Bachmann Don’t Know Much about History

Share

“…”You’re the state where the shot was heard around the world in Lexington and Concord,”

If Joe Biden had said this you would never ever ever hear the end of it.  It would be used as a prime example of why Biden does not love America.

Are we dealing with a gender based double standard?  Is part of the problem here the fact that the tea party types are still dealing with their school-boy crushes on the Glam Girls of the GOP?

Seriously, a man could not get away with this.  Neither could a Democrat.

“…”So I misplaced the battles Concord and Lexington by saying they were in New Hampshire,” Bachmann posted on her Facebook page later. “It was my mistake, Massachusetts is where they happened. New Hampshire is where they are still proud of it!”

Though Bachmann probably wasn’t the first to confuse Concord, N.H., with Concord, Mass., her mistake was striking given her roots in the tea party movement, which takes its name from the dumping of tea into Boston Harbor by angry American colonists in December 1773, 16 months before the Battle of Lexington Green.

Some 30 miles to the north and with tea bag in hand, Bachmann was greeted with applause when she asked the crowd, “How about a United States president that gets what the American people want in 2012?” and later proclaimed, “Are you in for 2012? I’m in!”…”

Politico

“…”I’m thankful that you are the first in the nation state because you are the liberty state,” Bachmann said. “That is your charge. You keep that baton of liberty. You’ve done it very well for almost 20 generations from the time the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, and I’m sure the very first one came up to New Hampshire and said, ‘This is where I want to be.'”…”

When a Democrat makes a gaffe about history, especially something terribly obvious about American History, and our Founding, the far right talking machine never lets it go.  They mock, they denigrate, they make fun of the gaffer  until they become a laughing stock.

BUT – they never bother mentioning it when one of their own makes a mistake.

Take Michele Bachmann – PLEASE! (sorry)

Memeorandum

How many “Conservative sources to you see covering the story?  Granted Memeorandum is something of a popularity contest, ignoring very real sources and articles, it is still a way to watch the movement of a story.   There are a few sources covering the story:  Weasel Zappers, Frum Forum, Of Buckley and Beatles, and Libertarian Republican.  Weasel Zappers and Libertarian Republican make excuses for the dimwit.  I swear this woman should be blond!

The comments at Frum Forum are highly entertaining, and many are quite snarky – something I would say.

Michele Bachmann is terribly gaff-prone. This one makes you want to barf!

“…In a three-page Christmas letter from 2003 acquired by a local blog, Bachmann waxed optimistic on her four children’s suitability as spouses. 13-year-old Elisa “was born to be the perfect wife… Future mates will have to apply as she does not advertise herself.” After marveling at the way her daughter Caroline “pulls her jeans over her 14-inch hips,” Bachmann noted that “King Henry had his six wives, and if our Caroline had been one of them, I think she would have been called Caroline the Vibrant.” She described her son, Harrison, as “utter perfection” and a “female fantasy treasure.” And her eldest son, Lucas, got a cheeky personal ad: “Chick magnate [sic] needs wife to put him through med school, clean house, pay bills and run his life. Must be willing to gamble against onslaught of socialized medicine diminishing return on investment.”…”

Try this:

“…Bachmann was among the congressional delegates who visited Iraq in July 2007. Whereas many of her peers came back with doubts about Bush’s war, Bachmann came back with a renewed sense of righteousness—and some groan-worthy Americanisms. She described touring one of Saddam Hussein’s former palaces to the Minneapolis Star Tribune: “It’s absolutely huge. I turned to my colleagues and said there’s a commonality with the Mall of America, in that it’s on that proportion.”…”

Let’s be honest here.  Michele Bachmann thinks she is going to run for POTUS.  She is not capable of being a dog catcher, let alone running for POTUS.  She is not bright.  She has no wisdom or rational logical.

Yea, it’s a hoot to make fun of her.  I give her points for being a pushy brazen broad. Good for her.  I don’t appreciate the way the far right slobbers all over itself treating her like she is an “expert” in any field.  She is not.  She’s a pathetically said, not to bright, opportunist.  I guess that makes her the consummate politician.

The purpose of this article is not to pillory Michele Bachmann, even though it is a fun and easy hobby.  It is about the far right talking heads and tea party supporting media.  They wax poetic all day about gaffes made by Joe Biden and Barack Obama and any other Dem.  Perhaps they need to try a little intellectual honesty for a change.

Of course, this is an excellent excuse for one of my Harrison Ford scenes.
