Why Does the GOP Hate We the Little People of the United States of America?

imagesYes, it is a silly headline.  The Pink Flamingo is using that headline on purpose. I am convinced the GOP, the rank and file members of the House and Senate don’t really hate We the Little People of the United States of America.  Oh, some of them do, never doubt that they don’t, but not all of them do, not at all.

One of the major problems we have is the fact that the extreme tea party loons of the extreme John Birch and Randian far right have done an excellent job of separating the GOP from both reality and the real world. Some of the problem is due to ideology and the fact that, thanks to the manipulations of the likes of Karl Rove, Freedom Works, and FOX Tabloid News.  They are isolated, a very big deal.

If we were dealing with a relationship between two people, this sort of isolation, and redirected towards certain points of view, it would be considered brainwashing, or even abuse.  This is the way cults behave.  They gradually isolate their victims from reality, and create an alternative reality.

“...Republicans claim their adherence to cutting programs affecting 98% of the population is due to out-of-control spending, but spending is already at historically low levels, and if the sequester goes into effect, food safety, education, law enforcement, safety net programs, and economic growth will be, and already has been, dramatically impacted which is the GOP’s intent. They have also laid the groundwork to blame their economic malfeasance on the President, and not their wont to create hardship on the population. In fact, Republicans’ only plan to avoid the sequester cuts is voiding the defense cuts and replacing them with more domestic cuts including those already in the sequester….”

An alternative reality has been created for the far right, for the GOP by those who want to manipulate the message.  Oh, don’t even bother thinking they are doing this because of ideology.  No one could be so stupid.  Case in point:  Laura Ingraham.

Crooks & Liars
Crooks & Liars

Ingraham’s idiotic tweet proves just how far from reality the far right has strayed.  Barack Obama had every right to appear with first responders.  He’s the POTUS.  He won, Ingraham lost (thank heavens).  The minions of the right like to say that elections have consequences.  This is one of them.  Barack Obama, as POTUS, owns the bully pulpit.  It’s that simple. Shut up about it already yet and face reality.

Right now, Congress has something like a 14% approval rating.  Obama is pushing the low 50% range.  I guess the likes of Ingraham, Hannity, Medved, Beck, Limbaugh – Koch Whores all, don’t quite understand that Obama won.  He’s well liked.  Right now Congress is about as popular as bed bugs, maybe less so.  That makes a difference.

“…“It’s a losing argument for Republicans … when you’ve seen clearly that the American people believe in having the wealthy pay their fair share in order to fund the things that are important to all of us — FBI, Border Patrol — all sorts of things that matter on a daily basis,” said Andy Stone, spokesman for the Democratic-affiliated House Majority PAC. “That’s why this is a losing prospect for them.”…”

Someone the brainwashed Republicans of the House and Senate are going to either be forced to listen to reason now, or in November of 2014.  Right now, if you are looking at polling, generic Dems have about a 5 point lead.  They need a 7 point lead to over-come GOP vote fraud and gerrymandering.  The Pink Flamingo does not like admitting that the GOP resorted to vote fraud.  It makes me sick, breaks my heart, but that’s what’s going on.  Like the proverbial frog in tepid water, they don’t even feel it when it comes to a boil.  They are ruining themselves.

Unfortunately, there are times when the brainwashed need to be de-programmed.  The only way this is going to happen is if they either lose their elections or are burned to be unzombied the way Indiana Jones was in the Temple of Doom.

It is sad to watch decent men and women turn into something you don’t recognize, falling for propaganda that is being spoon fed to them by special interest groups who are only interested in their agenda.  It doesn’t just happen to Republicans.  A few years ago, when the Dems were acting so outrageous, the GOP made fun of them.  The real problem, though, was the fact that the far right is behaving far worse than the left ever did.

There is an agenda at work here.  We have very real problems when good men and women are either no longer able to stand up for what is best for the country, or no longer even know what is best for the country.  Voting one’s conscience, no matter what someone believes is acceptable. Voting to reflect a person’s constituency is another.  But, when Republicans in the Senate start using World Net Daily as a credible source, we have a very serious problem.

We also have a problem with individuals like Paul Ryan, who don’t give a damn about anything but doing what they are told. People like Ryan, Michele Bachmann, other far right loons give lip service to things like right to life, but only for the “pre-born”.  Once the baby is born, they don’t give a damn about it.

“…Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) noted during the Plan B debate on the House floor that the Ryan/GOP cuts would throw a combined 600,000 poor children off of food stamps and Medicaid. Literally, Paul Ryan is trying to protect the defense industry by starving hundreds of thousands of economically disadvantaged children.

The “smarter cuts” that Rep. Ryan is touting would slash food stamps, and throw 300,000 children off the program. The cuts are so extensive that they would eliminate food assistance for 1.8 million adults and children. Ryan’s cuts would also eliminate Meals on Wheels, federal funding for child protective services, and healthcare for disabled adults and children.

Children may have a “right to life” in the Republican Party, but the conservative culture of life doesn’t include food. If kids want to eat, they’re on their own….”

There is nothing wrong with wanting to cut taxes and government spending and waste.  The problem is you don’t use an ax to cut what needs to be cut with a precision exacto knife.  The problem is when the far right no longer, because of one reason or another, only cares about the ultra wealthy.

“…Republicans “ask nothing of the wealthiest Americans or biggest corporations, so the burden is all on first responders or seniors or middle-class families,” Obama said. “They double down, in fact, on the harsh, harmful cuts that I’ve outlined.”

“Republicans in Congress face a simple choice,” the president added. “Are they willing to compromise to protect vital investments in education and health care and national security and all the jobs that depend on them? Or would they rather put hundreds of thousands of jobs and our entire economy at risk just to protect a few special interest tax loopholes that benefit only the wealthiest Americans and biggest corporations?”

But House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) pushed back on Obama’s speech almost immediately, saying the president is putting forth a proposal that simply echoes old calls for higher taxes.

“Just last month, the president got his higher taxes on the wealthy, and he’s already back for more,” Boehner said in a statement, referring to the fiscal cliff deal that let the Bush-era tax cuts expire on income about $400,000.

“The American people understand that the revenue debate is now closed,” he said. “We should close loopholes and carve-outs in the tax code, but that revenue should be used to lower rates across the board. Tax reform is a once-in-a generation opportunity to boost job creation in America. It should not be squandered to enable more Washington spending. Spending is the problem, spending must be the focus.”…”

John Boehner demonstrates exactly what is wrong with the GOP.  Either he is incapable of seeing what needs to be done, or incapable of doing it.  Or, he is incapable of comprehending that he is residing in an alternative reality.

The GOP, thanks to the donations of the Koch Brothers, think that the only way to solve our problems is by austerity.  No matter that it is destroying Europe.  All that matters is that the Koch Brothers and their billionaire friends want it that way.  They pay the big bucks, so they get a big bang for their bucks.

That’s the real problem here.  Republicans don’t hate We the Little People of the United States of America.  They just love the money that comes from their billionaire donors more than they love the 99%.  You know what they say, money talks.  We don’t have the money to buy their attention, loyalty, or their votes. So, we lose.

I guess they love money more than the country.  Doesn’t that make them the worst Takers of them all?

  1. Uh… we’re running deficits of over a trillion dollars a year. And of course, when you listen to the same media that allowed Obama to cover up Benghazi and Fast & Furious, you believe their lies about other stuff as well.

So of course, good people like Paul Ryan, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz are just this side of racist/sexist, while the bad people like Obama and Schumer are painted as heroic crusaders for all that is right and good. Well, I call BS on that. It is not right to drown America’s future in red ink, it’s not right to gut our military, and it’s not right to ban AR-15s when the real problem is paroling killers and not dealing with mental illness.

As for vote fraud, we have at least one poll worker who voted for Obama SIX times in Ohio. There’s probably more that have evaded detection, precisely because we don’t require people to show photo ID when they vote. What the GOP did with redistricting is within the rules. As you like to say…elections have consequences.

As for being a Republican – I don’t think you are. You sound more and more like someone who has either sides with the progressives, who have never loved America, or you’ve bought into a load of BS, and can no longer see the facts.

  2. I refuse to support anyone who is libertarian, associated with the Kochs, or who supported Mitt Romney. Sorry, but there are millions of Republicans out there, just like me, who refuse to be a part of the tea party, idiocy. I don’t care what you call me. Doesn’t matter a bit. I just find it rather laughable that anyone who disagrees with the Koch Heads never loved America. Keep believing that sh*t. It helps dehumanize anyone who might have an opinion that isn’t what the far right loons are told to have. It’s really pathetic. Sad.

Do you know how absolutely stupid it sounds to accuse someone who disagrees with your point of view of not loving this country. That is just childish and pathetic. I would never say you don’t love this country. I know you do. To accuse me of not loving it because I refuse to support the libertarian point of view, or worship at at the feet of Rand Paul, who is utterly without a brain in his head, or even thinking that Ted Cruz is doing more than embarrassing the country, then that’s your problem. They are the reason the GOP is in such bad shape, and is dying as a national party.

    P. S. Paul Krugman is right.

  3. I’m sorry, but that is how I see it. You’re either with the Constitution, or you’re with the progressives. And quite frankly, as someone who the progressives have already dehumanized as just this side of a racist because I have the temerity to think that Obama happens to be VERY wrong on the issues, I figure two can play.

My best friend’s wife got death threats for supporting Prop 8. As a Mormon, I saw temples of my faith become targeted with anthrax hoaxes, because we dared disagree with those who would redefine marriage by judicial fiat. They’re already acting like thugs now – and they do so precisely because they see me as “not quite human” in their eyes.

Middle ground is running out. I wish it weren’t the case, but it is – and it is time to pick a side for what IS coming. If we are LUCKY, it stays at the level of Greece-style riots. But I think it will get worse – much worse.

  4. I have had at least two death threats since November from misc. Romney supporters. I have been threatened, harassed, and have had idiots who said they were friends dump me because I no longer believed in the Constitution. I gather only people with YOUR opinions are real Americans. Once upon a time, this was the case in the South. They were called KKK. And, yes, there are white supremacists in the GOP. Once upon a time, they were not allowed in the party. They are aligned with the John Birch Society, KKK, Stormfront, anti-immigration activists, and people who were once banned from the party. If that makes me someone who no longer believes in YOUR version of the Constitution. Fine. Mine has a 1st Amendment where EVERYONE has a right to believe what they want to believe, without being harassed. Opinions were once cherished in the GOP. If you still speak out against Mitt Romney, you are evil. I guess I am evil. He and his supporters, the Kochs, and the John Birchers are the WORST thing that ever happened to the GOP. If that makes me no longer believing in the Constitution as YOU see it, fine. I stand right up there with William F. Buckley who detested these people.

P.S. The riots in Greece were caused BY austerity forced upon them by Greenspan’s economic theories that come from Ayn Rand.

  5. So you are saying that we can’t cut welfare because then there would be riots.

Sounds like we’re giving in to extortion, then. How is that different than some mobster saying, “Nice business you got there – it would be a shame if something happened to it. Of course, if you donate to us, we can insure that nothing happens.”

The fact that we, as a society are giving in to this extortion is not good. Because the demands will only go up from the present point. Sooner or later, they will run out of other people’s money. When that happens… the fur’s gonna fly.
