Feminists, Whores, Successful Women, and the Slut Walk

One of the things I find fascinating about this horrible story is the fact that the actresses who profited the most by prostituting themselves to Harvey Weinstein are the ones I dislike most. It also is rather curious that legends like Meryl Streep (I can’t stand her) knew what was happening and said nothing.  Of course not.  By remaining silent, and allowing young women to be prostituted or have their careers destroyed, women like Streep were insuring their longevity.  They were eliminating the competition.

Aside from politics, my greatest objection to  Hillary Clinton is the fact that she did not earn her political career.  She slept with it.

Carrie Fisher once threatened a leading producer. Courtney Love basically had her career destroyed for trying to expose Weinstein. Actress Lauren Holly:

“…Holly says the moment Weinstein exited the shower and approached her while naked was when “everything changed.” She claims Weinstein then told her she needed a massage because she appeared “stressed” and then asked her to give him one. She recalls him saying, “It would be bad for [her] career” if she left and that she needed to “keep him as [her] ally.” In order to leave, Holly says she “pushed him and ran.” She told “influential people in Hollywood” at a dinner party later that night what happened with Weinstein, but was advised that, since he didn’t assault her: “You need to keep your mouth shut because it’s Harvey Weinstein.” Years later, Holly says Weinstein tried to meet with her when they were staying at the same hotel, but she avoided him at all costs. She now wonders if distancing herself from the mogul cost her film roles: “I felt like he was dangling that freeze-out … You don’t know what’s in the head of a monster.”…”

I feel as though we were sold a fake and total lie that as women, we could make it on our ability, knowledge, and integrity.  I gather the only way women truly succeed is either via nepotism or other abilities that have nothing to do with integrity.  Stupid me for walking away from the editor who created romance legends and the promise of a best-seller.  I kept my integrity and walked away with nothing.

This has left me with absolutely no respect for any of these women.  I have no pity nor do I feel sorry for them. Many were obviously well rewarded for services rendered and those of us who chose not to play the game came out the losers.

Every time I now see a woman who is a major success I will automatically assume she slept her way to the top.  I know it happens in business.  One of the mega banks was infamous for it.  I had a friend who was limited in her climb to the top while the women who performed were given promotions.

I encountered it in White House politics many years ago.

Now I realize it is endemic and we women are allowed only so much in this world. In order to truly succeed we are still required to sleep our way to success either by marrying into power or by resorting to the world’s oldest profession.  Those of use who fell for the lie of morality, integrity, and ability are the true losers of life.  The lesson here is tell young women to either be willing to put out or stay home, limit career choices to traditional careers like teaching or get married have babies and tell your daughters we women truly are second class citizens.

I now see a successful woman and automatically think prostitute.  You want bitter? I threw my life away believing I could actually achieve something.  I now treat successful women with contempt.  It was that way even when I was going to Clemson. I chose the F.  The girls who slept with the prof passed the coarse.  I was so young I did not know what to do. In those days no one said anything.  I wanted to do retail buying.  I was quickly told in order to get the job you slept with the CEO.  It’s not just Hollywood.

Nothing, in recent years, has upset me as much as has this story.  I walked away from a situation, which would have put me in a position to be a best selling novelist.  The person who made the offer had a track record of rewarding services rendered.  He promoted several of the most famous romance novelists of the past forty years.  I would have made and sold millions.   But, I chose not to sell myself.  I am the loser.

My heart aches for all those women like me, who chose to maintain our honor and virtue, and ended up with nothing.  I suspect we are the stupid ones.  Today, we are castigated and treated like dirt for speaking out about how we refused to surrender and prostitute ourselves.  We lack compassion or understanding for those who did.  That is correct, I have no compassion for those who did.  By refusing to do what was right and moral, they destroyed the futures and careers of many woman.  I include myself as part of that group.

I have no compassion for them.  They prostituted themselves and they profited.  I don’t want to see or hear fake tears and tales of heartache.  I have compassion for women like me.  We’re now old, ruined, hideously ugly, broke, our lives in ruins. You see how far honor and decency managed to get us – nowhere. We are unloved, alone, and total failures – all because we did what was right.

My advice for young women?  If you want to get ahead, become a whore.  It’s the only avenue open to women, even in this day and age.

So much for feminism.

Once upon a time, during the days of the Wild West, the women who had the happiest endings and the best lives were the hurdy gurdy saloon girls.  The virtuous schoolmarms ended up alone, their lives shattered, and most likely – suicidal.

There are no happy endings for women who are determined to be moral and decent.  We are a joke.  I suspect it was always thusly so.
