Thanks to Lindsey and Jim DeMint’s prodding, SC AG Henry McMaster is organizing several of his colleagues to take on the unhealthy bill on a constitutional basis.

““This morning, I received a letter from South Carolina’s two United States Senators, Lindsey Graham and Jim DeMint, asking me, as Attorney General, to investigate the legality of the special funding arrangements negotiated with Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson to secure his vote for the Senate Democrat’s health care reform bill which moved forward toward eventual passage in the Senate by a vote of 60-40.”

Henry is working with Washington State AG Mark McKenna to go after the bill to see if the “deal” sets a new legal precedent.  He is also discussing the possibility of AG’s from Texas, Alabama, North Dakota, Colorado, and Michigan to join in some sort of legal action.

It looks like South Carolina is taking the lead fighting this thing.

“...According to AP, South Carolina’s Henry McMaster is being joined by the attorneys general of Michigan and Washington state in a suit to determine the constitutionality of the Obamacare proposal. Their initiative was prompted by a request from South Carolina’s two senators, Lindsay Graham and Jim DeMint, both Republicans. Attorneys-general in at least four other states are also considering joining McMasters, according to AP. Graham has been all over cable news today visibly angry about the vote-buying by Reid that secured the votes of Senators Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, and Bernie Sanders of Vermont, as well as possibly other senators as yet unknown. DeMint has also been active, especially on the issue of the Reid amendment’s provision seeking to bar future congresses from changing even a single word of Section 3403 on the Independent Medicare Advisory Board (IMAB)….”
