UPDATED: How’s That White Supremacist Thing Workin’ Out for You?

UPDATE:  Rand Paul’s white supremacist leaning aid, Jack Hunter, has basically been thrown under the bus, resigning to become a pundit, again.  In other words, Rand and big daddy Ron are quite serious about Rand running for POTUS.  Evidently, Jack Hunter’s influence in South Carolina is not what it once was.  This helps Lindsey, tremendously.  In fact, the way I see it, the score is:

Lindsey Graham – 2
Jack Hunter – zilch!

ORIGINAL POST:  One of the most interesting developments in ages has recently occurred on the white supremacist front.  Derek Black, son of Stormfront founder Don Black (friend and supporter of Ron Paul), racist, former KKK grand pubah, and sor forth and so on has completely denounced his father’s little racist world of Stormfront, the Council of Conservative Citizens, and all that it entails.

He wrote:

“...Black also directly confronted some of the main arguments of white nationalism, such as the idea that whites are being victimized by non-white immigration, mixed-race marriages and affirmative action — what amounts, in the arguments of white nationalists, to “genocide” aimed at destroying the white race. He also ridiculed many white nationalists’ “particularly bizarre” hatred of Jews.

“I now consider this belief system principally flawed,” he said. “Most arguments that racial equity programs disadvantage whites who would otherwise be hired or accepted to academic programs mask underlying anxieties about the growth of non-white social status. It is impossible to argue rationally that in our society, with its overwhelming disparity between white power and that of everyone else, racial equity programs intended to affect the deep-rooted situation represent oppression of whites.” Indeed, Black added, “The advancement of minorities in the US is not insignificant, but has not ended (let alone reversed) their circumstances.”

Black was explicitly apologetic. “I acknowledge that things I have said as well as my actions have been harmful to people of color, people of Jewish descent, activists striving for opportunity and fairness for all, and others affected.”

“I can’t support a movement that tells me I can’t be a friend to whomever I wish or that other people’s races requires me to think about them in a certain way or be suspicious of their advancements,” Black wrote toward the end of his four-page statement. “Minorities must have the ability to rise to positions of power, and many supposed ‘race’ issues are in fact issues of structural oppression, poor educational prospects, and limited opportunity. The differences I thought I observed didn’t go nearly as deeply as I imagined. I believe we can move beyond the sort of mind-boggling emphasis white nationalism puts on maintaining an oppressive, exclusive sense of identity — oppressive for others and stifling for our society.”…”

Ron Paul is going to have his own television channel, to spread his version of what “liberty” should be.  Considering that Jack Hunter was his official blogger for his failed POTUS campaign, one must seriously wonder what form of liberty he is embracing.  When one realizes who his associates have been, his version of “liberty” is not quite what my version of liberty is.

Evidently Jack Hunter, AKA the Southern Avenger, AKA Rand Paul’s adored staffer has tried to mass delete his own columns from the web.  Cool.  The SPLC has a bit of an expose on the League of the South, and Hunter, who is now a FOX News Regular.  FYI, there is an interesting discussion of about the Pauls and racism at the Atlantic.

“...Jack Hunter, a top aide to Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), allegedly tried to have dozens of his own columns removed from the Internet. According to an editor at the Charleston City Paper, Hunter asked for his own columns to be deleted because they “no longer reflected his current worldview.” Editor Chris Haire said he would have considered removing a few questionable columns, but Hunter was seeking to have a “cowardly” amount of his writing removed. “It was solely for appearances only,” Haire said. “It was not heartfelt. It was not true. It was simply to protect his boss, Rand Paul, as he plots a path to the White House in 2016.”…”

Chris Haire went on to say that he felt Hunter was the most common kind of racist around – the kind who doesn’t think he is one.

“...While a member of the City Paper’s stable of freelancers, Jack wrote in support of racially profiling Hispanics, praised white supremacist Sam Francis, blasted the House of Representative’s apology for slavery, claimed that black people should apologize to white people for high crime rates, defended former Atlanta Braves pitcher and racist John Rocker and Charleston County School District board member Nancy Cook after she said some mothers should be sterilized, argued that Islam was an innately dangerous threat to the U.S, professed that he would have voted for a member a British neo-Nazi political party if he could have, considered endorsing former Council of Conservative Citizens member Buddy Witherspoon in his bid to unseat Sen. Lindsey Graham, compared Abraham Lincoln to Adolf Hitler and Ike Turner, and continued to profess the erroneous claim that the primary cause of the Civil War was not the fight over slavery, ignoring the decades of American history leading up to war and South Carolina’s very own Declaration of the Immediate Causes for Secession, which clearly note that protecting slavery was the preeminent motivation of state leaders.

Over the course of editing Jack for years, it was clear to me that when he spoke of Southerners, Southern values, and the Southern way of life, it was as if the South to him was solely populated by white people, and everyone else was an intruder or at best a historical inconvenience. Jack Hunter may have never railed against miscegenation, championed segregation, uttered a racial slur, or participated in a lynching, but it was my opinion then and it is my opinion now that Jack is the most common kind of racist, the one that doesn’t realize that he is one. In fact, like many on the right — from Pat Buchanan to Newt Gingrich to Rick Perry to Rush Limbaugh — Jack traffics in race-baiting rhetoric and repeatedly aligns himself with racists but then refuses to own up to the meaning and purpose of his actions. And just so long as he doesn’t call somebody a “nigger” or pistol whip a black man for looking at his lily white wife, he can keep on believing that, because to admit the truth would be to admit that he was in fact a villain.

And the same applies to Rand Paul. Like his father before him, Paul has courted the racist wing of the GOP, the faction that wants to vote for a states’ rights champion, a man with the courage to say we should have separate lunch counters as a matter of principle, a politician with the chutzpah to proclaim that he would have voted against the Civil Rights Act. Of course, when the day arrives that this relationship is brought to light once again, Rand Paul will again deny that he consciously sought out racists and anti-Semites and secessionists, the media and the masses will largely accept his flaccid defense, and the racists and anti-Semites and secessionists will have a good laugh knowing that one of their own had to lie to protect himself but underneath that protective cloak of political convenience he’s still one of them….”

Then there is this little delightful moment at a rally attended by Steve King, Jeff Sessions, and Ted Cruz.

There are some absolutely fascinating things going on here, the past week, almost to the point where you need a scorecard.  It is rather obvious that Jack Hunter did not help Rand Paul, nor did Paul help himself by not immediately denouncing Hunter.

League of the South
League of the South

The reason all of this is so fascinating is because of the latest development in the incestuous white supremacist world of the wild and wacky far right.  The Pink Flamingo is not all that interested in providing a score card, but I will provide a little list of incestuous residents of their little world.

That’s where it gets interesting.  The John Birch Society works hand in glove with the Koch Machine.  Oh, yes there are more of these individuals, but the most important part of this is that the linkage between all of this from Citizen’s United, to the Tea Parties is stunning, and terrifying.

There are some in the white nationalist movement who think Derek Black is pulling a fast one, to have an easier life.  Seems the world out side of certain far right circles doesn’t really like people like his dear old dad.

The Pink Flamingo hasn’t even begun to list the fringe groups, the so called ‘religious’ leaders and the main stream politicians who are part of this mess.  They are all there, determined to enforce their version of Freedom on the vast majority of Americans who happen to think their version of freedom is little more than a plutocracy.
