Thursday morning Michelle Malkin was on Fox and Friends spreading more of her dis-information about what is going on in Arizona. She thinks Clarence Dupnik is the “Worst Sheriff in Arizona”. Her classification of “worst” is because he was not forthcoming with misc. records, etc. and he said something that wasn’t nice about Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh is a big boy and can take care of himself. He doesn’t need Malkin’s kind of help.
Ms Malkin convienently left out a few facts. She is good at that when it comes to covering the tracks of her very nasty anti-immigration friends. It is almost like she lied about Dupnik in order to protect Sheriff Joe.
You see, she has an agenda. Dupnik is anti- Malkin’s form of anti-immigration, anti-Hispanic bigotry. He’s a liberal Dem. He has been rather out-spoken in the past against all the nasty little people Malkin embraces. So, she must do what she can to ruin Dupnik.
It’s a Sheriff Joe kind of thing.
The Pink Flamingo thought I would provide a few facts and figures that might serve up a little egg on the face of the far right attack machine. I don’t give a rip about Dupnik. He’s been in office far too long and needs to step aside and let younger blood take over. My complaint in all of this is the way the far right jumps on those they are told to hate, and ignore the sins of those they are told to worship and adore – like Sheriff Joe.
“…Violent Crime Rates Rise Under Arpaio, Fall in Rest of Arizona1
Violent crime is down across the state of Arizona, but not in Maricopa County. The Arpaio approach is a proven failure at reducing crime. From 2002 to 2009, while the violent crime rate across the state as a whole decreased by 12 percent, the area policed by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office suffered a 58 percent increase in violent crime. Compare that 58 percent crime increase to other law enforcement agencies in Maricopa County who engaged in community policing, not targeting immigrants. In that same time period, Phoenix enjoyed a 14 percent decrease; Tempe, a 26 percent decrease; and Mesa, a 31 percent
Under Arpaio, 911 Response Time Increased, Arrest Rates Decreased2
A Pulitzer Prize-winning investigation by the East Valley Tribune unearthed some disturbing news for residents of Maricopa County: “Response times, arrest rates, investigations and other routine police work throughout Maricopa County have suffered over the past two years as Sheriff Joe Arpaio turned his already short-handed and cash-strapped department into an immigration enforcement agency.” Unfinished investigations include particularly heinous crimes such as rape and other violent assaults. …”
I’m afraid it is a far right hate machine at times. Led by the usual suspects (Michelle Malkin is one of them), Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik has been turned into some sort of monster. Of course she IGNORES the problems Sheriff Joe has caused in Maricopa County. She also ignores Paul Babeu (Pinal County) who appeared on the white supremacist Political Cesspool program. Somehow I consider those two a bit worse than Dupnik. Strange how they don’t want to expose Sheriff Joe.
“…Within hours of the bloody spree, Dupnik mounted more grandstands than a NASCAR tour champion. A vocal opponent of S.B. 1070, the popular state law cracking down on illegal immigration, Dupnik immediately blamed Arizona for becoming a “mecca for prejudice and bigotry.”
To date, there is no public evidence that accused shooter Jared Loughner was in any way motivated by the national rancor over illegal immigration and the Arizona law (though open-borders extremists from the Justice Department on down most certainly wish it were so). When he complained about non-English speakers, Loughner’s nonsensical diatribes were aimed at illiterates in general — not illegal aliens — and “grammar control” by the government….”
And so the pile on has begun.
The Pink Flamingo learned, ages ago, to use Arizona sources for anything within the state. We can’t go by FOX, nor the far right bloggers. FOX has its own agenda. The far right (non Republican bloggers) such as Michelle Malkin have their own very disgusting anti-immigration agenda which taints anything she writes on the subject. According to the Arizona Republic, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department is not releasing records for various reasons. It is quite obvious the officials at the Pima County Community College are hampered by Federal privacy laws.
(It is possible the very real villain in all of this are the draconian privacy laws that now cover so darn much it is frustrating.)
The Far Right has a love affair with Sheriff Joe, who runs the only jail in the US that has ever been monitored by Amnesty International.
Now, let’s look at some stats:
You might want to note that in 2005 Maricopa County did NOT report their stats.
Index of crimes – County by County
“…According to FBI statistics, violent crimes reported in Arizona dropped by nearly 1,500 reported incidents between 2005 and 2008. Reported property crimes also fell, from about 287,000 reported incidents to 279,000 in the same period. These decreases are accentuated by the fact that Arizona’s population grew by 600,000 between 2005 and 2008.
According to the nonpartisan Immigration Policy Institute, proponents of the bill “overlook two salient points: Crime rates have already been falling in Arizona for years despite the presence of unauthorized immigrants, and a century’s worth of research has demonstrated that immigrants are less likely to commit crimes or be behind bars than the native-born.”
Backers of the bill maintain that crime is a key reason for the necessity of the tough immigration law.
Arizona state Sen. Russell Pearce this week told CNN’s Tony Harris that half the murders in Phoenix are committed by unauthorized immigrants and that the city is the second in the world in kidnappings.
A CNN Fact Check found that the senator’s claim about the murders in Phoenix cannot be proven, but he did have police statistics to back up his claims of the city’s high number of kidnappings, although its exact standing in the world is not clear.
In Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix, Sheriff Joe Arpaio has long been an advocate of tough measures against illegal immigration. His officers already check the immigration status of people they detain for other crimes, he said….”
