This is my first Father’s Day without my father. He loved old movies. He instilled in my sister and I, and his three grandchildren a love for old movies, and music he liked. One of his favorite singers was Bing Crosby. My mother liked his music, but couldn’t stand the movies he made with Bob Hope. She had and still has no tolerance for Dorothy Lamour. We would watch the “Road To” movies with him, while she would sit there, impatiently, constantly complaining about being unable to tolerate Dorothy Lamour. It was quite funny. As an admitted baritone junkie, I would be completely remiss if I did not list him among the very best of the Hollywood crooners.
