I miss him so much, just watching the Facebook “Innagural Address” left me in tears!
His love of freedom and democracy is so terribly important, isn’t it everything?
“Thanks for tuning in to my inaugural address — on Facebook. I’ve been touched by the outpouring of interest. I am pleased to report that Laura and I are happy, healthy and home here in the great state of Texas — or as I call it, the Promised Land. Serving as president was the honor of a lifetime, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to represent the nation I love.
Retirement isn’t so bad either.
The day after I left office i started writing my book, which will hit the shelves on November the 9th. along with President Bill Clinton, I’m raising money for earthquake relief in Haiti. And I’m working on my presidential center at Southern Methodist University here in Dallas. The center will include the archives of my presidency, and a museum. It also includes the George W. Bush institute.
As I tell people, I may be done with politics. But I am not done with policy. Our building won’t be complete until 2013 but the Institute is up and running. We’re promoting practical initiatives in four key areas: education reform, global health, economic growth and human freedom. We have an exciting women’s initiative, which focuses on empowering women in the Middle East. In all we do at the Institute, we are guided by the firm belief in the power of freedom to promote peace and prosperity, both at home and abroad.
To learn more about the Bush Center please click on the links on this page, and stay tuned for future postings. I encourage you to share your ideas on how to promote the mission of the institute, and on what American needs to do to remain a beacon of freedom and opportunity and hope.
Thanks for your interest and support. God bless you.”
