Rushdoony also was a racist. He believed in slavery. You can acquire slaves to pay off debt, as punishment for theft, capture in war, or by purchase. Rushdoony also thought the American Negro was better off being a slave. Only white Christians should be citizens and allowed to vote. Married woman may vote, if their husbands allow it. Jews will not be recognized by God. American Indians cannot vote. The wealthy are important, the poor are to be used and manipulated. His movement is embraced by Neo-Confederates. They are libertarian. Ron Paul is their god on earth. Somewhere in here, you will also find the Koch Brothers. Who do you think is funding the revolution?
“…One of the most disturbing aspects of Reconstructionism is its stated goal to reinstate the penal sanctions of the Mosaic law. Under the Mosaic system, the list of civil crimes which carried a death sentence went beyond murder to include homosexuality (Leviticus 20:13), adultery (Leviticus 20:10; Deuteronomy 22:22), incest (Leviticus 20:11, 14), lying about one’s virginity (Deuteronomy 22:20-21), bestiality (Leviticus 20:15-16), witchcraft (Exodus 22:18; Leviticus 20:27), idolatry or apostasy (Leviticus 20:2; Deuteronomy 13:6-17), public blasphemy (Leviticus 24:10-16), false prophesying (Deuteronomy 13:5), kidnapping (Exodus 21:16), rape (Deuteronomy 22:25), and bearing false witness in a capital case (Deuteronomy 19:16-19). In each of these cases, the civil magistrate of the commonwealth was given the very same prohibition (either expressly or implicitly): “Thine eye shall not pity him” (Deuteronomy 19:13,
Some of the greatest changes to any denomination in this country, because of Christian Reconstructionism and the dependency on the very worst of Calvinism is the Southern Baptist Church. The SBC I knew was all about the personal relationship one had with Christ. As I noted above, today’s follower of this brave new heresy basically doesn’t have a personal relationship with Christ. There is nothing about the individual relationship with Christ, but some esoteric corporate entity where their God is distant, preordained, and ignores personal conversion. If one is not of the elect, then no matter how much they believe, they’re not going to spend eternity with Christ. Yet, if they are of the elect, even if they are a Hitler or a Charles Mansion, they’re saved. Sorry, this isn’t what I believe. In 1998, the SBC limited the role of women, making them submissive to their husbands. This was not a part of the SBC way, until then.
This is a new religion. It is NOT Christian. It is incompatible with freedom, liberty, democracy, individuality, and independence. It requires allegiance to the group, punishment, dogma, the subjugation of women, abuse of children, and abuse of women. There is no room for individual though. Democracy is heresy. Any disobedience from the rules begets death.
One of the ways the Christian Reconstruction world works is to harass or silence anyone, especially Christians, who disagree with them. During the past couple of weeks, I’ve been on the receiving end of this harassment. It wasn’t much, but it was very well organized. The attack did not come against the blog, or on Twitter, but against a review I did on Amazon.
My regular readers must be annoyed with me for spending so much time on the subject of Patriarchy, Dominionism, and Christian Reconstruction. There’s a reason. Once I was able to link Larry Pratt with Rushdoony and can document that he was the one who first began the anti-immigration racism, then all the puzzle pieces I’ve been trying to blindly put together, for the past seven years, suddenly fit. Unlike the old five degrees of separation joke about Kevin Bacon, we’re not even dealing with two degrees of separation. When Rushdoony is directly linked to the John Birch Society, and drew on their deep pockets, it all fits.
It is no longer a conspiracy theory. It is no longer hypothetical. When one considers the fact that the late, great William F. Buckley once said that what he feared most was the John Birch Society joining forces with the Randian Libertarians, and we have a very real problem. Rushdoony’s new religion, created via New Testament hard-core unrelenting law, with only a few highlights from the New Testament, embraces Randian libertarianism. It is the perfect storm. Like Buckley said, the greatest threat to the freedom of the United States of America would come from them.
“…Unfortunately this Christian Reconstructionism of Rushdoony is based also on Holocaust denial and racism. Rushdoony believed that interracial marriage, which he referred to as “unequal yoking”, should be made illegal. He also opposed “enforced integration”, referred to Southern slavery as “benevolent”, and said that “some people are by nature slaves”. In The Institutes of Biblical Law he calculated Jewish deaths during the Holocaust to be between 896,292 and 1.2 million, suggested that many of those died of epidemics, and accused Holocaust survivors and researchers of bearing “false witness” against Germans, another Biblical law bearing the death penalty. Rushdoony states, “The false witness born during World War II with respect to Germany is especially notable and revealing. The charge is repeatedly made that six million innocent Jews were slain by the Nazis, and the figure–and even larger figures–is now entrenched in the history books”. He considers this a lie….”
Well, he was right. It is the greatest threat to freedom. It is the greatest threat to the United States of America. Not only do these people literally want to over-throw the current form of government and instill a theocracy where God tells the select elders anointed and in power, but anyone who is against it is a heretic. Rushdoony and his protege Gary North managed to manipulate their new religion into a form where anyone who objects to their perversion of Christianity is a heretic. Not only are we heretics, but we are to be executed. Anyone in public life, public office who objects, and fails to repent will be executed.
“…Rushdoony’s dislike of democracy and tolerance and the wide use he would make of the death penalty, the British Centre for Science Education called him “a man every bit as potentially murderous as Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot or anyone else you may want to name amongst the annals of evil” and “a thoroughly evil man.” Rushdoony forced his first wife to be committed to Agnew State Hospital (by Dr Rappaport) so that he could divorce her within his theology. His married lover, Dorthy Ross Kirkwood, subsequently did the same to her husband (Thomas Kirkwood). They married after both of their divorces were final. Rushdoony then forced his new wife to disown her adopted son, Tom Kirkwood….”
First, this explains the reason certain far right entities have joined forces with the militias, Sovereign Citizens, Oath Keepers, KKK, White Supremacists, and those who flirt with fascism. These are the ones who are constantly calling for Barack Obama to be tried for impeachment and even executed. It all makes sense. It is all quite terrifying because they are openly expressing the dirty little secret of this new religion that has managed to assimilate much of the far right. It began in 1984 with the Coalition on Revival. which spread the message of R. J. Rushdoony to the world, at large. They want to inflict Biblical Law on the rest of us. If you’ve noticed how many of the far right, Tea Party Republicans don’t quite get the Constitution, there’s a reason. They don’t care about the Constitution. It’s all tied up in Biblical Law.
They consider democracy to be ‘mob rule’. They consider women lesser beings, where God speaks through the men in their lives. The leaders of the new ‘Christian’ nation will be men anointed by God, to be leaders. Never mind if we know if they are rally ‘anointed’.
The most dangerous part of this entire movement is the fact that Rushdoony considered democracy to be heresy. That he felt power only came from God, to the anointed. Because he considered democracy to be mob rule, with individuals who might not be anointed by God voting and in power, it is better to sacrifice our freedom and become a dictatorship based on alleged anointed individuals who tell everyone what God told them, then to be free. Every aspect of society must become under theocratic rule. In other words – the Untied States must morph into a Christian Taliban, where women are submissive, daughters cloistered, husbands chosen, and anyone who objects will be accused of heresy, and executed as quickly as possible. The rules and laws enforced on the United States will be even harsher than those associated with hard-core Islam.
“…Nearly three and a half centuries later, the “New Puritans,” called Reconstructionists, want to do what the earlier ones could not. Believing they have a mandate from God to reconstruct American society, they want to establish a theocracy or Theonomy (God’s law) by instituting the civil code of the Law of Moses under which all Americans, and eventually all the world must live. They propose to eradicate democracy and reinstate a form of slavery. (Most Reconstructionists are also anti-Semitic and racist, views deeply seeded in the old Identity Movement that purported to be Christian.) Reconstructionism has married politics and attached its agenda to that arena. Under the cover of fighting abortion, homosexuality, witchcraft, pornography, secular public education, and other anathemas to Christianity, it has made enormous strides in religious and political affairs….”
The reason? Christ cannot come back to reclaim the Earth as His own until His Kingdom has been established. In order to bring about the end of the human race as we know it, the United States must become Christ’s own kingdom.
They encourage ignorance. Rushdoony is the one who basically started funding the Creationist movement, bankrolling the Institute for Creation Science. Rushdoony was the brainchild behind the religious home schooling movement. He felt the way to bring about a change in our society was to take children out of school and educate them, quite selectively. He also believed that the John Birch Society model is the way to achieve his goal of so-called Christian dominion of the earth.
No, this isn’t a crazy conspiracy theory. This is reality in the United States, 2014. We are on the cusp of being destroyed as a democracy and turned into a racist, fascist, religious dictatorship which is the creation of a man psychologists have concluded had the potential of being another Hitler. So do his followers. The creation of Rushdoony’s paradise on earth would result in the death of tens of millions of Christians in this nation, myself included. We don’t even need ISIS, to destroy our country. Reconstructionists will do it for them.
For those people who said this could never happen in the United States, well, it is happening, and we are like a frog being gradually boiled to death. You put a frog in cold water and gradually heat it and he boils to death. You put a frog in a pot of hot water and he jumps out. We’re slowly being boiled to death as a nation.
Christian Reconstructionism is corrupting the faith of this nation. It is an unhealthy blend of politics and religion, where only freedom is to be limited to Christians who believe the ‘right way’. Women are to be repressed. Children homeschooled and almost viciously abused, as babies, to behave in a godly manner. The only individuals who will be allowed to have freedom are those who own property and belong to the right church. In that way, there is no difference between Christian Reconstructionism and ISIS. Both are corruptions of great religions. Both are propagated by psychopathic narcissists, who are interested in power and their own agenda. Both manipulate individuals who are basically ignorant when it comes to the theology of their religion. Both are basically new cults, new religions which would demand their views be adopted by everyone. They both have irrational visions of world domination for their version of the cult they claim to be ordained by God. The only thing that prevents Reconstructionists from becoming violent and murderous is the very Constitution that, at the heart of things, Rushdoony claimed to be heretical.
