The Pink Flamingo is suffering from a serious case of blogger burnout.  I am terribly discouraged about the political scene and what is going on in the GOP.  I’ve reached the point where I just want to do something different.

I think this post should explain exactly how I am feeling at this current time.

This is plain old stolen from Mental Floss.

He that lies down with dogs shall rise up with fleas!”

One of the reasons the Founding Fathers appear, to the uneducated libertarian dweebs among us, to be far superior to today’s average person is because they were far better educated that most people are today (and it has nothing to do with schooling).  The reason they were far better educated is because they were well rounded in their scholastic reading.  In other words, they had a splendid grasp of the fine arts and the classics.  They knew that Hercules was a mythological figure and not a character in a bad Disney cartoon.  They were familiar with Homer, Ovid, and Virgil.  Are you?

Today, our education has become so degraded, these men look like intellectual giants. In the latter part of the 18th Century, they were simply normal, educated individuals who fully embraced what we today call the Age of Reason.  Today we are living in what I call the Age of Extremism.  There is a difference, a vast difference, one where intellect and reason prevailed, instead of the ignorant unbridled raw emotion of today’s extremist of any ilk.

How many words or phrases can you come up with for drunk?  Ben Franklin came up with about 200.  They were first published in the Pennsylvania Gazette on January 6, 1730.

Said he:

“…“The Phrases in this Dictionary are not (like most of our Terms of Art) borrow’d from Foreign Languages, neither are they collected from the Writings of the Learned in our own, but gather’d wholly from the modern Tavern-Conversation of Tiplers. I do not doubt but that there are many more in use; and I was even tempted to add a new one my self under the Letter B, to wit, Brutify’d: But upon Consideration, I fear’d being guilty of Injustice to the Brute Creation, if I represented Drunkenness as a beastly Vice, since, ’tis well-known, that the Brutes are in general a very sober sort of People.”…”

I don’t see a contact form to do this with, but I know you moderate comments so I guess this will work.

Have a look here about the activities of theAyn Rand Institute.

I will give it a look. Brought it up. Will get to it today. This may work with a post I’m planning for tomorrow. THANKS!

    Chin up, Pinky.

I disagree. I think there is a basic and very ugly reason the Losertarians are so CRAZY (and yeah I am using that word, nothing tame here) about the Founding Fathers is because the Founding Fathers lived in the days when minorities, women, and children knew their places.

Where there were real class division between the haves and the have nots. When, how does the song go…”men were men…didn’t need no welfare state, everybody pulled their weight.”

They forget, honestly, when people died young, working from sun up to sun down with no holidays and no vacations. They have not learned the lesson of Europe and China and Cuba and why they turned Socialist and Communist…and how the unions actually allowed America to keep their system of Capitalism.

They do not comprehend that Freedom can only be individual if that individual needs no one else; if that person has all wealth and all power. That Freedom is actually a priviledge of a United America who grants them that right for it is only with a UNITED group of individuals willing to pool their resources and fight and die for each other can each individual attain and maintain personal freedom.

The sadness Pink Lady isn’t the GOP, well maybe it is, because they have allowed the Losertarians to boss them around and represent them.

But hang in there, the majority of the GOP are still Republicans–and then there’s God. In the end there is always Him.

Thanks. I will. Just downloaded a new book about Rand onto my Kindle. Haven’t even had time to turn it on. Don’t even ask the title! My mind isn’t working that fast today.
