Bigoted Welfare Queen in a Cowboy Hat

Screen Shot 2014-04-09 at 9.29.25 PMCNN asked Cliven Bundy if he was a welfare queen with a cowboy hat.  NOTE:  I am enjoying every minute of the Bundy meltdown.  I told you so.  I’ve been telling you for several weeks that Bundy was drawing from a very racist segment of the population.  We now know what it takes for some on the far right to turn on one of their own when it comes to racism and bigotry.  I have been telling you he is a lying bigot.  I love being right!

Remember back a few months ago, when Duck Dynasty ‘patriarch’ and bigoted homophobe Phil Robertson was given a pass, even by many liberals, over his happy-clappy hard-working cotton picking Blacks, working in the fields, blithely living a welfare free life?

“…Fox also took the lead in hailing Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson after he claimed that black people were well treated and “happy” during the Jim Crow era and that problems in the black community are only a result of government welfare. Gun groups, Tea Partyers, Religious Right activists, and the Koch brothers-funded Americans for Prosperity all joined Fox News in lauding Bundy as a hero who stood up to Obama.

No one should be surprised that a violent, militia-aligned, anti-government extremist turned out to be a racist nostalgic for slavery, and neither should anyone be surprised that Republicans jumped on his cause. During the Iowa caucus campaign, two Republican presidential candidates signed a Religious Right group’s declaration which said the black family was stronger under slavery, and attacking government programs as slavery has become a common right-wing talking point.

Now that Republicans and Fox News commentators may move to distance themselves from Bundy, it will serve as a reminder for the next time the GOP decides to get in bed with an anti-Obama extremist for freedom’s sake….”

It looks like some of the same groups who had no problem with Robertson’s overt racism, have the same reaction to Cliven Bundy.  Like they said of Phil Robertson, there was no proof he said what he did.  We also now know just how some members of the far right don’t even mind the racism.

“...Conservative pundit Dana Loesch even stuck to Bundy’s defense, arguing Thursday that he simply lacks media training.  This cycle has become all too familiar when it comes to conservative media symbols. Conservative media and lawmakers rallied around Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson after he was suspended from A&E for making offensive comments about gay people and African Americans. In fact, Robertson sounded a lot like Bundy when he asserted that African American sharecroppers were “singing and happy” in “pre-entitlement, pre-welfare” America. Joe the Plumber, the Republican hero of the 2008 presidential campaign, also used his platform to amplify racist speech, reposting an essay claiming that “wanting a white Republican president doesn’t make you racist, it just makes you American.”…”

Bundy and his supporters are so unhinged abut racism that even Glenn Beck is now considered a voice of reason, with his fans turning on him, to support Bundy.  Please, pardon me while I take a moment to savor the moment.  Why aren’t more Republicans calling out Bundy and his supporters as ‘communists’ welfare addicts?  FOX is apparently now ignoring Bundy, but is not calling him down on his racism.

Golly…..

“...Beck urged Bundy’s supporters to move away from the cowboy freeloader. “You’ve got to distance yourself,” he said. “You must know who you’re standing next to at all times.” The right-wing hos predicted the many excuses “the right” will use to excuse Bundy’s racism, including that Democrats are sometimes racist. He somewhat agreed with Bundy’s slavery claim regarding welfare, but admitted that “it’s not actual slavery.” “If that doesn’t end your relationship with him,” Beck said of the claim that black people are better off as slaves picking cotton, “you’ve to go back and question where did you go wrong.” Glenn Beck: too left wing to support Cliven Bundy. What is this world coming to?…

What is rather fascinating is that bigots and haters like Pat Dollard, WND, etc are using this clip to prove the above clip was edited to cause tremendous damage to Bundy? THIS is the version that exonerates him. Oh, really? He uses the “N” word, once. He does though, in their bigoted and horrible Hispanic hating minds, redeem himself because he is not a bigot when it comes to Hispanics, Mexicans, and those who are here, illegally. The great tragedy here is that he is simply saying the same thing many of them have, including Phil Robertson, that certain individuals who have skin a different color than ours were happier during the days before Civil Rights, welfare, and their families could be nurtured via slavery.

It must be bad if Hannity has turned on him.  Hannity told his people to turn Bundy off.  He no longer wanted to hear him.

“…At first, conservatives (possibly unable to read) refused to believe the print accounts of Bundy’s comments, accusing the liberal media of attempting to tear down a “patriot,” but were quickly shut down when video surfaced. Many conservatives, including notorious racist Rand Paul, have dropped Bundy like a bad habit–and Bundy is fighting back against allegations that he is a racist simply because he made bigoted remarks that put Phil Robertson to shame….”

Don’t worry, Dana Loesch is standing by her man.  He’s not racist, just not media savvy.   Evidently she still doesn’t get the fact that his entire tawdry tale is a total and complete lie.

“…I wrote this piece last night after I was told that criticizing the BLM was racist because of what Cliven Bundy said. Now this piece from Politico. Note that Jonathan Topaz didn’t reach out to me for comment. I simply asked for verification of Bundy’s remark, which I called awful, but that went ignored because the left is angry that I’ve only ever focused on the BLM. In fact, I repeatedly said on my radio program that this isn’t about Cliven Bundy, it’s always been about the abuse of the BLM. The left is unhappy with this because they want to use Bundy’s remark to invalidate the entirety of the claims against the BLM. Forget Tommy Henderson, Kenni Patton, or other ranchers who have weighty claims against the BLM, it’s all moot now because of Cliven Bundy. Bundy’s a racist, therefore anyone who agreed with his criticism of the BLM’s heavy-handed tactics is also a racist. Bundy’s a racist, thus the politicians who spoke against the BLM sending 200 armed agents to deal with a local issue must also be racists. Now it’s the left who wants to make this about Bundy and his remark so they can silence all criticism of the BLM. In their minds, you can’t condemn Bundy’s remark and criticize the BLM. ..”

Kevin Williamson of NRO defended him, saying that probably most of the men who died at the Alamo had some repugnant views.

But, he’s not a total racist.  He likes the ‘Spanish’ people.  He’s also just aping his betters.

Going back and reading comments on various blogs, the tragic thing is that Bundy’s core militia support, his tea party support, and his extreme libertarian support is going nowhere.  They believe the same thing he does.  So does Ted Nugent for that matter.  His remarks were no different from Phil Robertson.  He was less articulate and, as Dana Loesch has stated, a less media savy racist than Robertson, Nugent, Cruz, the Pauls, and so forth and so on.

That is what is truly sad about this whole, vile, affair.

  1. I might make the conjecture that Bundy’s is an issue far deeper and greater than mere racism/bigotry (and an entitled attitude riddled with cognitive dissonance). The man is quoting verbatim Cleon Skousen as well as some of the neo-confederates (and the big name there is quite failing me at this point, but it’s like the guy is reading bullet points from a memo).
Being a bigot/racist is odious enough — but if this conjecture of mine is correct, then Bundy is a part of something a lot more dangerous than some bigoted old coot…imhao of course.
