What bothers The Pink Flamingo about Mitt Romney’s irresponsible proclamation that Russia is our greatest enemy is the fact that he appears to be completely ignoring the real enemy: Extreme Islam. We’re currently dealing with one incompetent POTUS who doesn’t comprehend where the enemy is. We don’t need another. Unfortunately, the conservative elite are determined to shove this faux-conservative down our throats, no matter the fact that he believes nothing.
David Weigel, in a recent column had one of the best commentaries about why he did not vote for Romney. I do agree. In his column he wrote:
“…Mitt Romney did not flirt with an “ideas” campaign. At least 18 minutes of my campaign-trail recordings consist of Romney reciting or singing “America the Beautiful.” His strategy: Win just about enough Republicans to grind out a nomination in a year that the incumbent might lose. It will almost surely work, so Romney doesn’t need any more help….”
Romney is clueless about life in the real world. We are the ones who are going to end up paying the price for the elites demanding we vote for him.
A recent study reports that Muslims in this country could swing the upcoming election. Frankly, I think their numbers are far too small, but this is an harbinger of things to come. If Romney doesn’t recognize that we have a problem with Islam, we don’t need him in office.
“...There are about 1.2 million registered Muslim voters in the United States, according to the study, “Engaging American Muslims.” More religious Muslims and those more involved in their mosques are more likely to vote, it found. The biggest Muslim populations are in New York and California, which are unlikely to be battleground states in November.
But the next largest numbers of Muslim voters are found in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Virginia, all of which could be key battlegrounds between President Barack Obama and his Republican opponent.
Florida and Ohio, two states that have been decided by razor-thin margins in recent years, also have enough Muslim voters to make a difference to the final result, the report says. Of course, many other, larger constituencies, from Hispanics to women to the unemployed to political independents, could also claim to be the key ingredient in a winning coalition….”
And Muslim voters have much the same concerns as the population at large, with domestic issues and the economy dominating, the study says. Most Muslims voted for Bush in 2000, Democratic Sen. John Kerry in 2004 and Obama in 2008. They are more likely than the population as a whole to approve of Obama’s performance now, the study found….”
“…French President Sarkozy says, “Our Muslim compatriots should be able to live and practice their religion like anyone else…but it can only be a French Islam and not just an Islam in France.” In other words, the Islamist preaching that is incompatible with Western secular democracy must be combated, while the practice of an Islam that is compatible must be allowed. France’s recent decision to ban several extremist clerics like Sheikh Yousef al-Qaradawi from the country is a step in the right direction.
Unfortunately, the math is on the side of the Islamists and terrorist groups who recruit from them. Their numbers will grow every day until the European leadership and anti-Islamist Muslims blunt and reverse the spread of Islamist preaching….”
The key to all of this is in the amount of money being spent on the military.
“…Last year, Russia allocated 1.516 trillion rubles (about 49 billion dollars) for defense purposes, according to the Audit Chamber…”
