There is quite a bit of discussion about a narcissistic young woman, who is an abortion councilor, who filmed her abortion, edited the film, and put it to music. She had unprotected sex because she felt that hormone forms of birth control are terrifying. She also made the video to contrast the abortion experience over RU-487 In her Cosmo interview,s he said she felt like her abortion felt like giving birth, because she was surrounded by women who held her hand, supported her, and kept telling her how beautiful she was.
Emily Letts is enjoying her fifteen minutes of fame, thanks to a viral video showing the experience. It was an experience where she appeared to be quite chipper. Her actions, which are just plain strange, almost without a conscience, make it more difficult for people like me to defend abortion to those who are seriously against it.
Why did she do it?
“…“I had one woman who messaged me saying she’d had an abortion that week and she was plagued with guilt. Her boyfriend called her a killer, but she said she was recovering well and appreciated the video. Another woman told me she’d had a miscarriage and that because of my video she felt like she could talk to me about it. Just all of these things started pouring out of women.”…”
While Letts denies getting pregnant to prove a point, one wonders. She is an abortion counselor. She knows the score when it comes to unprotected sex. Don’t tell me she was caught up in the moment. This is what she wrote:
“…Once I caught my breath, I knew immediately I was going to have an abortion. I knew I wasn’t ready to take care of a child. The guy wasn’t involved in my decision. I called my supervisor and said, “Excuse me, I am going to need to schedule one abortion, please.” It was very early in the pregnancy, only two to three weeks….”
She wasn’t ready to take care of a child. Everything is about Emily Letts, in her own, bubbly, vivacious, giggling, laughing, smiling narcissistic way. In the process, she has hurt a lot of people. Unless a person is a craven, callous individual, having an abortion, even for birth control purposes, like Letts did, cannot possibly be a calm, happy, laughing, vivacious thing to do. It cannot be an easy thing to do. Even if one has no concern about the actual abortion, just the fact that it is an invasive medical procedure has risks, even thought the probability of risks are low. According to the Mayo Clinic, there are possibilities of an incomplete abortion which will need surgery, heavy bleeding, damage to the uterus, and infection.
I don’t approve of abortion the way Letts did it. In fact, I consider it murder. Sorry, but I do. I think abortion for birth control is wrong. Abortion is a terrible thing, a necessary evil when a woman becomes pregnant after being raped, or is a victim of incest or abuse. It is a viable medically necessity when a woman’s health and life is at risk. It is a thing of mercy when the fetus is so damaged that life would be short, miserable, and cruel.
But – let’s be hones there, I swear the woman went out and managed to get herself pregnant, having very casual sex with someone she did not even regard enough to tell what was happening, to prove a point. If so, and she became pregnant with the plan to film her abortion and enjoy her 15 minutes of fame, I consider what she did to be premeditated murder.
She took an innocent life.
There will be no consequences, only fame, fortune, and a cause where she will become a celebrity. That’s fine, but she’s hurting women who are in her position. She turned it into a happy-clappy circus. What is going to happen to the young woman who is in her position and has an abortion, then finds that she is not doing well, emotionally, afterward. Is she now going to think that there is something wrong with her – for not being happy, clappy, vivacious, well made-up, and celebratory?
No, Emily Letts is not capable of raising a child. She’s also not capable of doing her current job of abortion concealer. Having an abortion is a serious life choice, but this young woman doesn’t seem to comprehend the fact. She’s not capable of much other than celebrating the moment, which is quite tragic. What about the young woman who thinks that such a procedure is a cinch, and has life-altering complications? Who is to blame then?
Frankly, this is going to do more harm to the cause of reproductive freedom than it is going to help. I find her attitude repulsive and disgusting. It was flippant and self-serving. The rabid pro-life crowd is going to take her video and run with it, and, in doing so, ruin the lives of women who are truly in need of an abortion.
But – Emily Letts is now famous.
That’s all this was about – in the first place.
