PLEASE NOTE: I have repeatedly stated that I do not support Donald Trump. I still don’t support him. I am supporting my friend, Lindsey Graham. Survey USA has a new poll out that is a nightmare, a pure, unadulterated demographic nightmare for the Democrats. I like the poll because of the cross-tabs. Let me also state, up front, that polls this time of the political season are snapshots of the moment. As with any good political poll, because of our unique system, the real polls that count are state by state. If this poll were a year from now, the Democrats would be in very serious trouble. It isn’t but I think they have some real problems. When my economic idol, Paul Krugman comes out and says he likes Trump’s economic ideas, we have a real problem.
If I were given to more than operatic fits of fantasy, I would swear we are watching a POTUS version of Faust, complete with the candidate having the ability to appeal to far too many people with differing values, and wriggle out of it. (And no, I am going to attempt no to throw in one of my favorite baritone arias from Faust.) I’m sorry, I can’t help it.
Faust is about a man who literally sells his soul to the devil to get what he wants. Everyone dies in order for him to attempt to get everything he wants. He destroys what he loves most. It’s known as a Faustian deal with the devil. Aside from the fact that I think the deal with this devil is going to cost the GOP its very heart and soul, that’s another rant and rave for another day.
If you look at some of the hidden demographics in the Survey USA poll, well, the Dems have a problem. Today, Trump is beating everyone. It doesn’t matter. A year is a lifetime in politics and literally anything can happen. And, no, I don’t expect Trump to be on top. It is very rare for a Republican to stay in first place for a whole year. The GOP has a tendency not to anoint. Oh, they do, but that’s more about the second term races with a popular Democrat in office. You throw in someone who ‘deserves’ the nomination, just to honor them, knowing good an well it’s as hopeless as the Braves getting into the World Series this year. It ain’t gonna’ happen.
A few of us have been saying that the reason so many Republicans are running for POTUS this time is because, like sharks, they smell blood in the water. That blood is Democrat blood. When a party has been in power for 8 years, it is a normal part of nature. The problem is, people don’t do normal anymore. They don’t use their heads and are incapable of thinking for themselves. The Dems have very real problem. One perfect example of this is the fact that the crowd-funding platforms are refusing to allow Kim Davis to raise money on them because she is a bigot.
In other words, only people who pass a specific litmus test are allowed to raise money on crowdfunding platforms now. That is so wrong in so many ways. I don’t care what the issue is, or who the person is. We do have the same rights – or did at one time. Don’t ban someone because they are embracing a cause that is not politically correct or doesn’t appeal to the ‘right’ people. Let it stand or fall on its own. I gather there are entities who are afraid there might be more people out there who approve of the cause or person than they might like.
Once upon a time, we all had the same rights, under the First Amendment. Frankly, I would rather the woman not make any money over terribly biased quest to break the law, tilt at windmills, and cost the tax-payer a heck of a lot of money. But, people have the right to donate to her via social platform.
And yes, I am well aware she is in jail for contempt. I think she is wrong and making a fool out of everyone. She should be required to resign from her job. But, if people want to be stupid enough to donate money to her ’cause’ they should be allowed to do so.
One of the real problems in our society today is no one is willing to see the other side of the story, or cut anyone any slack. Everything is black and white, no gray. You are either good or bad, right or wrong, enlightened or a bigot. If you don’t agree with Group X you are a racist, bigot, and white supremacist. If you don’t agree with Group Y then you are a out-of-control liberal. There is no longer any room for moderation, common sense, logic, or reason.
I don’t know if there are many of us out there, people who are completely disgusted with the right and with the left. No one is allowed an opinion that deviates from what they are told. There is no room for original thought. It has been decreed that people who disagree with them are evil and must be destroyed.
So much for freedom, right?
I was told that there is no Left in this country. The problem is that the Left has become so extreme it is unrecognizable. The Left is no longer what the Left once was. It has morphed into what the far Right has become. It is shrill, cruel, vicious, and almost evil. I have watched things change this past year. Politically, I am one of the few people who are more comfortable being moderate. There are conservative issues I like. There are liberal issues I like. But, people like me have no where to go. Four years ago, this migration hurt the GOP, badly, when people like me deserted it. This time, it is going to hurt the Dems.
The only exception for voting Dem would be Joe Biden. I would vote for him. That’s it. I am so turned off by the Democrats that I’ve reached the point where I can barely stomach them. The same holds true for most Republicans.
Maybe I’m not the only one. If what Survey USA found in its internals, the Dems are in very bad trouble.
If these numbers are accurate, the Democrats are in very big trouble. So is the GOP when it comes to the Hispanic vote, but right now, if this is accurate Trump is pulling around 25% of the black vote. These are people who plan on voting.
Houston, we have a problem. Compare the Survey USA numbers with final numbers from 2012. We’re looking at what could be a disaster for the Democrats.
I don’t like to be cynical and nasty, but I think there is a reason for the Dems and their increasingly obvious race-baiting. They’re losing it. The Dems are made up of specific voting blocks. It is their strength, and it could be their ultimate downfall. They rely on ‘minority’ voting blocks: women, different nationalities, races, etc.
This is a nightmare. Not only is Trump’s anti-immigration rhetoric not working, but he’s currently pulling more Hispanic voters than Obama did. Common sense says that Trump’s anti-immigration rhetoric should be hurting him with Hispanic voters, but he’s doing just a tad better than Romney did, thus far. There’s a reason for this. Hispanics don’t vote in a block. Like the average black person, they are conservative and family oriented. I live in New Mexico. The Hispanics I know here, and I even know naturalized Mexicans, who are now American citizens, are the most anti-immigrant voters I know.
If this is the case, like I’ve said for ages, the Democrats are in trouble. I truly think one of the reasons we’re hearing such extremist race-bating rhetoric from those on the left is they are in danger of losing one of their main voting blocks. If a quarter of black voters are thinking about voting for Trump, over the chosen one – Hillary Clinton, and 16% are undecided this is huge.
There are two other demographics where the Dems are losing. The first is income. The second is education. That’s a new one. Moderates are split.
The bottom line …. the only real hope the Democrats have, right now, is Joe Biden. They can’t engineer an economic crises. We’re in one as it is. A war isn’t going to help them. One of these days they are going to over-play their hand, big time. The GOP did it with the Kochs and the Tea Party.
I love politics!
