I don’t like narrow-minded people. I don’t like people who make assumptions about others simply because of the color of their skin, their religion, their politics, or sexual orientation. The most tolerant among us do a great job of advertising how tolerant they are. They say they are, I gather we must believe them. They are very proud of the fact that they are not biased, to the point where they basically damn anyone who is not as unbiased as are they. There’s just one little problem with their philosophy in life. People who say they are not biased and do not harbor normal prejudices of life are more biased and more racists than those of us who admit that we have biases, and try to over-come them.
“…Some white Americans like to pat themselves on the back for being racially color blind. But a new study published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology finds that whites aware of their biases are better equipped to address contemporary racial challenges, where prejudice is often expressed in subtle, unintentional and unconscious ways….”
An Arbys in Orlando is under fire because they refused to serve a cop. The manager said they have a right to refuse service to anyone. Yet, if that same person had refused service to someone who was a minority, gay, or some protected status they would be destroyed. The left is celebrating the jailing of Kim Davis over contempt. If she had been held in contempt for providing a marriage license to a gay couple, they would be celebrating her as a hero. What sickens me is the same people who are complaining about strict sentences against drug users want her to do a year in jail for not issuing a marriage license to a same-sex couple. It all depends on which side a person is on, evidently.
The same thing holds true for racism. Dylann Root is seriously disturbed. All you need to do is look at a photo of him. He is a disciple of hate. The left holds that hate and the history of the South, the Civil War, the Confederate flag, and anyone who disagrees with their version of what racism is, responsible. Never mind the young man has cooked his brain on various drugs and medications, and is not rational. Ergo, they are going to seek the death penalty for him. Now, let’s fast forward to Shannon Miles. In 2012 he was found incompetent to stand trial for a felony he committed. Because of his mental illness the left is excusing him, rightfully, of being influenced by the extremist hate of the very worst of #BlackLivesMatter. He is looked upon with pity. Root is a monster. Root will be executed. I doubt if the same will happen with Miles. It should not. I do not believe in the death penalty.
It’s all in how the left looks at things.
People need to be consistent. If you celebrate someone’s willingness to be a prisoner of conscience, it doesn’t matter what that issue is, you should be consistent. If you make a stand on racism, then apply your ire, equally. The problem is, the left apparently can’t do this. The right’s fairly bad about it, but the left has lost it.
The real problem with the left is that they’re forgetting human nature. They are forgetting how to use psychology on people, and why people tick. I don’t know why. My first response is that it is due to abject arrogance. You can’t force people to do what you want. The right has tried this and became an abject joke. The left is doing the same thing. People are people. They are going to do what they want, no matter what anyone says. Human nature is never going to change.
