Is it true that there are some sources in the great state of North Carolina who are pushing the far right loons, who now control the state, to force the state to leave the union if gay marriage is either upheld or passed? Gary Freeze, a professor of history at Catawaba says that what some of the Republicans in the state house are doing is basically neo-secessionist.
In 2010, Rep. Henry Warren told NC Tea Party TV that the feds have too much power.
“...“I wholeheartedly believe that we have to do what we need to do to protect our sovereignty,” he explained. “And I would fight very hard to make sure we maintain our sovereignty and our state’s rights.”…”
One thing The Pink Flamingo so adores about the far right is their devout love of country, their patriotism, and their abject worship of the Constitution. The Pink Flamingo is also quite adapt in the use of sarcasm as an editorial tool. What the GOP is doing in North Carolina is, well, just plain old Unconstitutional. But, they are good, tea party patriots, all.
In other words, in North Carolina, if they get their way, the US Constitution doesn’t actually apply to them, according to Joint House Resolution 494.
“…”The Constitution of the United States does not grant the federal government and does not grant the federal courts the power to determine what is or is not constitutional; therefore, by virtue of the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, the power to determine constitutionality and the proper interpretation and proper application of the Constitution is reserved to the states and to the people,” the resolution states.
“Each state in the union is sovereign and may independently determine how that state may make laws respecting an establishment of religion,” it states. …”
Do far right loons in North Carolina simply go around, now nullifying any part of the Constitution they don’t like? Isn’t that Unconstitutional or do patriots who claim to love freedom get more kudos for trying to destroy our country than liberals who are interested in justice and equality?
Where does it stop?
With the exception of Wizbang, do you see one conservative, far right, libertarian (Outside the Beltway leans libertarian), or tea party blog or writer castigating the John Birch inspired assault on religious freedom in this nation?
I guess this answers the question about what tea party loons and John Birchers think of this country. They obviously think enough of it to risk a form of anti-American, anti-Constitution, shall we say – treason? They are willing to step on the Constitution and everything this nation stands for, in order to protect their version of what religion should be.
Major tea party loon, Allahpundit at Hot Air is even defending those idiots in NC.
“…Question: Has anyone seen numbers from major nonpartisan pollsters like Gallup on the separation of church and state? Polls have been conducted by advocacy groups but I’d prefer a less partial source. And I’d also prefer a narrower question. “Separation of church and state” is a gassy concept compared to asking specifically whether a state should be permitted to establish an official religion. This YouGov poll is interesting in showing a partisan split on whether separation should be “absolute,” but that’s not the precise issue here. The reason I ask is because when I saw the North Carolina story, I thought it looked like the sort of thing that Democrats would eagerly use as a wedge issue against the GOP (if, that is, the bill went anywhere). But a wedge only works if the majority’s on their side and I don’t know for a fact that it is because I can’t find a poll on point. Anyone seen one? If not, I assume we’ll get one next week thanks to Carolina….”
Poll numbers, criticizing the Democrats? I gather even Allahpundit, who has waxed poetic about the Constitution only cares about it when the far left does something looney. Don’t these people, these tea party loons even comprehend what freedom is? Or, is it only for them and for their little friends?
And now, boys and girls, you know why The Pink Flamingo has come to truly detest the far right. What I can’t get over are the truly anti-American far right loons who are defending this. Don’t they give a rip about this country?
The Far Right likes to do the old, love it or leave it slogan for our country. Maybe it’s time that some of the more extreme, fascist, tea party, John Birch, fake ‘christian’ loons might want to consider relocating to a more country, but I don’t think there are all that many fascist ‘christian’ dictatorships out there, these days. And, no, they can’t try secession. It’s been tried already. I guess, with their recent celebration of the Confederacy, North Carolina white supremacist pretending to be Republicans haven’t received the memo, yet.
Let’s see how they defend this one on FOX Tabloid News. I wonder what Rush is going to have to say, and will Mark Levin, who ‘treasures’ the Constitution defend their actions? My money is on the confederacy of dunces.
Once upon a time, it was a Grand Old Party. Now, though, it is an embarrassment.
