Lauran Ingraham’s, Planned Parenthood, O’Reilly, and the Bush Brothers

Laura Ingraham, in The Pink Flamingo’s humble estimation is one of the most intellectually dishonest minions of the extreme right in the media today.

The Pink Flamingo DETESTS defending liberals.  There is a recent comment about my using Media Matters as a source for a piece about Glenn Beck.  I don’t like using liberals or defending liberals.  But, what I dislike more is the increasingly unfair and outrageous bias I see from the minions of the far right – aka – the usual suspects.

As a Republican and a conservative I expect more from conservatives.  We are alleged to be “better” than liberals.  Boy have I been wrong most of my life.  People don’t give a durn about honor, decency, and factual accuracy.  The far left must be reviled, but no attention should be paid to the really bad people of the far right.

For several nights, while hosting O’Reilly’s show, Laura Ingraham has been harping on the scam played on Planned Parenthood.  She has been slamming them for promoting sex trafficking of minors.  There’s one little problem with her slant on things.  She’s leaving out a few salient facts.  The moment the scam began, Planned Parenthood contacted the FBI about it.  On Friday, she made an attempt to listen to the other side, but could not handle the possibility that she was wrong.  I find her sarcastic, mocking, and almost abusive style she uses on anyone who does not agree with her – well, annoying – at least.

The last thing The Pink Flamingo wants to do is defend Planned Parenthood.  I deplore their abortion activism.  I do not, though, approve of the fact that the far right commentators on FOX are repeatedly LYING about issues, leaving out salient facts, and downright slanting their news point of view of Fair and Balanced.  There is NOTHING far nor balanced about Ingraham.  On Wednesday evening she attacked our wonderful former President and his brother for disagreeing with her bigoted and slanted version of immigration reform.  On Thursday she made a big deal about the recall of a certain sheriff from Tucson, failing to mention the recall petition going against one of her favorite far right people, Russell Pearce.

“…So let’s get to what I am hearing and seeing and I’ll throw in as many unsubstantiated rumors as possible to see what kicks loose.

Dump Dupnik is alive and well and seems to have a three pronged approach. First up is Dan Baltes, a conservative activist from Utah that is so fed up with Sheriff Dupnik that he wants to help Pima County rid itself from this incompetent blabbermouth that may have hurt any chance at a conviction of the alleged murderer of Christina Green, John Roll, Gabe Zimmerman, Dorothy Morris, Phyllis Schenk, and Dorwin Stoddard. At present he has about 10,000 signatures on a petition to recall the sheriff, He needs approximately 92,000. There are four locations in Pima County where one can go to sign the petitions; Black Weapons Armory, Downrange Tactical Solutions, Arizona Tourist news and Bloom’s Heating and Cooling. For more information see…”

There are two candidates that are officially exploring running for the office of Pima County Sheriff. Walt Setzer and Terry Fredrick both are Republicans and have law enforcement backgrounds. The rumor? Richard Mack is eyeing the office as well….”

It has reached the point where Ingraham, who is, in The Pink Flamingo’s humble opinion, seriously responsible for the GOP losing the House and Senate in 2006, is not to be believed.  She is becoming increasingly shrill, and horribly unfair.

Her attacks on Barbara Bush over her ad about gay marriage are over the top.  Something Ms Ingraham needs to learn is that there are more views than her narrow-minded, extreme far right bigoted ways.  People have a right to say what they think, even Ms Ingraham.   So the kid’s liberal.  EVERY family has one.  The Pink Flamingo has an extremely liberal niece.  You think I’m going to denounce her and call her a pin-head? That’s disgusting.

The Pink Flamingo is so sick of this far right hatred of gays that I’m sick of it.  So what? They are sinners just like I am and just like Ms Ingraham is.  From my reading of The Ten Big Ones, there is no difference in the sin of adultery than lying about someone.  Perhaps people like Ms Ingraham should be a little careful about casting that first stone.

People like Ingraham constantly spread their lies about the border, to promote their anti-Hispanic agenda.  The problem is IT IS NOT TRUE.  Mike Huckabee is in deep do with several border mayors because of this same thing.

“…“(C)laims that our border cities are out of control are just not true,” reads the letter from eight mayors addressed to Huckabee and the Post. “Not only do these claims fly in the face of statistical evidence, but they also disparage the tremendous efforts that our law enforcement agencies have made to protect this border and the people who live in border communities.”

They added, “We can tell you first hand that the Southwest Border Initiative is certainly working. We have seen unprecedented investment in terms of manpower, resources, and technology that has resulted in a more secure border. We have implemented a successful strategy which includes greater collaboration with federal, state, local and tribal, and Mexican partners while facilitating legal trade and travel.”

The mayors, members of the newly formed U.S. Mexico Border Mayors Association, responding to Huckabee were: John Cook of El Paso, Texas; Raul Salinas of Laredo, Texas; Pat Ahumada of Brownsville, Texas; Alan Krieger of Yuma, Arizona; Bob Walkup of Tucson, Arizona; Arturo Garino of Nogales, Arizona; Jerry Sanders of San Diego, California; and John Moreno of Calexico, California. The mayors’ group is bi-partisan.

They said they “constantly have to correct the false perceptions that our cities are not a safe place to live, work and play.”

On Thursday evening Ingraham had this terrifying and breathless report about how bad the situation is in El Paso, how terrified people are.  She failed to mention that El Paso is the safest large city in the US! Then again the FOX mime is that it is not.

Yes, there are problems along the border, especially in Southern Arizona.  We’re not seeing it in NM, yet.

“…Royce, King and Rep. Phil Gingrey, Georgia Republican, just finished a tour of the U.S.-Mexico border on Wednesday, and found a much different border security situation than Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told the country about on Monday. Royce said people in border communities “all perceived a much higher level of violence than they’ve seen in the past, much more vandalism and many more threats.”

“Basically, what you have is a situation where smugglers are so well-armed now with assault rifles and high-tech equipment like GPS cell phones and scanners,” Royce told TheDC in a phone interview from Tucson, Arizona. “One of the examples we were given by the Border Patrol here is that they [drug cartel members] have set up their own communication relay stations into Mexico, and, as a result of all of this, it’s affecting kidnappings, businessmen and ranchers and farmers are all affected by this.”…”

Ms Ingraham found fault with The Great Man over his comments about Nativism.

“...Laura Ingraham hosted “The O’Reilly Factor” on February 2nd.  The Talking Points Memo revolved around former President George W. Bush’s contention that Republicans that didn’t support comprehensive immigration reform were elitists.  Ingraham pointed out that Bush and his brother former Florida Governor Jeb Bush were elitists for not following the will of the majority who elected them….”

Huffy Post

“…”What’s interesting about our country, if you study history, is that there are some ‘isms’ that occasionally pop up. One is isolationism and its evil twin protectionism and its evil triplet nativism. So if you study the ’20s, for example, there was an American-first policy that said, ‘Who cares what happens in Europe?'” Bush said. “And there was an immigration policy that I think during this period argued we had too many Jews and too many Italians, therefore we should have no immigrants. And my point is that we’ve been through this kind of period of isolationism, protectionism and nativism. I’m a little concerned that we may be going through the same period. I hope that these ‘isms’ pass.”…”

Ingraham has NEVER liked GWB.  He is not good enough for her.  She does though respect the likes of John Tanton, Mark Kirkorian, and all those lovely racists who are controlled by Tanton.  Funny thing that.  She is repeating Tanton talking points against GWB.  The following day she goes after Planned Parenthood, never bothering to be honest with the fact that the person promoting the worst nativism in this nation’s recent history is one of the principle advocates of Planned Parenthood.

“...Ingraham pointed out that Bush recently said the movement was good for the country, but later “attacked” immigration issues that served as a key priority for many Tea Party members. The former President discussed nativism, calling it an “evil triplet” of isolationism and protectionism, and noting how, in the 1920s, U.S. debate on immigration was guided to some degree by prejudice against the country’s wave of Jewish and Italian immigrants. “I’m a little concerned,” said Bush, “that we may be going through the same period.”

Ingraham countered by saying that opposition to “so-called immigration reform” is “rooted in our belief in the rule of law” and outrage over politicians’ seeming hesitation to enforce laws regarding immigration and border control – it was not, she added, a symptom of personal feelings about foreigners….”

“…Planned Parenthood was right. Today, Live Action, an anti-abortion group run by James O’Keefe associate Lila Rose, posted a video it claims shows a Planned Parenthood employee in New Jersey instructing a “pimp” on how to get his underage and illegal immigrant sex workers STD testing and abortions.

According to Live Action, the man and a female companion are posing as a pimp and a prostitute. They ask the clinic employee about the legality of bringing 14- and 15-year-olds in for sexually transmitted disease testing and abortions. In the video, she apparently tells them that any sexual activity concerning a 14-year-old would have to be reported, and she told them where to go to get an abortion for someone that young without it being reported…”

Planned Parenthood

Ingraham also failed to mention the following:

“…The FBI has begun investigating a series of incidents in which a man told Planned Parenthood clinics around the country that he was running an underage sex trafficking ring, according to a spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood.

The FBI has been interviewing people at the clinics — a total of eight spread out over five states and D.C. — over the past two days, the spokeswoman tells TPM. She said Planned Parenthood has been giving law enforcement all the information they have.

The FBI did not return a request for comment.

Planned Parenthood requested an investigation earlier this month after the clinics reported getting nearly the same visit: A young man would come in, claim he needed treatment for a sexually transmitted disease, and then reveal to a staff member that he was operating an interstate sex trafficking ring that exploits minors and illegal immigrants.

The visits all happened within a span of five days. Planned Parenthood, which is a frequent target of anti-abortion groups, wrote a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder asking him to investigate the potential sex trafficking operation, but acknowledged that it might be a “hoax.”…”

She also left out this bit of information:

“…The Planned Parenthood Federation of America thinks that the visits, which happened between Jan. 11 and 15, are part of a James O’Keefe-style “sting.” But the group called in the FBI anyway.

“These multi-state visits from men claiming to be engaged in sex trafficking of minors may be a hoax,” Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood, wrote in a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder last week. “However, if the representations made by this man are true,” she wrote, they indicate violations of several sex trafficking, prostitution and child sex laws.

A spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood would not reveal the identity of the man, or men, who visited the clinics. The group does, however, suspect he has ties to Live Action, the pro-life, anti-Planned Parenthood group run by O’Keefe associate Lila Rose.

Live Action’s mission is to stop abortion, and its favored tool is undercover videos which the group says proves Planned Parenthood’s “willingness to repeatedly tell medically inaccurate misinformation,” “willingness to repeatedly violate mandatory reporting laws for statutory rape” and “racism.”

Rose, who runs the group, worked with O’Keefe on her first series of undercover Planned Parenthood videos in 2006 after the two met at the Leadership Institute….”

She also did not mention this:

“…In a statement, Planned Parenthood said Live Action visited two Central New Jersey clinics on Jan. 13, including the one in the video. A spokesman for Planned Parenthood said that, immediately after the visits, clinic employees told their managers and called local law enforcement. It was not immediately clear, however, whether the woman in the video notified management or police.

The statement says “appropriate action is being taken” into the woman’s actions.
“Planned Parenthood insists on the highest standards of care, and safeguards the trusted relationship we have with patients, families and communities. What appears on edited tapes made public today is not consistent with Planned Parenthood’s practices, and is under review. Phyllis Kinsler, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Central New Jersey (PPCNJ), has stated that, ‘the behavior of our employee, as portrayed on the video, if accurate, violates PPCNJ policies, as well as our core values of protecting the welfare of minors and complying with the law, and appropriate action is being taken.'”…”

  1. I have no love for certain people on the far right. Malkin and Ingraham are two of the more dishonest on the far right. Malkin has allowed VDARE to hide behind her skirt, and Ingraham has been quite catty and too prone to personal shots. HOWEVER, I do think that well over 90% of the stuff being thrown at Beck is just not true. I’ve watched his Fox News show since it came on in January, 2009. I’ve listened to his radio show regularly for about a year.

But the last few years – and even the war on terror – have also colored my views. For all I dislike Malkin and Ingraham, at least they are not hostile to the United States of America. They are greatly misguided, and I have fundamental, principled differences with them, particularly vis-a-vis immigration, but I can see that they are advocating for what they believe is good for America. And yes, the drug war in Mexico is spilling over here, and we ned to get that border secure. There are REAL problems, and if we don’t address them, we could find ourselves in deep trouble.

On the other hand, people around Obama, including Van Jones, and supporters like George Soros, have no love for America, and as such, how can we be sure that what they advocate is what they believe will be good for America? For all we know, they are running a country they dislike. And the video clips and audio that Glenn Beck is showing, and what is reported at certainly raises questions, as does the handling of the New Black Panther Party case.

This isn’t a case of one Mormon sticking up for another, but while Beck is somewhat libertarian (and events, particularly the gay marriage debate, over the last three years have pushed me in that direction), he’s not the enemy of most Republicans. Did you even try to read The 5000 Year Leap?

  2. SJ,

I have read some of your stuff before, but I am regretting that I have not bookmarked your site. You are a breath of fresh air. I am so sick of the nativists and the crazy idiots in the conservative movement. I want a responsible conservatism. I want to be able to identity myself as being conservative without being embarrassed about it. Anyway, keep up the good work. I am going to link you on my site.

  3. Pablo, at the same time, let’s make sure it is a REAL case of racsim, and not something trumped up the way they went after Beck as an anti-Semite for what, accurately reporting what Soros said in a 60 Minutes interview?

  4. About Ingraham…I used to listen to her religiously UNTIL the Harriet Miers deal. At first Ingraham was angry with GWB for NOT picking one of the judges that would instigate a fight (and ratings at a time when she was negotiating to remain on the air), but after watching John Roberts, she had to admit that he had made a brilliant choice. So when the second nomination came up, she was SURE that the talk show mafia’s time had come; instead GWB picked the woman who ADVISED him on all his “brilliant” choices.

Ingraham went balistic! –And found that all those doors to other media open to her. All of a sudden, she became the anti-Bush “conservative”. And I thought, “hey, what happened to all those rants about those terrible Liberals bashing “a war time president”???

I also remember when one of those people from the Immigration Department came on her show and told her bluntly that the border towns HAVE laws that could curb the flow of illegals but REFUSES to implement them because they NEED the money that the illegals bring to the town’s economy. (Purchasing, rents, etc.)

Ingraham went on and on about “following the law”…then in the next hour talked about her speeding tickets and how she should get off without the “amensty” of paying fines!

That was it for me. I agree with you totally, Ingraham and her gang of pretend conservatives cost the GOP congress–and eventually the White House.

I have said it over and over, if GWB had been a Democrat, after giving 2 nations the Bill of Rights and ending female apartheid, keeping this nation from another attack, 2 quickly recovered economy after the busted dot com and 9/11, and remaining low unemployement, would have his likeness being measured for Mt. Rushmore!

Problem is that he’s a Republican–and the people who are supposed to be speaking for his party won’t even call themselves “Republicans”. They admit (rather proudly) that they USE the party and that they, in their intellectual high judgement, do NOT support the candidates of the party they profess to be the base of.

Such dishonesty made/makes the group that wins elections (Independents) run.
