Those of you following the Kaitlyn Smith tale, are familiar with the attacks the Hunt family has made on ‘Free Kate’ victim, her family, and those attempting to put an end to the truly disgusting antics of Steven Hunt and his darling ex-wife Kelley Hunt Smith. Taking a page from the Hunt Mafia, Shirley Barnett, mother of once accused rapist Matthew Barnett, is going public with her tragic tale. Her son, Matthew, who raped a 14 year old girl, and later saw the charges dropped, primarily because there was ‘no evidence’ thanks to his grandfather’s prominent political position in the state of Missouri.
Of course, because Matthew’s grandfather is a big time Republican in the state of Missouri, FOX News is defending the rapist. The 14-year-old girl was asking for it because she decided sneak out that fateful night.
“...Following the news that a Missouri county prosecutor had asked for a special prosecutor to review the charge that a 14-year-old girl was raped by an older high school student in 2012, Fox News host Shepard Smith turned to DiBenedetto for a counterpoint.
“There’s no denying that from the surface it appears to be some sort of cover-up,” the defense attorney said. “But when you look at the finer details, there are telltale signs of this girl actually lying. She is leaving her home at 1 a.m. in the morning and nobody forced her to drink. And what happens? She gets caught by her mom, she’s embarrassed and the easy way out here is, ‘Mom, someone took advantage of me.’”
“But what did she expect to happen at 1 a.m. in the morning after sneaking out?” he asked. “I’m not saying — assuming that these facts are accurate and this did happen — I’m not saying she deserved to be raped, but knowing the facts as we do here including what the prosecutor has set forth, this case is going nowhere and it’s going nowhere quick.”…”
According to Shirley Barnett, who is a teacher for gosh sakes, Matthew is having a hard time, now that his atrocities, raping a 14-year-old girl, have been exposes. He’s not happy. Anonymous is bothering him, and making him uncomfortable. How the heck does she think the 14-year-old girl who saw her home burned the ground, and attempted suicide three times felt?
“...“He’s having some major issues,” said Shirley Barnett, a teacher. “Is Matthew OK? How can you go through this and be OK? You can’t go through this experience and be OK. You can’t have your picture plastered all over the world news and be portrayed as something when you know in your heart what happened and be OK. How can anybody in our family be OK over this?”…”
Would you want one of your daughters, nieces, granddaughters, sisters, cousins, etc. etc. etc. being taught by a woman who doesn’t know the difference between right and wrong?
“...Shirley Barnett claimed there was information that would prove her son’s version of events, but she declined to be specific. “The more you dig, you will get closer to the truth,” she said. “It is not on the surface, you’re going to have to dig for it, unfortunately, we can’t help with that because that is not our personality.” Shirley Barnett said her son and others from Maryville had been threatened online and required protection.
“I am here to talk about the people of this town that have been threatened, that do not feel safe to come to their jobs, they don’t feel safe to go to school, there’s campuses across the state where students are having to be walked to class and having to be escorted because of their safety,” Shirley Barnett said. “That needs to stop. It’s not fair to those people. They have no relationship whatsoever to this case; they have no knowledge of the case, but because they’re from a small town, they’re being threatened, and that needs to stop.”
Coleman also claimed she was threatened after the boys were charged, and the harassment continued even after the felony charges were dropped….”
Her son raped a 14-year-old girl. She’s upset? The home, where the Coleman girl once lived, was burned to the ground. The cops wouldn’t investigate it. The Coleman girl and her siblings were harassed so badly at school, where poor widdle Matthew was BMOC to the point where the family had to leave the town.
“…“I am here to talk about the people of this town that have been threatened, that do not feel safe to come to their jobs, they don’t feel safe to go to school,” she told startled reporters milling around outside the Maryville courthouse. “There are campuses across the state where students are having to be walked to class and having to be escorted because of their safety. That needs to stop. Its not fair to those people, they have no relationship whatsoever to the case and have no knowledge of the case, but because they’re from a small town they’re being threatened. And it needs to stop.”…”
She’s upset? Her son, because of his grandfather, managed to get away with a vicious rape. He got caught, literally with his pants down, and now people are trying to get a little justice for the girl he raped, and then was terrorized in Maryville. She doesn’t see anything wrong with that?
And – she’s teaching school?
This is what the whole “Free Kate” movement has done for us. From now on it is going to be open season on teenage victims, no matter what the gender. In a way, the Hunts were right about something. If Kate had been the granddaughter of someone remotely important and connected to the ways of the world, she would have walked free. Let’s ask the difficult and honest questions. Matthew Barnett plied his victim with booze. He raped her, and left her, cold, in bad weather, outside, exposed. Her mother, recently widowed, had do rush her to the hospital. Her family was targeted, viciously. Their home, up for sale, was burned to the ground. The victim has attempted suicide 3 times.
The charges against Matthew Barnett were dropped. We know the reason why. It was because of his grandfather’s political connections. Now, because the tale is being exposed to the light of day, his family is furious – because his life is being disrupted.
Yes, the girls were drinking. They were trying to attract Matthew’s attention. They were young teenage girls, trying to get the attention of the Big Man on Campus. They probably were out to get a little more than they expected. BUT – when they said NO, Matthew should have stopped what he was doing. No is no, no matter who is involved. He also should have had sense enough to comprehend that these were just little girls.
This is where the two cases merge. Kaitlyn Hunt’s victim was the same age. She was still a child. Kate should have had enough sense, consideration, and basic human decency to comprehend that a 14-year-old child is a 14-year-old child. The same thing holds true with Matthew Barnett. You don’t destroy a child’s innocence even when she is a 14-year-old girl trying to prove how grown-up she is.
Matthew Barnett should be in prison for rape, for brutalizing the child, and going off, leaving her in a position where she could have died from exposure. Instead of showing remorse, he’s playing the victim card, just like Kate Hunt. His victim, had she remained outside much longer, could have died. Would he have been arrested for murder? I doubt it. After all, he was BMOC.
The one thing we can take away from this is that, apparently it is open season on 14-year-old girls, be them lesbian or straight, sober, innocent, or drunk. It really doesn’t matter. The lesson learned is they are asking for it.
Yep, Kate Hunt’s biggest mistake was not choosing her parents wisely. Had they been famous, politically connected, and important, she too, would be enjoying her freshman year in college. Life sucks when you’re unimportant.
