Tea Party Realities

2990788337_98dc95dafbWe have a serious problem in this country.  No, it is not the deficit, military spending, NRA, guns, lack of guns, or anything of that ilk.  The problem is the growing intolerance for anyone who is of one’s political persuasion.  We’ve become a nation of political bigots, and it is only getting worse.   And, yes, The Pink Flamingo is concentrating on the far right and the tea parties.  There is a very good reason for that.  I am well aware that there are numerous loons on the left.  Many, just as many loons on the left, as on the right.  Thing is, I don’t care about the loons on the left.  They are the problem of liberals.  What concerns me are the problems the loons of the far right have caused for the GOP.

They think that only they know what is right for this nation.  Case in point is a column Susan Brown wrote.  She is an admirer of Cleon Skousen, who is, in many ways, responsible for the mess the GOP finds itself in.  He was a leading John Bircher.  Glenn Beck bases his idiocy on his work.  And, he was greatly admired by and was a mentor for Mitt Romney. He is worshiped by the tea parties, almost as much as they worship Ayn Rand.

This is an example of what Skousen admirers think.  It’s why the GOP is totally and completely screwed.

“…There once was a place called America,” our children’s children will one day write, “a bright and shining city on a hill, divinely placed by God to serve as a beacon of hope to the entire world. A land filled with generous-hearted souls who showered the needy the world over with their abundant blessings.”

You see, America was founded by a handful of God-fearing patriots who didn’t always agree but believed certain things like life, liberty and the personal pursuit of happiness were worth dying for. And to ensure their ideas would survive the ages, they crafted one of the most revered documents ever put to paper, the United States Constitution.

It wasn’t long before this exceptional nation became the envy of those who thirsted for freedom and the enemy of those who despised it. Some loathed America to the point of making threats while others declared war. But a certain few understood defeat was increasingly less likely and instead devised a plan to take down America from within, one small step at a time….”

At first the Tea Parties were a petty annoyance that normal Republicans such as The Pink Flamingo simply ignored.  They were a bunch of complaining little snits who had no comprehension of how this country works.  For the most part, they appeared, then, as now, to be ill educated, disenfranchised individuals who are basically the political trekkies of society, living in a galaxy far far away.  Those of us who saw through the hype realized that the people who were involved in the movement did not have the funding, gumption, or background to put such a movement together.

We were right.  There are very few people who are truly tea parties.  Those who are, have been used and manipulated by the big business billionaires of the libertarian and Randian hard right, John Birchers, who have no real comprehension of what this country is, or what the Constitution is.  This abject ignorance is reflected in the rank and file membership of the tea parties, who are little more than brainwashed, pathetic, small minded individuals who are followers.

The GOP, at one time (up until 2006) was considered a political party of leaders, small business owners, men and women who were fairly well dressed, had table manners, and considered themselves leaders in their community.  They had a track history of being accomplishments.  It wasn’t about money, education, or social status but one’s ability to deliver and to succeed.

Unfortunately, the GOP has been hijacked by the libertarian, Randian, and John Birch right.  They are men and women who are increasingly out of touch with the realities of this world.  If they were in touch with the world, they would not behave the way they do.

They are simple minded.

The Pink Flamingo is not using the term as an insult, but to describe the mindset of the average tea partier and those who continue to inhabit the far right.  They are either elderly and lacking in new technology to go beyond the headlines on FOX News.  Their parents were the ones who were manipulated and bled dry by TV preachers.  They are being bled dry by the same type of grifter, only their agenda is different.  What they are doing to honest, formerly hard-working, honorable senior citizens is basically elder abuse.   If my parents were being manipulated this way, I would pull the plug, and make sure no additional money went their way.

It is all about money, big big big money – huge money.  It is about a handful of extremely rich, richer than anyone should be rich, men who are determined to reshape the country in their own image.  If they were not so wealthy, their ambitions would be laughable.  Unfortunately, they have become something out of a really bad James Bond movie (not that there are any bad James Bond movies).  They are ludicrous, bent on nothing less than world domination.  They need to be stopped.

Even worse is the fact that there is a certain group of paranoid conspiracy mania individuals, societal misfits, who don’t fit anywhere in the world.  They are incapable of conforming to the basics of society, living within a paranoia that brings them to the end of the world.  They are scary, far to well armed, think they know everything, but are really bust-heads, and well too well armed.  Most think they are well educated, but only within a certain range, and only in the ways that they want to be educated.  They are insular, almost brainwashed.  Everyone is their enemy.

The late William F. Buckley once said that what he feared the most for this country was for a merger of the followers of Ayn Rand and the John Birch Society.  He felt it this were to happen, our way of life, our very freedom could be in danger.

They are.

This is a group of men and women who thrive by intimidation.  They are rude, vicious, crude, ill-informed, bigoted, self-righteous, and terrified of everything.  Koch money has empowered them.  They are being used and manipulated in order to basically harass and intimidate those of us who refuse to be a part of their movement.  The Pink Flamingo has been subjected to death threats, crude brutal harassment, and comments made that I refuse to repeat in mixed company.

I have kept copies of everything they have done.

To their limited mentalities, there is no insult worse than ‘Commie’, socialist, or Marxist.  They are so poorly informed of what it actually going on in the world, they still think that there are such ideologies trying to destroy their pathetic way of life.  They cannot even comprehend that even Communist China is no longer Communist but capitalism at its most raw and cruel.

They have destroyed the GOP.  If they are not stopped, they will destroy the country as we know it.  We will never be the same.  They cannot comprehend that unbridled capitalism is not necessarily democracy.  The Rand version is not.
