One of Mitt Romney’s supporters put it best. She had just spent $25,000 to attend a fund raiser for the GOP nominee presumptive.
“...I don’t think the common person is getting it…my college kid, the baby sitters, the nails ladies — everybody who’s got the right to vote — they don’t understand what’s going on. I just think if you’re lower income — one, you’re not as educated, two, they don’t understand how it works, they don’t understand how the systems work, they don’t understand the impact….”
The Pink Flamingo has been accused of becoming “socialist” because I find Mitt Romney incompetent, plastic, liberal, a fake Republican, and just plain creepy. I have repeatedly stated that his version of Vulture Capitalism has nothing to do with how the average person I have dubbed We the Little People, live our lives. The right is so busy defending him that they have pushed 99% of the American People – including a vast majority of Republican voters, under the bus.
“…At the evening fundraiser at the estate of Julia and David Koch on Meadow Lane in Southampton, the suggested contribution was $75,000 per couple — with funds going to Romney’s campaign, the Republican National Committee, the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee. …”
The brutal reality of politics is that these fundraisers are terribly important, mother’s milk. You must raise close to a billion dollars, if not more, in order to compete, these days. I don’t mind this at all. If you want to say that The Pink Flamingo does mind, you are lying. If you think that I am against people pulling up in their Range Rovers, and new cars, you are lying. (FYI – the reason The Pink Flamingo does not have a new vehicles is that I can’t find one to replace my old Durango. I think most new cars today are ugly, poorly made, and far too over priced.) I’m the person who just finished shopping at Louis Vuitton on Thursday, so don’t pull the socialist you know what on me.
What I do resent is this:
In other words – We the Little People – aren’t really qualified to vote because we don’t know what is going on. I don’t know about you, but I find this repulsive and revolting. Are these the people who are supporting Mitt Romney? What’s more, last time they supported Barack Obama. When they were supporting Barack Obama, they were repulsive and revolting.
What is happening to the GOP? Are people so anxious to defeat Barack Obama that they will literally sell their souls in a Faustian agreement? When this type of thing happens, the person who sells his/her soul ends up in hell.
This is what the GOP is being consigned to, electoral hell. When you have a candidate who is known for his absolute arrogance, no matter how he is marketed, you are in deep trouble. The reality of life is major fundraisers in places like the Hamptons are a fact of life. Funny thing, though, the Hamptons are a former Democrat enclave.
That’s what worries The Pink Flamingo the most. In order to raise money, Mitt Romney is now hanging out with people who were all behind Barack Obama in 2008. I don’t mind moderates, and I don’t mind liberals in the GOP, but when you market yourself to Democrats, then pretend to be a conservative, give me a break!
The Pink Flamingo is well aware that a person must run conservative (and or liberal) for a nomination, then moderate. Mitt Romney is already turning liberal. If he is this liberal now, what is he going to be after elected?
Then again, his supporters don’t think 99% of us know what we are doing or why we are voting. He is so arrogant and tone deaf, he is doing nothing to correct the nasty image they are creating.
Funny thing about class warfare, it works both ways.
