Sunday Morning Opera: The Ides of March

The Ides of March will be on Thursday, this year. On the corresponding date, in 44 BC, saw the death of Julius Caesar, and the Roman Republic’s slide into Empire. There aren’t that many incidents in history documented in opera. In 1724 George Frideric Handel’s opera, Giulio Cesare, premiered.

Unfortunately, the scene below features one of the Met’s disgusting freakish productions where history is ignored.
