Is an IRS Indictment in Nikki’s Immediate Future

The Pink Flamingo has, for ages, been telling you that Nikki Haley was one of the governors we would soon see either doing a perp walk or under indictment.  Well…… It could happen – any day now!  According to the Charleston Post and Curier, Haley has not been informed that the DOJ and IRS are investigating her.

“...Asked by The Daily Caller to clarify what charges, if any, Haley will be facing, a Department of Justice spokesman responded, “We would have no comment.” Asked if that meant no investigation into Gov. Haley’s alleged tax fraud was underway, the spokesman responded in an email: “It means we have no comment.”

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment….”

Palmetto Public Record

According to FTS, the scary bad boy news of SC, things could be interesting.

“…Our sources on the Sikh Temple saga were not willing to go that far, although they confirmed that Haley’s father Ajit S. Randhawa will soon face a day of reckoning related to his role in the scandal – which was first uncovered by FITS nearly a year-and-a-half ago….But what about Haley? After all, she ran the books for the Sikh Religious Society of South Carolina (and was a former board member at the temple) and her campaign and personal finances could very well be mixed up with the scandal.

“She is part of the investigation, that’s all I’m comfortable saying at this point,” our source said.
FITS first uncovered evidence of financial irregularities at the temple in November 2010 – a day before Haley was elected governor.

Several months later – in April 2011 – we reported that federal agents were asking questions about the temple’s finances based on information provided to them by the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED). More recently, we’ve been told that this federal investigation has expanded to cover Haley’s family finances – and that Haley’s father is a central figure in the probe.

Specifically, Randhawa has been accused of providing fraudulent tax receipts in exchange for donations to the temple as well as illegal campaign activity on Haley’s behalf and improper cash disbursements – including disbursements to Haley and her family.

…Haley has faced extensive bad press, however, regarding discrepancies in her income. An indictment of Haley’s father would be politically disastrous for the scandal-scarred first-term governor….”

It is fascinating how everyone in SC knows Nikki is a walking ethics violation and a one term governor – but everyone outside SC seems to adore her.  She is developing a very bad reputation within the state, but it is strange how the right rushes to defend her  – without bothering to check with Republicans in SC to see how hey feel about her.

Sister Toldjah

“...You may recall that Palin raced to the defense of her surrogate Mama Grizzly in 2010 when gubernatorial candidate Haley was hit with multiple allegations of marital infidelity. Palin confidently asserted that Brave Nikki was the victim of a conspiracy by the old-guard Republican Establishment in the state to destroy the Conservative Reformer (a claim undermined a bit by the fact that the chief accuser, right-wing SC blogger and former Haley aide Will Folks, was about as close to said Establishment as your average under-the-freeway homeless person).

Haley prevailed in 2010. But you can only imagine the reaction if she is now taken down by the Obama administration Justice Department, temporarily distracted from its usual work of confiscating firearms, seeking to tie Haley to a non-Christian religion which she abandoned when she became a Methodist years ago….

Meanwhile, if the hammer does come down on Haley, calmer minds may wonder about South Carolina’s executive succession laws, insofar as the Republican Lt. Gov. was forced to resign under threat of indictment earlier this month after his own issues with the handling of money got him into deep trouble. This is a chronic problem for South Carolina Republicans, dating back at least to the incident when Haley’s mentor, Gov. Mark Sanford, went MIA on an “Appalachian Trail hike” that veered off to an Argentinian love nest….”

Daily Caller

It’s all in the family.

“…There has been a great deal of chatter lately regarding a federal investigation of the Sikh worship center run by Gov. Nikki Haley’s father, Dr. Ajit Randhawa. Speculation on the probe’s target has run anywhere from delinquent taxes to money laundering and tax fraud, with varying accounts of the governor’s own involvement in the temple’s shady finances.

While much of that speculation remains hearsay, at least one piece of the puzzle has been put into place. According to documents obtained by Palmetto Public Record, the Internal Revenue Service has been investigating since March 2011 whether the Sikh Religious Society of South Carolina illegally supported a political candidate during Haley’s campaign for governor, violating the organization’s tax-exempt status.

As a registered nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, the Sikh temple is “absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for elective public office.” According to the IRS, even written statements of position in favor of a candidate “clearly violate the prohibition against political campaign activity” and may result in revocation of tax-exempt status and the imposition of certain excise taxes….”

South Carolina had the opportunity to elect an excellent and honorable governor, Gresham Barrett.  Instead, they were blinded by flash and trash.  They wanted something new and different, instead they elected Mark Sanford, II – only more corrupt.   Now, South Carolina is suffering from buyer‘s remorse.

The real crime here, along with Nikki’s little problems, is the fact that the far right keeps propping her up, ignoring facts.  Facts are a nasty thing.  The Pink Flamingo has a source back in South Carolina who has told me of an other investigation, not even on the radar.  This one could land her in the women’s prison in Columbia.
