Todd Akin says that one reason abortion needs to be completely outlawed is because, according to a 1976 article he read, there are some doctors forcing abortions on women who aren’t even pregnant.
There are times when you wonder if the far right can become any more abjectly stupid. Case in point, want to cut down on the number of abortions, then provide access, and free contraceptive to lower incomes. IT WORKS. Birth control prevents abortions because it prevents unwanted pregnancies. What’s wrong with that, pray tell?
Then there is Big Bird. Killing Seseme Street will kill thousands of American jobs. Let’s be honest here. If PBS were not considered “liberal” (which is weird) the far right would not want to kill it.
How dumb are they? House Republicans are now so STUPID, they have been caught on video saying they are trying to tank jobs to keep Obama from being re-elected. If you’re going to be a bunch of jerks, and put the good of the American people behind your hatred of a Black POTUS, don’t get caught. That’s where the Democrats have excelled. They don’t get caught doing this sort of stuff. Republicans do.
Then there is this…
“…”The institution of slavery that the black race has long believed to be an abomination upon its people may actually have been a blessing in disguise. The blacks who could endure those conditions and circumstances would someday be rewarded with citizenship in the greatest nation ever established upon the face of the Earth.” John Hubbard, (R – Arkansas)
“…”I’ve voted to kill Big Bird in the past. I have a record there that I have to disclose. That doesn’t mean I don’t like Big Bird. You can kill things and still like them, maybe to eat them, I don’t know. That’s probably that. Can we — can we go back on that one?“…” Rick Santorum
“…Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) tore into scientists as tools of the devil in a speech at the Liberty Baptist Church Sportsman’s Banquet last month.
“All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the Big Bang Theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of Hell,” Broun said. “And it’s lies to try to keep me and all the folks who were taught that from understanding that they need a savior.”
According to Broun, the scientific plot was primarily concerned with hiding the true age of the Earth. Broun serves on the House Science Committee, which came under scrutiny recently after another one of its Republican members, Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO), suggested that victims of “legitimate rape” have unnamed biological defenses against pregnancy.
“You see, there are a lot of scientific data that I’ve found out as a scientist that actually show that this is really a young Earth,” he said. “I don’t believe that the Earth’s but about 9,000 years old. I believe it was created in six days as we know them. That’s what the Bible says.”
Broun — a physician, with an M.D. and a B.S. in chemistry — is generally considered to be among the most conservative members of Congress, if not the most. He drew national attention in 2010 for saying he did not know if President Obama was an American citizen….”
Unfortunately, it only gets worse. According to Charles Johnson….
Then there is Murray Energy, where workers were forced to donate to Mitt Romney’s campaign to make it look like coal miners were supporting him. This is the same company that required them to stand front and center with him, be filmed for a commercial, and LOSE a day’s pay. And you wonder why people need unions – for just this very thing.
“...And in a 2011 letter to company managers, Murray alluded to potential consequences if employees did not donate: “Please see that our salaried employees ‘step up,’ for their own sakes and those of their employees.”
Other national candidates supported by the “coerced” donations of coal workers include House Speaker John Boehner, Scott Brown, Rand Paul, David Vitter, and Congress’ most aggressive climate denier, Jim Inhofe. “Hopefully you will support every one of these friends of coal,” wrote Murray to his employees.
Murray, who is a fierce defender of the coal industry, is also a fierce climate denier. He has called climate change a “theory” and has blamed climate scientists for supposedly “perpetuating fraud.”
As governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney once proclaimed that coal plants “kill people” and established a “no regrets” plan to combat global warming. Today, with massive financial backing from the fossil fuel industry, Romney says that “we don’t know” what’s causing global warming. And in the presidential debate this week, he proclaimed “I like coal.”…”
Charles Fuqua is a hand-picked Koch backed candidate in Arkansas. And, you wonder who backs these deplorable idiots. If it weren’t for the Koch money and the tea party idiots, we might have NORMAL Republican candidates. But…. nooo…. we must have idiots like this…. and yes, The Pink Flamingo has used the word “idiot” to many times in this paragraph. Perhaps I should use the word “stupid”. After all, stupid is as stupid does and these people are STUPID!
Would you please explain why this is any different from Islamic extremism?
“...Everything that is wrong with the United States will be corrected only when we turn back to the Biblical principles followed by our founding fathers. The prophets of the Bible told Israel that the nation would suffer as a result of disobedience to God’s law. It is no different today. God made the universe and the laws that govern it. Disobedience of those laws always produces bad consequences. Examining how we fall short of God’s standards will bring understanding of our nation’s problems, and bring a nationwide awakening and return to the laws that made our nation great. The fatal flaw in our economic system is that all money created is loaned into existence at interest and must be paid back to the money creator with interest, requiring continual expansion of the money supply and perpetual price inflation as the value of the money constantly declines….”
Let’s be honest here, these freaks are making the GOP look bad!
When one considers that Todd Akin and Paul Broun are both on the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, well… Houston we are screwed! Far right stupid idiots like this are one of the problems with the GOP.
I read somewhere that Creationists think the last dinosaurs died off about 4000 years or so. I know, they mean well, right? Somehow I just don’t think so. Let’s face it, we’re talking both Biblical and scientific delusion here.
No one would love to prove that dinosaurs were around even 4000 years ago than The Pink Flamingo. Trust me, I’m not even a closeted cryptozoological buff. I’m totally out there, on the fringe, taking in anything that might be of interest. Okay, I’ve been trying, since I was 10 years old, to find out what was flying over my grandfather Froehlich’s orange grove there in West Palm Beach, Florida. Fortunately, for me, my mother saw what I saw, as did my grandfather, who stood on the steps with a loaded rifle. He said he never saw anything like it. Every possible bird was eliminated.
This said, I am greatly afraid that the kind of dinosaurs who grace Jurassic Park no longer exist. Sure, they evolved into birds. Chickens and T-Rex have the same DNA, which does answer the eternal burning question, what does a T-Rex taste like – just like chicken. But, wait, we can’t discuss evolution. It might offend delusional creationists. I’m not against Creationism. I am a firm believer in Genesis, but I am also well versed in science. Like one of the astronauts once told me, anyone who has a problem with evolution and Christian faith doesn’t have much Christian faith.
Going full circle, I think the reason some of the above individuals just don’t want to discuss evolution is the fact that they might be used as case in point that yes, Homo sapiens have evolved from apes. There is no other logical explanation for their lack of logic, reason, and just a little bit of faith. Their brains still have the thinking capacity of some little lemur hanging by its tail, from the tree of life.
Oh, wait, The Pink Flamingo now understands the entire problem. It’s the term Homo sapiens that is the real problem. Think about it. HOMO SAPIENS. I guess they think it’s about something gay. It makes about as much sense as performing an abortion on a woman who isn’t pregnant.
