Last week, as usual, Lindsey put his foot in it by telling the truth. One of his suggestions is that the GOP work with Obama. We must appear to be willing to be adults, and appear to compromise.
“…There’s plenty of things that we could do on job creation by challenging President Obama to come to the middle, and find ways to move us forward as a nation, and put the burden on him to say no to us,” added the South Carolina Republican….”
It is called being positive. Remember that old song, Ac-cent-tchu-ate The Positive, sung by Bing Crosby? There is a lesson involved in it.
AC-CENT-TCHU-ATE THE POSITIVE
Mister In-Between
(Johnny Mercer / Harold Arlen)
You’ve got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don’t mess with Mister In-Between
You’ve got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene
(To illustrate his last remark
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they do
Just when everything looked so dark)
Man, they said we better
Accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don’t mess with Mister In-Between
No, do not mess with Mister In-Between
Do you hear me, hmm?
(Oh, listen to me children and-a you will hear
About the elininatin’ of the negative
And the accent on the positive)
And gather ’round me children if you’re willin’
And sit tight while I start reviewin’
The attitude of doin’ right
(You’ve gotta accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don’t mess with Mister In-Between)
You’ve got to spread joy (up to the maximum)
Bring gloom (down) down to the minimum
Otherwise (otherwise) pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene
To illustrate (well illustrate) my last remark (you got the floor)
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they say (what did they say)
Say when everything looked so dark
Man, they said we better
Accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don’t mess with Mister In-Between
No! Don’t mess with Mister In-Between
YOU WIN BY BEING POSITIVE
Ronald Reagan won by being positive in a time when this nation was terribly low. He celebrated the good that we are as a nation. He believed in the power of positive thinking, the American people, and prayer. He had a sense of humor. He did not take himself that seriously, instead, dealing with almost every situation with wit and that incredible humor.
We have lost our national sense of humor. We’ve lost the ability to laugh at ourselves. We take ourselves way too seriously, far too arrogantly. Unfortunately the tendency now is the arrogance of some elected officials and the absolutely amazing arrogance of the far left and the Tea Parties.
They need to stop and quit taking themselves so seriously. Neither group calls the shots. The right of center middle does. They are the ones who want rational behavior, manners, and not just “no”.
After we took the House and the Senate in 1994 the GOP allowed itself to be slammed, branded as The Party of No. We were crucified. And – we played right into the liberal media’s willing duplicity with the Dems.
Lindsey is right. Make Obama be the party of no. It is all a matter of semantics, the way things are presented, a little psychology, and a little manipulation. We must be wise. We must act and not react.
THE FACTS OF LIFE
There are going to be some very sobering facts of life. We are currently living in a political atmosphere were neither the pundits nor their slobbering devotees have any earthly idea about how things work in Washington.
Funding is proposed in the House of Representatives. It is NOT proposed in the Senate. They must sign off on it, BUT, because we will not have a two-thirds veto proof majority in the Senate, there is only so much we will be able to accomplish.
We must take the war to Obama and make him, as Lindsey says, be the party of “NO”.
We must make him refuse to sign off on deficit reduction. He is going to attempt to rule by fiat and executive orders. We must turn him into the obstructionists an must play the PR game to defeat him.
One thing that MUST be kept under control is the constant slamming of the GOP by the far right talkers like Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh who is increasingly a me-too follower lacking in intellectual honesty and vision. The only major conservative talking head who consistently tells the actual factual accuracy about the GOP is Michael Medved.
The Pink Flamingo still blames much of the chaos and defeat we experienced from 2006 until today on the prevaricate duplicity of Laura Ingraham who slavishly became devoted to destroying the GOP and putting Blue Dogs in office. See where it got us?
Our Republicans must not let men of courage like Lindsey Graham literally hang because he is one of the few who has the courage to talk to the center right and to attempt to approach our current situation with rational wisdom. You cannot govern by playing to the fringes. Look at Obama and his awesome failure. He played to the extremes.
You play to the rational.
You play to the positive and the good of the American people.
Instead of being the party of “No we are not going to fund this….” let’s become the party of “Why yes, I think is an excellent idea to find ways to facilitate the saving of taxpayer money by …..”
It is the same thing.
It’s all about words.
One thing Rush Limbaugh gets right is that when Democrats are no longer in power, they become crazy. They are funny, but they are scary. When they are in power they are arrogant. When they are out of power they are insane!
People who are crazy can do scary things.
IT IS ABOUT STANDING FOR SOMETHING….
It is all about standing for something, not just against something. It is not good enough be against something, we must be for something.
We must stand for something – for something positive.
We must stand for cutting spending, not against spending money.
See how much better it sounds?
Maybe one of these days more Republicans besides Lindsey will finally learn the lessons of history. Fools who don’t learn from history are cursed to repeat it.

I have always maintained that it was hypocritical for the Talk Show Mafia to demand total adherence to the conservative mantra, then scream bloody murder when Liberals adhere to their liberal mantra.
For over a year, I listened to Ingraham tell her listeners how terrible it was for the Liberals to go against a sitting president during time of war…then the Harriet Miers deal happened and she didn’t get HER pick and she decided the “going against a sitting president during time of war” didn’t apply to her.
On that day, she lost all credibility to me.
Every time someone complains about Obama and his gang not caring one iota about what conservatives want, I tell them “isn’t that what you wanted GWB and the GOP to do, push the CONSERVATIVE agenda and not give a rip about Liberals or Independents?”
No I don’t fault the Dems for the lost of 2006 and 2008; they did what they were SUPPOSED to do. I fault conservatives who JOINED their liberal counterpart in telling America how crappy the GOP…they are STILL telling them. For every win, there is the threat…toe the line or else.
This election was a rejection of Liberals and the Dems, absolutely, but the inability to win the Senate and to replace Boxer and Reid was ALSO a rejection of the Tea Party.
