PART XXII-C: Christian Reconstruction, ATI, Abuse & Submission – Manly Men & Patriarchs

Screen Shot 2014-08-05 at 11.00.42 PMOne of the problems with psychopaths are that many are basically sexual deviants and perverts. When you take into consideration the fact that there are now numerous sex scandals that are rocking the ‘industry’ it all makes perfect, logical sense. Add to it the sense of narcissistic entitlement, arrogance, and the absolute power people like Driscoll hold over their mega congregations and we are looking at a business model that is doomed to failure. Maybe that’s how we should think of it, as a business. If so, men like Driscoll, Gothard, Phillips, and so forth and so on would be removed in abject disgrace. So far, Gothard and Phillips have been removed. Like the true psychopath he is, Driscoll is in the process of having an epic meltdown of Biblical proportions.

It gets even more disturbing. There are numerous writers who keep wondering where the current version of the Republican Party conceptualized their War on Women which has led to today’s Rape Culture. Well, look no farther. It began with the godly men of New Calvinism, godly men who basically hate ungodly women, who dislike women so much that they will do just about anything to keep them submissive, oppressed, and must submit to their highest calling, a wife and mother who has no will of her own. To this end, godly men founded Patrick Henry College.

“…The self-policing that courtship culture requires, however, is not egalitarian. Responsibility falls disproportionately to women, who are taught to protect their “purity” and to never “tempt” their brothers in Christ to “stumble” with immodest behavior. “The lack of men’s responsibility or culpability for their own actions and the acceptance of male ‘urges’ as irresistible forces of nature is the understructure of Christian modesty movements and their secular counterpart,” the journalist Kathryn Joyce wrote in Quiverfull: Inside the Christian Patriarchy Movement. These movements, she noted, see “women’s bodies as almost supernaturally perverse and corrupting.”…”

The other day, Michelle Obama jokingly said that women are smarter than men.  The problem is that there will be stupid, silly, vapid little men who don’t take it as a joke.

In may, a very disturbed young man, Elliott Rodger, blaming everyone but himself for his inability to get what he really wanted from women, and encouraged by the growing anti-woman movement, online, took matters into his own hands. The result was the slaughter of the innocents. In 2009, in Quebec, Marc Lepine shot 28 people. He was fighting feminism. In the process, 14 women were murdered. In 2009, George Sodini walked into a gym in Pittsburgh, and shot 13 women. Three died. All three men were upset because women wouldn’t sleep with them. According to these seriously disturbed men, women are put on earth for their pleasure.

“...In 2012, Representative Todd Akin, running for Senate in Missouri, sparked a national outrage by speaking of what he called “legitimate rape”—a category, he implied, that did not actually apply to many rape cases. Patrick Henry College has sponsored similar ideas on sexual assault. Last September, the school chose Dr. Stephen Baskerville, a professor of government, to deliver a speech that the entire student body was required to attend. He argued that feminism and liberalism have transformed the government into “a matriarchal leviathan.” The result, he said, according to a copy of the speech, was a society plagued by politically motivated “witch hunts” against men—while “the seductress who lures men into a ‘honeytrap’ ” was really to blame. “Recreational sex in the evening turns into accusations of ‘rape’ in the morning, even when it was entirely consensual,” Baskerville explained. “This is especially rampant on college campuses.” (In a statement, PHC said Baskerville’s speech was “an exercise in academic freedom” and not “endorsed by the administration.”)…”

The cult of the masculine Christ is indeed taking on the aspects of a cult. It is being promoted complementarians like John Piper and Mark Driscoll of the Mars Hill Church. It is part of the world where man is man, made in the image of God, godly manhood, and women are an afterthought. To be a godly woman, she must obey her godly man, no matter what. Driscoll once preached:

“...Your Bible is a book that is comprise of 66 books written by roughly 40 authors over a period of a few thousand years, in three languages. The author of every book of the Bible is a man. These men lived in and built patriarcical societies, where the father and husband was the head of the home, and that he loved his wife and children; and protected them; and cared for them. And that the family name was traced and passed-down through the male line. In addition, we are told in scripture that worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; that they are our fathers in the faith. And the Bible talks a lot about our fathers in the faith.

God, throughout the scripture, is referred to as our “Father,” never as mother. And Jesus is referred to as the Son of God, never the daughter of God. He is our brother, and not our sister. A cursory reading of the Old Testament you will see that there is a lot in there about war; a lot in there about war. There are kings and prophets and priests. There are men who are working hard in agriculture. There are men who are in the fishing industry. There are men who are shepherds. There are also a lot of men who prepare and fight and go off to war to conquer God’s enemies and their enemies. You will see as well that there is a very high view of women in the Old Testament, contrary to anything you may have been told. That Biblical masculinity in the Old Testament is used for the purpose of loving and caring for the ladies. I’ll give you an example from the Old Testament….”

In a forum, years earlier, Driscoll represented himself as William Wallace, II. He began ranting about ‘pussified’ men who couldn’t control their woman. The comments in white are by a woman. Driscoll’s response is below, in gray. It is quite obvious Drisoll had/has absolutely no respect for women. We call men like that jerks.

A godly man, Matt Slick wrote the following dribble.  As usual, like other godly men, he manages to blame strong women for the little crises of masculinity godly, far right men are experiencing.  He doesn’t have the insight to even comprehend the reason couples divorce is NOT due to a crises in manhood.

“…There is a crisis of manhood in the Christian church. It has become so obvious to me lately. Five couples I know are having marital problems. In each case, it is the husband that is at fault. It is no wonder though with the assault on manhood in American Society. All you have to do is watch TV for a little while, and you will notice domineering women and wimpy men who are insecure and inept. The characterization of manhood by the media is definitely unbiblical and anti-Christian. In fact, it is creeping into the church, and the existence of women pastors is one of the signs of the failure of men in the Christian church to do their job….”

Like other godly men, he is clueless, absolutely clueless.  If he, and other godly men were even capable of intellectual honesty, they might start asking why the divorce rate is higher for non-godly men and why evangelicals have one of the highest divorce rates in the country.
