Palin Thumbs Nose at CPAC While McCain Seen as Leader of the GOP
Who knew that John McCain would be seen as the leader of the GOP in this Tea Party “patriot” era? A new Harris Poll points to the fact that perhaps things aren’t as extreme as the Far Right and the Ron Paul Bots would like one to think it is.
“..Other Republican leaders who are viewed by many people as influential and as leading voices in the party include former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, McCain’s vice presidential running mate and former governor of Alaska Sarah Palin, and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. These six Republicans, all of whom would probably like to be the next Republican presidential candidate, are seen as about as influential as each other. But more people see Palin and Limbaugh as leading voices of the party, and Palin scores more highly among Republicans….”
Interestingly, this is not a “inside” conservative thing, but a general poll. There are those who think the “tea party movement” is going to become to the GOP what MoveOn.org is to the DNC. If so, we have a problem. MoveOn has done more to push the DNC farther left than anything we could possibly imagine. If the “tea party movement” decides to do the same thing with the GOP, we will be in serious trouble. Even Ron Paul appears to be throwing the Tea Party “patriots” under the bus.
How Conservatives Destroy Good Republicans
There are certain conservatives who will do just about anything in order to destroy Republicans who do not meet their personal requirements for conservative pure. Talking heads like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Laura Ingraham are the first who come to mind, but they are not the worst of the lot.
Michelle Malkin appears to enjoy destroying Republicans. She has set her sights on Carly Fiorina, who is not pure enough for Malkin’s tastes. Naturally Michelle Malkin ALWAYS fails to mention that she IS NOT a Republican, but a far right extremist with some rather tawdry associates. Her previous attempts to destroy Lindsey Graham over immigration reform resulted in a nasty feud with Geraldo Rivera. He retained his position with FOX News. She did not. While she appears on a few FOX shows, she is closely aligned with Glenn Beck, which should tell thinking people all they need to know.
Malkin, Beck, etc. are almost single issue extremists. Everything goes back to their restrictive, irrational, and almost racist version of immigration reform. In this they are not their own persons, but follow the anti-immigration puppetmasters who call the shots. They are the ultimate power of life and death in the far right. John McCain opposed their racist version of immigration reform. He must be destroyed. Lindsey Graham opposed their racist version of immigration reform. He must be destroyed. Mike Huckabee opposes their racist version of immigration reform. He must also be destroyed. George W. Bush opposed their racist version of immigration reform. He had to be destroyed.
It is that simple.
This is NOT about the horrible murders in Seattle. The far right is NOT telling the whole story, not telling the truth of what is going on there. This is more about the character assassination of yet another normal, rational Republican by the minions of the Far Right who are more concerned in keeping their own power base than putting a majority GOP back in power. The whole idea is to destroy reasonable Republicans, lying about their real voting record, and keeping the Dems in power. There is no other logical reason for the far right to behave the way they are currently acting.
The Conservative Civil War Against the GOP Is Here
“…THE storm of conservative fury at Ronald Reagan may have subsided a bit, but, as one of the President’s own men in the White House conceded late last week, ”There are some who are still in a real sour mood.”…”
Once Upon a Time… a very conservative man named Richard Viguerie hated Ronald Reagan, and did everything he could to ruin his Presidency. Today he’s back, crowing about the Tea Party People and how they are now the new GOP. God Help Us All! The problem is only 56% of conservatives consider themselves GOP. If this is true, and this bunch of Tea Party Yahoos are NOT Republican, then tell them
THE PENDING GLENN BECK TRAIN WRECK
Last Monday, yet another creepy episode of Glenn Beck is way over the edge. He is basically asking people to betray the GOP and do something – what ever. The man is a train wreck waiting to happen. If Glenn Beck were to get his way, the Dems would maintain control of the House and the Senate in 2010. If this happens, just kiss our country good-by.
I don’t want to give in to hysteria, but is Glenn Beck a plant for George Soros and the DNC? He certainly isn’t helping the GOP (unless it is over a cliff). He’s helping FOX, and himself, but is in the process of causing what could be perminent and irreperable to the country in the process.
There is a little “buzz phrase” The Pink Flamingo looks for when dealing with the far far far far far right who want you to think they are Republicans.
What?
“I’m for taking the Republican Party back for true conservatives.”
The minute I hear that I think Ron Paul Bot or Glenn Beck Clown School Drop-Out. That one phrase tells The Pink Flamingo we’re not actually dealing with a Republican but someone who is a sore-head, Ross Perot style drop-out, have it my way – OR ELSE!
From Down with Tyranny:
“...NY-23 up near Montreal in northeast New York, has more cows than people– and more Republicans than Democrats. The Inside-the-Beltway and national media have jumped into the race, marveling at how the GOP is managing to screw up their chances there with a vicious intraparty civil war. Watch the video below of Beck calling for a right-wing jihad against the Republican Party establishment in the name of teabaggery and keep in mind that he still has one full week for a full on Vicks Vaporub weeping session before the balloting is over. Even more important to remember, though, is that NY-23 isn’t the only congressional race shaping up to be a showcase for the struggle between mainstream conservatives and the unhinged, Hate-Talk inspired teabaggers trying to capture the GOP….”
Republicans who do not agree to the conservative threat of support OR ELSE of Doug Hoffman are already being damned. Erick Erickson has already declared war on Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, and Mike Huckabee. Conservatives have reached the point where they are demanding “purity” or they are out to destroy good, decent, honorable men and women.
Conservative Sharia & Purge (The GOP of Conservative Saboteurs)
‘‘It is unlikely that the Reagan era
will prove to be the historic change
in the direction of America that we have sought.”
Edwin J. Feulner Jr., president of the Heritage Foundation,1985.
According to Rasmussen:
“…while Republican voters overwhelmingly consider themselves conservative, only 56% of conservative voters consider themselves to be Republicans. In other words, nearly half of all conservatives nationwide reject the Republican Party label. This means that Republicans looking to broaden their party’s outreach cannot ignore the need to attract a large number of conservative voters along with some political moderates. Of all the non-Republicans in the nation, 31% consider themselves at least somewhat conservative while 37% say they’re political moderates….”
When I hear the word “purge” it makes me want to throw up. That’s just about the way I feel now that Michelle Malkin, Erick Erickson, and their little bunch of Tea Partiers all have decided to purge the GOP of the impure. In fact, Erickson is calling for a “Purge” of the GOP establishment.
Rush Limbaugh is calling for a purge.
“…“Moderates by definition have no principles,” Limbaugh huffed on his radio show yesterday. He predicted that “RINOs” – a putdown acronym of “Republicans In Name Only” – “may become extinct.”
Unfortunately, while I think Erickson is extreme, he redeems himself (sort of):
“…I intend to work within the GOP. Already Democrats are salivating at the thought of a third party conservative movement and are intent on fostering it to hurt the GOP. I will not cooperate with a third party movement. As I have said repeatedly, Doug Hoffman is the exception that proves the rule. America is a two party nation and instead of packing up and fleeing the GOP, we should launch a coup and take it back. Consider NY-23 the first salvo in that coup, with the Florida Senate race right behind it…”
Conservatives constantly complain about the Dems, how unfair they are. That they are bullies. They lie, they cheat, manipulate, are vicious, and will do anything to get their way. I have news for them – maybe they should try looking in a mirror!
There is absolutely no difference in the behavior and tactics of the far right than the far left. Only the ideologies are different. The cruel hate is the same.
What do the following have in common?
Ronald Reagan
George H. W. Bush
George W. Bush
Newt Gingrich
John McCain
Lindsey Graham
All six are good, decent patriotic men of honor, followers of Christ, and betrayed by the far right because they were not good enough – not pure enough. And so – the list of those to be purged includes John McCain and Lindsey. The worst part of it, they are far better, far more decent, far more honorable and patriotic individuals than those dim-wit closed-minded idiots who are more interested in purity than country. Ronald Reagan detested those kind of people – the purists. They were the ones who hated Reagan.
NY-23 It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World
What is arguably one of the greatest comedies ever made is Stanley Kramer’s classic It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. The 1963 film had one of the most amazing comedic casts ever assembled. It is all about seemingly innocent men and women who get drawn into the most hilarious car chase ever, all for money. In the process lives were ruined, careers destroyed, and almost every one of them ended up in jail.
Is NY-23 a litmus test for 2010? The far right wants us to think it is. Newt thinks something else is going on – a purge. He could be right – but The Pink Flamingo thinks something else is going on.
NY-23 appears to be a litmus test for the towering egos who want to be POTUS, or want to control the GOP.
IT’S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD
It is like a line about Tombstone in 1882, nothing but a mining town, dirty and small minded.
That’s what we are dealing with – dirty and small minded twits who do not comprehend that we are starting to see the “stars” jockey for position for 2012.
The Pink Flamingo is not unconvinced the whole battle in NY-23 is not a way for Jerri Thompson to settle herself (not her hubby) on the center stage.
Who is going to win the tug – o – war?
Can Sarah Palin use Facebook and call the shots?
Tim Pawlenty is playing ketchup.
Fred Thompson is being led around by his much younger wife – as usual.
Newt Gingrich is being denounced by the extreme far right.
Jim DeMint is behaving as usual.
We’re not hearing much from Mitt Romney.
Mike Huckabee is going to South Carolina.
Rick Santorum is in there fighting.
Steve Forbes is donating $$$$.
Dick Armey is Tea Partying.
Now They’ve Turned on Newt
My grandfather Froehlich was a cattleman all of his life. He had the largest independent dairy in south Florida, milking several hundred cows on a 24 hour basis. Having spent all of his life around cows, he had a tendency to equate and philosophize about life via cows. He also had a rather cynical view of humanity, likening them to cows.
He would have a very dismal view of today’s “conservative base”, considering them nothing but cattle.
What happens when people who are NOT Republican acquire enough power to manipulate themselves into the position where they can call the shots?
Okay, they are smart. They are a heck of a lot smarter than “we are”. If we had half their cunning, duplicitous brains, we would know how to manipulate them and not the other way around.
Republicans who allow it are just downright pathetic. That’s what is going on in the GOP today. A minority group of conservatives have terrorized our more spineless Republican officials into thinking THEY ARE THE BASE, when nothing could be farther from the truth.
Why should people who have no relationship with a political party be the ones who call the shots?
They are abusive bullies who have come up with a formula to terrorize our elected officials. When good men like Lindsey stand up to them, well – you can see the results. They lie, denigrate, abuse, and manipulate.
Golly, they are good conservatives!
The far right now thinks Newt Gingrich is not good enough for them. They’ve also turned on Mike Huckabee, but then they never did like Huck. This whole mess is because the NY GOP is absolutely incompetent.
