The Pink Flamingo is still trying to figure out why Arizona is such a breeding ground for weird little nativist creeps. Remember a couple weeks ago when Russell Pearce went racial during the great little day of tea parties?
This post is about some fascinating little connections these darling little goose-stepping people have.
One of The Pink Flamingo’s favorite liberal bloggers is Steve Lemons, AKA The Feathered Bastard. His column in the Phoenix New Times constantly contradicts the old adage that there are no modern day Nazis. So…
The other day, one of the leading pro-Hitler folks was in Phoenix (an appropriate place for him, considering his supporters). Steve Lemons was also there. So was Laine Lawless. This is important because Lawless supported convicted murderer and minuteman Shawna Ford.
“...I counted about 15 attendees, but there could have been a few more. Most of the faces were familiar. Local, neo-Nazi Nationalist Coalition leader Jesse Curnow was there, as was nativist nutbar Laine Lawless.
Lawless has taken up the cause of defending convicted child-murderer and minutewoman Shawna Forde, who was sentenced to death in February for her part in a deadly home-invasion raid in Arivaca that killed a 9-year old girl and the girl’s father.
Known for burning the Mexican flag at anti-immigrant events, Lawless had been at the Jerry’s event two years ago. This time, she tried to cover her face when she came out to keep me from photographing her, which I thought was pretty stupid, since she knows who I am and vice versa….”
Let’s just play follow the bouncing ball.
Jesse Curnow, according to Lemons has a Ron Paul bumper sticker on it.
“…On the truck’s rear bumper, there was a Ron Paul sticker, so I snapped a picture of it. (Surprise, surprise, another racist for Ron Paul!) Curnow tried to block me, but I’d already gotten it.…”
“…At this point, it’s almost a cliche. Whenever I’m taking a peek at some white-supremacist Web site, like Stormfront.org, or some Klan site like the Empire Knights of the KKK, there’s either a page, or a banner or a declaration from a member, touting Ron Paul as the savior of America. Former KKK Grand Wizard Don Black, webmaster of white supremacist message board Stormfront.org, has donated $500 to Paul’s campaign for President. Even when informed of who Black was, Paul’s campaign refused to return the money, saying that Paul planned to use the filthy lucre towards positive ends, so the evil-doer’s ill-intent had therefore been trumped. Stormfront.org still offers a link for members who want to donate to Paul, and shows a U.S. map of meet-up groups in support of a Paul candidacy. Also, it’s worth noting that one of Black’s good friends, former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke is constantly trumpeting Paul’s cause….”
I’m not quite sure how you do that some layers of separation game, but this one sure is fun.
From the SPLC:
“…Lawless’ denials about the NSM E-mail notwithstanding, the Mexican flag-burning nativist is known to be friendly with at least one prominent neo-Nazi. On her blog last October, she praised J.T. Ready — a one-time member of the NSM, founder of numerous armed border vigilante groups, and buddy of immigrant-bashing Arizona State Sen. Russell Pearce — as a “patriot” at risk of being “target[ed] for assassination by DHS [the U.S. Department of Homeland Security] and/or the [Mexican] cartels.”
Lawless, whose group is listed as a hate group by the SPLC, and Ready have something else in common. They may be the last remaining defenders of Minuteman American Defense (MAD) founder Shawna Forde, who was sentenced to death in February for the slayings of Raul Flores and his 9-year-old daughter Brisenia during a May 2009 invasion of their home in Arivaca, Ariz. Lawless defends and promotes Forde on several websites; as well as in an eternally “soon-to-be-released” book about Forde titled Blonde on the Border.
Lawless, who offers no evidence at all to support her contention that Forde is innocent, has convinced virtually no one. On Monday, a Tucson judge added 65 years to Forde’s two death sentences for the attempted first-degree murder of Gina Gonzalez, Flores’ wife and the mother of Brisenia and five counts of burglary, aggravated assault and armed robbery. Gonzalez was wounded, but she managed to fire back, driving Forde and her two accomplices out of her home.
During the first week of Forde’s capital murder trial, the often bizarre Lawless sneaked into the courtroom clad in a wig, sunglasses and dark coat, violating the judge’s order barring her from the courtroom because she was scheduled to appear as a witness for the defense. She protested to the judge that she was a “citizen journalist” entitled to cover the story, but was thrown out of the courtroom anyway….”
Now, we’re getting to the really fun part.
“...Lawless’ “patriot” pal J.T. Ready doesn’t bother to protest Forde’s innocence. To him, the double murderer is a hero. “I would like to personally thank Shawna Forde for doing the job the U.S. government won’t do itself. We can all sleep a little better at night knowing that at least one Mex drug trafficker scumbag is gone for good,” he wrote in July 2009. (Forde and her accomplices believed that their victims were drug dealers who would be flush with cash, which turned out not to be the case.) “Too bad we do not have one hundred thousand more Shawna Forde’s [sic] in America. … Instead of getting locks and cold steel bars, Shawna should be presented with the key to the city where she took out the trash.”..'”
Yes, boys and girls, we are now having fun!
And, yes, boys and girls, it gets even better.
And even better than this….
And even better…! JT Ready’s little friend, Jeff Hall bought it, bin Laden style, when his 10 year old son shot him in the head. (H/T Sally Vee)
Are we having fun yet? I know The Pink Flamingo is!
J. T. Ready and Russell Pearce are buds from way back, pretending they aren’t.
“...I’ve already exposed Pearce’s presence at Ready’s baptism into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and the fact that Pearce ordained Ready as an elder in the Mormon Church. This, despite Pearce’s denials concerning his past involvement with Ready.
This is how Pearce responded to my request for comment concerning the LDS material, also obtained from a confidential source:
“Just the facts Ma’am. Steve the truth for a change would be nice. I had nothing to do with Mr. Ready’s baptism, I was invited to attend and I did. I can guarantee if they knew later he would be involved with hate groups that baptism would have never taken place. No one could have known or guessed he would later become involved with radical hate groups.”
You can read the full e-mail thread, here.
Ready makes some new allegations regarding Pearce. The most intriguing is Ready’s claim that he played the part of a stalking horse for Pearce at one time.
“I could be the voicebox,” said Ready during an interview he gave to Gilman and me. “I can also be a bell weather to tell how much resistance we’re going to get from the ADL, how much resistance are we going to get from the mainstream media, how much resistance can we get from the people…how can we push the bar a little bit further, keep him in the safe zone, and inch up forward and I take all of the brunt of the hit and so forth.”…”
And so, it all goes right back to Shawn Forde.
And, boys and girls, The Pink Flamingo hasn’t even mentioned Sheriff Joe!
