What happens when over half the people in the country dislike your presumptive nominee and he isn’t nominated already yet?
What happens when independents don’t like him?
What happens when he is a liberal pretending to be conservative, and already hedging back to liberal?
What happens when you chose your nominee ONLY because he is seen to be able to beat Obama and can’t?
“…“President Barack Obama is on a roll in the key swing states,” Assistant Director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute Peter A. Brown said in a statement. “If the election were today, he would carry at least two states. And if history repeats itself, that means he would be reelected. But the election is not today. It is seven months away. Two months ago President Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney were in a statistical tie in Ohio and Florida.”
The GOP nominees have terrible favorability ratings in these three states, perhaps a result of the elongated and increasingly contentious primary season.
Santorum is under water in all three states, including his home state.
Romney only has a positive favorability rating in Florida, where 41 percent say they have a favorable view of the former Massachusetts governor, versus 36 percent who have an unfavorable view. In Ohio, Romney is at 36 percent favorable versus 43 percent unfavorable, and in Pennsylvania he’s at 37 percent favorable and 38 percent unfavorable.
President Obama has positive favorability ratings in all three states, with 51 percent favorable in Florida compared to 44 percent unfavorable, 49 percent favorable in Ohio versus 46 percent unfavorable and 48 percent favorable in Pennsylvania against 46 percent unfavorable….”
Well, it’s like this – Tampa, we have a problem!
“…Half of all Americans now express unfavorable views of Mitt Romney, a new high for the GOP presidential hopeful in Washington Post-ABC News polling. The deteriorating public impressions of the former Massachusetts governor foreshadow a significant obstacle for him as he tries to shift the focus of his campaign toward a potential match-up against President Obama.
Romney’s negative numbers have jumped around this election cycle, but the overall pattern is similar to his trajectory four years ago: As he became better known, his unfavorables shot up far more rapidly than his positive numbers. Negative impressions are up eight percentage points in the past week, nudging past the previous high, which occurred about the time Romney suffered a big loss in the South Carolina primary….”
Let’s start with health care. David Frum, one of Mittens’ most apologetic apologists is now embracing universal health care because it’s Romney Care! I kid you not.
“...In 2006, Mitt Romney did the heavy lifting to prepare Republicans for this moment. He readied himself to fight an election as a Republican presidential candidate who not only accepted the ideal of universal coverage, but who had actually delivered it. That would have been quite a story to tell. Had things gone slightly differently in 2008, it might right now fall to President Romney’s Solicitor General Paul Clement to explain to a sympathetic Supreme Court why the mandates in Romneycare in fact are constitutional….”
Yes, you read it correctly. This man’s arrogance and his inability to connect with normal people in the real world, is a disaster. He is opening the GOP up to ridicule and electoral disaster.
Then there is foreign policy. He has a foreign policy, but it is way back there in the cold war. The worst of it is the MSM is pushing Romney for an Obama victory in Nov. and the RMSM is refusing to vet their precious little Mittens. So, it’s up to people like Leno to vet him and ask serious questions? His answer on Russia is revealing, and so very out of touch.
“…Leno also pressed Romney on his comments yesterday that Russia was the country’s greatest “geopolitical foe.” He read Romney a quote from the current Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev, suggesting that Romney was stuck in the past. Leno asked Romney if the Russians, who have American fast food, “love cars” and “wear fancy clothes” weren’t more like Americans than “our enemies.”
“The Russian people, certainly, are people like us, but you have Vladimir Putin and Mr. Medvedev and they’re continuing to support Iran and to keep us from putting in place crippling sanctions against Iran,” Romney said. “They continue to support Assad, Bashir Assad in Syria. They continue to support people like Chavez and Castro. They basically stand up for the world’s worst actors, and when America tries to put pressure on those actors with sanctions or other UN actions, Russia always stands up for what I would consider to be the world’s worst leaders.”…”
What is even more disconcerting is the fact that the headlines and just a few news dollops I’ve used here come from a thirty minute period on Tuesday morning. It is becoming more and more evident that, while Romney may clinch the nomination, he is going to lose in record fashion. Unless his little friends manipulate gas prices so high they destroy the average American as a way to defeat Obama, Romney is going to lose the way Barry Goldwater did.
The Pink Flamingo is interested in preserving the GOP, maintaining our majority in the House and making gains in the Senate. There is no way we can do this and support Mitt Romney. He is a disaster thrust upon us by the MSM and certain insiders who think Mitt is Mr. Perfect.
Let’s be brutally honest here. The press chooses our candidates, and our nominees. On Friday, the last of Newt’s press corp was taken from him. Several weeks earlier Ron Paul lost his. The liberal press has now declared both Newt and Santorum nothing but pests and hecklers, determined to prevent Romney’s coronation.
The reason Newt has faded is because the press hasn’t covered a damn thing he has done in weeks. THEY decided it was over and pulled the plug. THEY decided that Gary Johnson was not worth the time. THEY decided neither was Jon Huntsman. THEY pick and choose, and WE, the little people, are told we must follow their choices.
We the little people don’t have a chance.
For the Dems, George Soros is Mr. Money Bags. On the libertarian right, we’re talking the Koch Brothers. Let’s be honest here. The reason we are in this terrible mess is because of their Americans for Prosperity, Crossroads, and the pandering of Reince Prebius.
We started this election cycle with so many hopes and dreams. Now we are watching them being shattered. We’re going to see a heck of a lot being shattered, including the GOP.
