloggers are either too lazy to do any research or really don’t mind lying. I’m not sure which is the correct answer. Considering how long it took me to find the information I needed (less than a minute) I suspect it is the latter, that they don’t mind lying.
Fortunately for Lindsey, there are people in South Carolina who are a heck of a lot smarter than Cato Institute losertarians. In an op-ed in the Myrtle Beach Sun News, Randal Wallace says it all…
“...Last week, the Environmental Protection Agency ruled that carbon emissions are harmful to public health, which means that if Congress does not pass a bill this year, the administration will unleash the EPA on American business with a vengeance much worse than any legislation negotiated in the Senate. We need a climate bill to protect our economy from the EPA, and Graham seems to be one of the only Republicans willing to do something about it, which is probably why he has the support of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other organizations who understand that sometimes, you need to take the best deal you can get.As for cap-and-trade, Graham has stated flatly that he will not support the Kerry-Boxer proposal. He seems to realize that, while any passable proposal must successfully tackle the issue of carbon emissions, it must also be transparent, easy to administer, and resistant to manipulation. Cap-and-trade, as it has been proposed, simply does not meet those criteria…”
In a November op-ed Lindsey wrote:
“…We also need legislation to provide regulatory certainty to our state’s business community. If Congress does not act, unelected bureaucrats at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will issue regulations controlling carbon emissions. In the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2007 decision Massachusetts v. EPA, the Court ruled carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases should be regulated as pollutants under the Clean Air Act. EPA regulation of carbon is the worst possible scenario. The EPA will destroy jobs and contain no new provisions for expanded nuclear energy or offshore drilling. Regardless of whether you view climate change as a real threat or some grand hoax, carbon will eventually be regulated – either through congressional action or by the EPA….”
WHAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT
In a way this is not about cap and trade. It isn’t about conservative or liberal. It is about the fringes of politics who can only make themselves partially relevant by denigrating and destroying people who are obviously their betters. It is about people both on the right and the left who want to get their way and be important. They are so impotent and so pathetically small that the only way they can do so is to attack to destroy.
Today it is vogue for liberals to denigrate Joe Lieberman to destroy him. It is vogue for the far right to go after Lindsey to attempt to destroy him. It is about people who are so irrational and so devoid of logic and the basic understanding of humanity that they can no longer tolerate anyone who disagrees with them. It is about people who have become so extreme and so empowered they think they have the right to dictate their demands to every one of us.
It is about pathetic and absurd marginalized men and women who are disparately trying to fit in the best way they know how. They are the “Trekkies” of the political world, obnoxious, rude, and may still live in their mother’s basement and may or may not even own a can of deodorant. These small minded losers have been empowered by the Internet.
Incapable of fitting into a regular party system, they have joined the fringes. The Soros funded hate machine of the Dems has begun assimilating the liberal versions of these pathetic losers. Unfortunately the losers on the far right are far too splintered. They are so pathetically non-conformist that they cannot even conform with other losers. Some are paranoid. Some are narcissistic. Then others are rude, obnoxious, and exhibit how profoundly little they actually know because they claim to know everything.
They are incapable of conforming to a political party. You will probably find they drift from one church congregation to another and cannot even form lasting relationships within their own little group of bottom feeders. Abject losers, they seek to destroy rather than build up. They achieve self-importance by congregating with others who are angry and disenfranchised, but are incapable of building long-term relationships within these groups, so they go off and start their own.
They are superior. They know everything. They have no self-esteem so they act like narcissists around other people. The sniveling cowards that they are, they only pick on people who cannot defend themselves (like illegal immigrants) or people who are so important that our losers are nothing but a flea on an elephant’s bottom.
People like this are followers. They are attracted to individuals like Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham, and Michael Savage who appeal to their sense of disenfranchisement and let them feel like they are not alone. They are haters. They are stalkers. They are so small-minded that they cannot comprehend that human frailty is the hallmark of greatness, and the admission of human fraility is a sign of maturity.
Grossly immature they form “hates”. They go after our elected political officials the way they would a college team, rooting, throwing things, and hurling insults as warranted, unaware that manners and decorum do exist. They are incapable of understanding that politics are politics and of all political persuasions can be friends and family. Marginalized from society, they seek to marginalize. Their intellectual achievements are psuedo. Their capacity for understanding concepts greater than their personal prejudices is limited.
They are the great populist uprising, surfacing once every twenty years or so, pollute and destroy what their handlers wish them to destroy, then disillusioned, they melt back into the woodwork, leaving the rest of us to pick up the pieces. Men like Joe Lieberman, Lindsey Graham, and John McCain will be around far longer than our political fringes. These are men who possess the spark of greatness, capable of going beyond themselves and understanding the abstract ideas that make our country great.
Those who do nothing but denigrate and detract are the ones who will lose in the end. They always have and they always will.
It is also about the manipulation of these little people by those who either want power or money. Which is worse, the little person who destroys someone who is better than they are or the ambitious who promotes that destruction?
