SUNDAY MORNING OPERA: Looking Forward from Behind

We’re facing a new year.  Frankly, I have no desire to look at the year we are leaving.  My heart has been broken several times. I’m sick and tired of people who are important to me dying.  I just don’t want to deal with it.  Tuesday is the anniversary of my mother’s death.  She absolutely adored the late, great Robert Merrill.

This is for her.

Want a treasure? I just found one. This is absolutely amazing. OMG, what a voice. It reminds me of why we love baritones so very much. I can’t believe he was able to get away with appearing at the Sands, and not be punished. The Met was rough about that, years ago.

Nothing else is needed today. The entire clip is a treasure.

Next week is our annual salute to the greatest of them all, who celebrates a birthday on the 10th.
