Mitt Romney’s GOP and the GOP of The Pink Flamingo are no longer the same.

At the Republican Convention in Tampa, Clint Eastwood betrayed the very spirit of the GOP by giving a nasty anti-war speech.  The libertarians who have taken over the GOP, have applauded it.  Mitt Romney is defensive, snippy, and refuses to acknowledge our military.  Today, on September 11, 2012, the United States has nearly 68,000 men and women who are bravely serving in Afghanistan. Over two thousand have given their lives to protect the likes of Clint Eastwood and the cowardly anti-war crowd who have taken over MY GOP.  Last week, Prince Harry was deployed to Afghanistan.  Mitt Romney cannot say anything honorable about them. Instead, he basically has said that Clint Eastwood speaks for him.

And what does Mr. Perfect do?  He thought it was wonderful.  He did not have the courage to even mention the service and the ultimate sacrifice our brave men and women have payed.  He did not have the grace or honor, or decency to thank them for serving while his sons did nothing, absolutely nothing in the service for our country. Neither has he.

I hear people saying we don’t need this war
But, I say there’s some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground
We didn’t get to keep ’em by backing down
They say we don’t realize the mess we’re getting in

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it’s too disturbing for you and me
It’ll just breed anger that’s what the experts say
If it was up to me I’d show it everyday
Some say this country’s just out looking for a fight
Well, after 9/11 man I’d have to say that’s right

The best hope for peace in our world is the expansion of freedom in all the world.

I can hear you, the rest of the world can hear you and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon.

Americans are a free people, who know that freedom is the right of every person and the future of every nation. The liberty we prize is not America’s gift to the world; it is God’s gift to humanity.

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail.

After the chaos and carnage of September 11th, it is not enough to serve our enemies with legal papers.

America is a Nation with a mission – and that mission comes from our most basic beliefs. We have no desire to dominate, no ambitions of empire. Our aim is a democratic peace – a peace founded upon the dignity and rights of every man and woman.

America must not ignore the threat gathering against us. Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof, the smoking gun that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud.

America will never seek a permission slip to defend the security of our people.

Every nation in every region now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists.


For diplomacy to be effective, words must be credible – and no one can now doubt the word of America.

Tonight we are a country awakened to danger and called to defend freedom. Our grief has turned to anger, and anger to resolution. Whether we bring our enemies to justice, or bring justice to our enemies, justice will be done.

Leadership to me means duty, honor, country. It means character, and it means listening from time to time.

The momentum of freedom in our world is unmistakable – and it is not carried forward by our power alone. We can trust in that greater power Who guides the unfolding of the years. And in all that is to come, we can know that His purposes are just and true.

You can’t put democracy and freedom back into a box.

There is only one force of history that can break the reign of hatred and resentment, and expose the pretensions of tyrants, and reward the hopes of the decent and tolerant, and that is the force of human freedom.

History has an ebb and flow of justice, but history also has a visible direction, set by liberty and the Author of Liberty.



We also have essential responsibilities here at home, the unfinished work of American freedom. In a world moving toward liberty, we are determined to show the meaning and the promise of liberty. The greatest strength of America is the heart and soul of the American people. Every time a volunteer reaches out to a neighbor in need, our nation grows stronger and more hopeful.

We will always remember. We will always be proud. We will always be prepared, so we may always be free.

It is important for the United States of America never to forget the transformative power of liberty. I believe there’s an Almighty, and I believe a gift of that Almighty to every man, woman, and child on the face of the Earth is freedom.

It’s also in our national interest to help others realize the blessings of a free society, so that when we look back at the initial chapters of the 21st century we will say we’ve done our duty; we defended the United States of America, and we laid the foundation for peace to come.

There is no finer honor than being the commander in chief of a fine group of men and women, and I’m proud to be in your midst.

There is not one single photo of Mitt Romney with a single wounded warrior.  There are very few photos of Romney with our military.  There are some with Vets, but that’s it.  If you check Google’s photo-stream, the shots of Obama with our troops put an end to the lie that he is not liked.

I described in my speech my commitment to a strong military, unlike the president’s decision to cut our military. I didn’t use the word ‘troops,’ I used the word ‘military.’ I think they refer to the same thing.”…”

It has been eleven years since the worst terror attack on American soil.  Since that time, George W. Bush proved to be a great leader.  Surprisingly, once The Pink Flamingo’s eyes were open and the scales from the lies removed, I realized that Barack Obama is following in his footsteps with our military and our troops. Mitt Romney is a disgrace and an insult to both men, not to mention the men and women who have given their all to protect this nation.

Several months ago, a Pink Flamingo reader emailed, asking how I could dare not vote for Mitt Romney – because not to vote for him was to disrespect George W. Bush.  I beg to differ.  Voting for Mitt Romney is a vote against our troops, Bush, Reagan, honor,Truth, Justice, and the American Way

  1. Very well said! Having met many veterans and active duty over the last year, I have come to realize how much they respect the Obama’s. Michelle Obama has done more for military families then any first lady in my lifetime. I have heard first hand accounts of how she arranged for military wives to testify to Congress having them flown in and hosting a reception for them. She visits military bases to meet with families with no press stories written. President Obama has followed in the footsteps of Pres Bush with the way he honors our military and the veterans. He makes trips to visit disabled vets going through rehab with no fanfare. Getting credit is not important to the Obamas but doing the right thing by our active duty and veterans is important.

    Shame that some Republicans are so blinded with hate fostered by conservative pundits, talk radio, RNC, and Republican members of Congress that they cannot see the forest for the trees or they would understand that Obama is nothing like that group of malcontents want people to believe and hate. They should be ashamed what they have done to the Commander in Chief of our military but to this group of Republicans it is win at any cost even when they have to lie, cheat, and steal. They have the integrity of a gnat which is probably giving them too much credit.
