Psychopaths, Executions, and Terrorists

During 2010 and 2011, the United States executed 89 people.  The US carries out more executions than any other ‘liberal’ democracy.  In fact, of all the G8 countries, the US is the only one to allow legal murder.  When a goodly number of those executed are, indeed innocent, but have run out of ‘appeals’ or reside in a ‘red state’ where the governor is to busy pandering to law and order ‘Christians’, it is, indeed, legal murder.

In Iran,Mohsen Amir-Aslani was hung last week because he said that the story of Jonah and the Whale may have been fiction.  His crime was heresy.  On Monday morning, throughout the day, on various news shows, we were treated to a ranting discussion about convicted murderer, Jodi Arias.  The pundits were breathless about sentencing her to death. Would there be a ringer on the jury pool, someone who might have sympathy for her, and allow her to live.

On the nightly news, we have repeatedly been horrified over the realization that the criminals who pretend to be loyal to Islam have beheaded yet another innocent individual.  As a nation, many are in denial about what happened in Oklahoma over the weekend.  It was an act of terror.  It was an act of barbarism.  So are the haters who damn anyone who is Muslim.

Clarkson, for ages, has been noting the rise of the extreme racist ‘Christian’ right.  Now including the militias, they are advocating violence against those who disagree with them. One leading ‘Christian’ writer for the National Review, Kevin Williamson, went so far as to advocate the execution of women who have abortions and those who provide them.  His ‘shocking’ revelation is straight from the Gary North/R. J. Rushdoony playbook.

According to Amnesty International 140 countries have abolished the death penalty.  The United States is not one of them.

The discussion about Jodi Arias was indeed chilling.  As an American, I was embarrassed.  The woman is being retried in order to have another shot at executing her, because the last jury just couldn’t do it.  So, instead of giving the headline loving psychopath absolute anonymity of the indignities of life in prison, she’s getting another round of national attention. Not only that, but there is something absolutely chilling about a DA demanding that a person, who was not given the death penalty by jury, to be re-sentenced so they can promote their law and order stand.

It is absolutely barbaric.  It is embarrassing and humiliating – to us as a nation.  The very same individuals who want to fight the barbarism of Islamic terror and demand an end to abortion, have no problem executing people who have been found guilty in a court of law.  They are rather proud of it. Personally, I don’t think we have any moral grounds to fight terrorists like ISIS until we declare an end to terminating the life of individuals, no matter how evil they are.
