The Non-Narcissistic GOP

Did you know that a group who does not have an actual leader is ripe for a narcissist to step up and take over as the leader.

“...A study published in the journal Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin suggests that when a group is without a leader, you can often count on a narcissist to take charge. Researchers found that people who score high in narcissism tend to take control of leaderless groups….”

This has absolutely fascinating implications for the GOP and says something rather damning about the Dems!  It also does not speak well for losertarians and their Ron Paul fixation.  Let’s just be honest that the face of narcissism is Ron Paul!

“...Researchers found that people who score high in narcissism tend to take control of leaderless groups. Narcissism is a trait in which people are self-centered, exaggerate their talents and abilities, and lack empathy for others. “Not only did narcissists rate themselves as leaders, which you would expect, but other group members also saw them as the people who really run the group,” said Amy Brunell, lead author of the study and assistant professor of psychology at Ohio State University at Newark. Narcissists, by definition, are self-centered and overconfident in their own abilities.
The researchers found similar results in two separate studies involving college students, and one involving business managers in an MBA program. And while narcissists are more likely to become leaders, results of one of the studies suggest that, once in power, narcissists don’t perform any better than others in that leadership role. “It’s not surprising that narcissists become leaders,” Brunell said.
“They like power, they are egotistical, and they are usually charming and extraverted. But the problem is, they don’t necessarily make better leaders.”…”

The GOP is currently ripe with an incredible pitching rotation and a bullpen that will go to the hall of fame.  We have so darn many potential leaders it is rather embarrassing.  Then look at the Dems – they are so shallow it is pathetic.

The media is complaining that no one is really stepping up to take over the GOP and begin leading.  If nothing else, this should be a flashing pink neon light – our people are not narcissistic and are not trying to take over!  They are normal people!

You constantly see Dems step in and take-over the party, and make a total mess of it.  The Pink Flamingo is not saying that Michael Steele is perfect, he is far from it, but we are SO not seeing narcissism within the leadership of the party that it is quite remarkable!

In other words, maybe we should be quite pleased with our Republicans.  There is a difference between real leadership and narcissism – the difference between Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama.
