The Pink Flamingo would like to go on record that, never in my life have I eaten at Chick-Fil-A. I have never been that hungry, nor disparate – yet. I don’t eat at nasty-smelling places where you reek of grease just by stepping through their doors, or walking by one in a nasty food court in some mall. I don’t eat food that is so full of hormones and preservatives that you can alter your human DNA just by smelling it.
One of the best parts about swearing off FOX News, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Michael Medved, Mark Steyn, Starr Parker, and every other conservative talking head or columnist, is that I miss all the self-righteous crap that goes on in the world.
Let’s be brutally honest here. The only reason this story is even being pushed on the right is to draw attention from Mitt Romney and the pending GOP Train Wreck.
“...When Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy stated his support for traditional marriage last week, it set off a firestorm of public debate. In just a few hours, the battle lines had been drawn — in cyberspace. Tens of thousands of commenters on websites such as the Huffington Post and Chick-fil-A’s Facebook page either vowed to boycott the Atlanta-based purveyor of chicken sandwiches or pledged to support them….”
Chick-fil-A is a privately held company. The owner of the company, Dan Cathy, can do or say what ever he wants. He has a right to do that. Naturally the minions of the far left attacked him, immediately. He was rescued by the minions of the far right.
“… Not surprisingly, as the media mouthpiece for the Christian right, Fox News is stepping into the imbroglio. As reported by News Hounds Ellen, Mike Huckabee is crusading for Chick-fil-A. And On last night’s “Factor,” Bill O’Reilly and Laura Ingraham dissed those who are dissing Chick-fil-A because saying that gay marriage is inviting God’s wrath is no big deal. And in their attempt to defend Mr. Cathy, they left out some inconvenient truths regarding the extent of his homophobia. No spin zone, indeed!
Dan Cathy said this “I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say ‘we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage’ and I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about.” Bill did not quote Cathy but rather minimized his comments: “He, I guess, has been critical of gay marriage.” (Ya think?) He added that because of Cathy’s comments, some folks, like Boston’s mayor Tom Mennino, are “trying to ruin his business” because they disagree with Cathy. Ingraham feels that this story is “disturbing” and – wait for it – “we’re supposed to be able to express our viewpoints without being called haters, horrible…” Remember that quote, sports fans, next time O’Reilly denigrates somebody as being godless or a liberal “loon.” And then she said that she thinks that “the majority of Americans probably agree with” the president of Chick-fil-A. Bill and Laura seemed to think it was no big deal because he said, to a Baptist Minister, “look this is what I believe…”
When Bill said that if his hiring practices were discriminatory, that would be understandable, Ingraham validated his point by saying it would be “disturbing.” When according to Bill, it’s just an “opinion” that Cathy holds, Ingraham snarked that apparently you can’t have that opinion and run a business and “you can’t speak freely because if you do they demonize you…” (Like what RUSH LIMBAUGH tried to do to Sandra Fluke?). She added that the company takes great pride in welcoming and hiring gay people. Bill concluded by – ready for it – “it’s trying to hurt people with whom you disagree.” (Like when Bill demonized those members of congress who didn’t vote for the prohibition of sex selection abortions or when he distorted the writings of a professor, with whom he disagred, who then received death threats? We all know what happened after he vilified Dr. Tiller.)..”
I don’t know about you, but I’m sick of this. I’m sick of the hate of the right and the left. I’m sick of the far right and the far left preaching their own little version of what is right and what is wrong.
If gays and lesbians want to be married, go ahead. Have at it. Yep, my opinion has changed. No, the left did not cause it. My opinion has been changed by the irrational hatred of the far right. I’m sick of it. I’m sick of targeting men and women who don’t follow their ideas of what society should and should not be.
Guess what? I’m also sick of their ignorant version of Sodom and Gomorrah, being used as a way to persecute an entire group of people. They don’t want to talk about Ezekiel’s version of why they were destroyed. If so, then we’d need to give people like Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor, Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul, Rand Paul, Jim DeMint, Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, Mike Huckabee, and everyone else who rails against gay rights the boot.
Seems that the destruction came because the cities were quite wealthy and refused to be charitable to those i need. Seems the cities as a municipality or a city-state refused to allow social services and help those who were in need.
Can you smell the brimstone Mr. Libertarian Tea Party Person?
I became disgusted by the Left, years ago. Now, I am as disgusted by the right as I am the left. They are both silly, immature, shallow, irrational, and pandering for dollars. They are all attention whores. Either side would sell their grandmother down the creek for a buck, and give Green Stamps and a free coffee mug along with it.
This bunch talks a good game about hating gays because it is in the Bible. So is incest, same story, same people, Lot and his daughters. They weren’t condemned. So, I guess incest is just peachy-keen, but gay marriage is wrong?
Christ hung out with sinners. He didn’t hang out with saints. He made it a point of visiting with the most hated tax-collector of the day. If He were here today, I suspect He would be sitting down to have dinner with a gay or lesbian couple, and ignoring the Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor, Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul, Rand Paul, Jim DeMint, Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, Mike Huckabee and religious of the world.
Can you imagine the snit they would be in?
This same bunch thinks that if a person is gay or lesbian they are fine if they deny their nature. That may be fine for Marcus Bachmann, but not everyone is a hypocrite the way he is. Please don’t try telling me that a very butch, dyke lesbian is “feminine” and should cherish her female qualities. That’s a crock. It’s the same crock that says a very female man can be a macho Bubba. Ain’t gonna happen.
Most gays and lesbians are the way that they are because they were born that way. Yes, there are gays and lesbians in nature. The far right just won’t stop lying to themselves about it. Do you actually want to condemn these men and women to a life of being alone, while everyone around them has a home, family and someone to love?
I suspect anyone who thinks this is a cruel, vicious, vindictive, and just plain evil, selfish person. Take it from me, being alone is not all that much fun. Being alone, no matter what the reason, is just plain heart-breaking. It has taken The Pink Flamingo over a decade to get over the betrayal I faced with someone went to my fiance and destroyed any chance of a life. During the process he was absolutely destroyed. He died a broken man, a shell of what he could have been.
I’ve had “well meaning” Christian friends tell me that the Lord just wants me to remain single. It is a good and honorable state, preferred by the Early Christians. Sorry, but that’s a pile of shit, plain and simple. So, I can understand the hurt people must feel when “good” well meaning “Christians” want to condemn them to a life of gender based lies or loneliness.
If you think that gays do not get lonely and do not mourn the loss of a spouse you’re as mean, pathetic, and spiteful as I thought you were. I know someone who lost his lover. The man has mourned for at least five years. It’s killing him.
Being alone does it – it kills a person little by little. I happen to be a person who believes that Christ is about love and kindness. I’ve been so alone, for so long, that I have a tremendous amount of sympathy for people good “Christians” want to condemn to a life like mine.
Recently, I had someone tell me it is better to live my life alone, and be prepared for the Coming of Christ, than to be stuck with a man. I was told loneliness is better than being with the wrong spouse. I will agree there, but I refuse to accept the fact that good “Christians” want to enforce a life-time of lonely heartbreak on people, just to make themselves feel better.
If you have never experienced hurt, then you’re not much of a person. If you deliberately hurt others, then you are even less of a person. To demand people live a life of pain, heart-break, and desperation just so you can feel good when you carry that Bible into church on Sunday…. well, it’s your future, not mine.
I don’t like immorality, no matter what the gender or proclivity. I don’t mind admitting that I rejected an amazing man because of his immorality, and the fact that it did not bother him. I can’t handle it. I have gay friends who are terribly moral – they’ve been together for nearly 35 years. I respect that. I have no respect for a woman who sleeps with a man, and she is still married to someone else.
Morality is in the eye of the beholder. Kindness and compassion is not.
