If you are a fan of Twin Peaks, as am I, you know all about backward talk. The other day, David Lynch announced that the legendary and groundbreaking series would return to Showtime in 2016. Quite frankly, I can’t wait. I suspect I’m one of those weird people who will host a viewing party. After all, it will be an event. The series was stylish, mystifying, weird, strange, and just plain David Lynch. I always wondered why he never bothered bringing it back until now, unless he finally came up with a very good story line. There are rumors that Agent Dale Cooper will be returning. After all, that’s one damn good cup of coffee. With luck, we will see the rest of the quirky cast, many of whom appeared in a wacky episode of Psych about a year ago. I do hope the Log Lady will return. Is the coffee still as good as it once was? What about the Pie? Is Agent Cooper still possessed by the demon?
Let’s face it, the series had one of the most haunting, and iconic themes – ever. If you were to list the top five television themes, I’d put it up there, not far past Bonanza, Star Trek, Hawaii 5-O (which is arguably the greatest theme – ever), and maybe Miami Vice.
The problem with all of this is that we will get a few answers, but mostly we’ll end up having more questions than answers. David Lynch knows how to generate a buzz, that’s for sure.
