(April 24, 1851 – March 18, 1882)
On this day in 1882, Morgan Earp was murdered. He was shooting a game of pool at Hatch’s in Tombstone, when he was shot in the back by Frank Stilwell and the usual cast of Cowboys. His death set off a legendary vendetta, where Wyatt Earp and a handful of his associates, including Doc Holiday, went after the outlaws who were terrorizing Cochise County.
Allegedly, when Morgan Earp died, he whispered something to Wyatt. There are those who say it had something to do with the last game of pool he would ever play. Later in life, Wyatt said Morgan told him he would see him in Heaven.
