Once upon a time a man named Gary Hart dared the press to follow him as he proved he did not have a girl friend. He did and they did. He was required to drop his presidential bid. Teddy Kennedy crossed one bridge to many.
Things on the campaign trail are getting a little testy, thanks to manipulation of nude photos, alleged affairs, alleged indictments, alleged cocaine snorting – and none of those are Donald Trump’s fault, believe it or not. The punditry world is just terribly upset over the lack of dignity and the corruption of the system, but maybe we’re just partying like it is 1828. Dirty politics is nothing new to this country. Very rarely has there ever been dignity in our politics. Fact is, it is almost a fairly new concept – Ma Ma Where’s My Pa, Gone to the White House, Ha Ha Ha! James Buchanan lived with Alabama senator William Rufus King for years. Abraham Lincoln referred to Buchanan as King as spouses. Both FDR and Eleanor had their girlfriends.
Then there was Old Abe. He shared a house and a bed with Joshua Fry for several years. Contrary to tales that people commonly shared beds in the frontier, they weren’t living on the frontier. This one is a quandary. According to one biographer, Mary Todd Lincoln had a serious drinking problem, which her husband enabled.
Then there was JFK. His father basically bought the election in Illinois. Nixon refused to contest it because he did not want to put the country through such a battle. FYI, Nixon was alleged to have had a gay affair with a mob associate. Then there was LBJ – who was pure filth.
“…According to legend, this amphetamine-addled lothario had his own personal midlife “missile crisis” inside Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Angie Dickinson, Gene Tierney, famous stripper Blaze Starr, painter Mary Pinchot Meyer, mobster moll Judith Exner Campbell, and two White House secretaries commonly referred to as “Fiddle” and “Faddle.”
Did I leave anyone out? I’m sure I did.
Despite all the unanswered questions about his death, the only question I have is why his wife Jackie wasn’t the one that shot him….”
This was shocking.
The look on Jane Sanders’ face said it all. She was momentarily shocked, then she just smiled. Yes, I know what you are thinking, and I’m thinking the same thing. The way she reacted, and bounced back said it all. His pushing her around is not a new thing. If my father had done that to my mother, he would no longer have a right arm. She should have walked away from him, instead of the way she reacted.
What is rather fascinating about the Ted Cruz sex scandal is no one is defending him. According to Roger Stone, who ran with the piece, he’s so sure of it he is daring people to file a lawsuit against him.
Which brings us back to Trump, and all those stories about how vile he is to women. The women in his life gush about him. Aside from the divorces and the trophy wives you don’t hear anything bad about him. I guess that’s the irony, isn’t it? If Donald Trump had done what Bernie did, he would be drawn, quartered, hung, boiled in oil, waterboarded, and given no quarter.
The real problem here is we’re dealing with a media that is so ignorant, they have no grasp of our history.
