“…In the skies today we saw destruction and tragedy. Yet farther than we can see, there is comfort and hope. In the words of the prophet Isaiah, “Lift your eyes and look to the heavens. Who created all these? He who brings out the starry hosts one by one and calls them each by name. Because of His great power, and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.”
The same Creator who names the stars also knows the names of the seven souls we mourn today. The crew of the shuttle Columbia did not return safely to Earth; yet we can pray that all are safely home….”

What is it about a moment of disaster (that has nothing to do with terror) just seems to bring out the worst in some conservatives?
Rush Limbaugh did nothing to help himself with his petty remarks about Barack Obama. Instead of discussing Obama’s incompetence, he had to go straight for the racial angle.
Doesn’t Limbaugh know when to keep his big fat mouth shut?
Ann Coulter then compounds the truly repulsive moment by distinguishing herself commenting how repulsive and disgusting Bill Clinton is. Was she making fun of the work he is attempting to do? Then she makes fun of GWB for working with him.
What kind of mindset do these people have?
Does their compassion only extend to people of a certain color?
Or more importantly does their compassion extend only to conservatives?
Even liberals have problems and deserve compassion, right?
“…Her Taliban comment is the height of one of these three: ignorance, stupidity, (or) dishonesty. I want someone with energy, someone that wants to change it all. She’s lock step business as usual in a way that should be frightening.” Curt Schilling
In New England two things are sacred. You DO NOT diss those two sacred entities and expect to remain in office for very long. You can trash the USA. You can say something nasty about religion – just pick a religion. Misc. elected officials can be insulted, they are fair game. Same thing holds true with the Kennedys. Insult ‘em, it’s okay.
Coakley can insult Catholics, our troops, and be a total idiot when it comes to national security. She can (sort of) get away with it – while proving she is a total idiot.
BUT – when you diss the Boston Red Sox and their cathedral, Fenway Park, the sin is unpardonable. The only thing she could do that would be worse is insult the memory of Ted Williams.
(Disclaimer: The Pink Flamingo is a National League fan, primarily pulling for the Braves. When pulling for the AL, I support the Red Sox).
(AJ Strata thinks she has managed to sink her campaign).
Or as the guys at HillBuzz put it:
“...Martha Coakley’s practically taken photos of Fenway Park, ripped them up into confetti, thrown them in the air, then had dogs urinate on them. Her attitude is deplorable. It really does appear her true nature is coming out in this campaign: she infuriated us by having one of her goons push a reporter to the ground the other day, and now she’s denigrating the kind of old school campaigning we want to see politicians engage in: going out to meet the voters at places like Fenway Park, which Scott Brown is out there doing…”
By insulting baseball fans and Fenway Park, Coakley has insulted baseball, hotdogs, apple pie, and Ted Williams. Even more importantly – she has proven that she does not even begin to comprehend this nation. She does not understand…
“...The one constant through all the years…has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It’s been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our pas… It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again….”
That is the basic difference between Democrats and Republicans. We believe in something. We believe in America, hotdogs, apple pie, and baseball. We could even be the best looking political party!

Would someone please explain to The Pink Flamingo just why the State Department, White House, and the MSM are neither confirming or denying the fact that al Qaeda attempted to kill Hillary Clinton while she was in Kenya in August.
It doesn’t take rocket science to figure out that the Dems, esp. the Obama Administration and their MSM flunkies do not seem to react all that favorably toward women who may be in power some day. In fact, when one considers how Hillary Clinton has been treated as Secretary of State (the now invisible cabinet post) compared to Condi Rice, something just isn’t kosher here. Look at how Sarah Palin has been treated.
The Pink Flamingo wrote:
“…If she was targeted and Onsarigo revealed the story, the Obama Administration did not react fast enough. If it is true, they should be all over it, condemning the terrorists and thanking the security forces who prevented a horrific incident. No matter how one feels about Hillary Clinton, as the Secretary of State, a former US Senator, and the former First Lady of the United States, she deserves a tremendous amount of respect and consideration. To ignore a threat, if it occured reflects badly on the Obama Administration...”
Anyone who has followed the Hillary assassination attempt and the Obama Administration’s complete “ignorance” of it, should not be surprised over their reaction to the Hot Pants Bomber . Rick Moran has an interesting take. I’m not sure which way to go on this, but I don’t know if incompetence is the whole thing.
Are we dealing with incompetence, complacency, stupidity, or a group of people who are so pathetic in their hatred of all things George W. Bush that they would rather allow Americans to lose their lives than admit he was right?
The Pink Flamingo has repeatedly this week stated that something about this attempted man made disaster just doesn’t pass the smell test. First, we learn that the CIA has been tracking our little bomber for months. Then we learn that a smartly dressed Pakistani helped Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab on to the plane. This is about an Administration who is incapable of connecting the dots on Terror.
There is one question The Pink Flamingo wants to ask. Is it possible Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab had help getting on those planes. I’m not talking “little help” but someone in a position of a little bit of power who let this guy get through check-points? Right now the Obama Administration is looking like a bunch of Keystone Cops. There goes that Smell Test.
Who let this kid slip through dogs, scans, check-lists, etc with a bomb?
Do you really think an alienated, depressed, possibly suicidal young man could slip through security without some “inside” assistance?
While we are are asking questions, perhaps it is time to suspend the religious rhetoric and get back to some basics. Look at the guy’s profile:
Umm….where have we seen these characteristics before? Want to be a little bit honest here? Like The Pink Flamingo says, dump the religious angle. We’re dealing with the same personality profile as two young men who destroyed a school in Colorado. It is the same profile of a young man who goes on a rampage on a college campus in Virginia.
The only difference – this time the father tried to warn authorities that his son was up to no good.
What if we are dealing with some truly evil master minds who are manipulating disturbed, obsessed, depressed, alienated, and possibly suicidal young men into doing something for their “religion”?
Which is more frightening?
We think the implications of Islamic terror are horrifying, but what if there are much greater implications – an entire generation of young men, the world over, who have the same profile, irregardless of religion?
Jasper Schuringa knows more about fighting terror than Barack Obama. And – it is paying off for him, which it should!
Case in point.
Did you know John McCain is one of the most vocal opponents to Barack Obama and his policies? Want to know what the real problem is with the far right?
“…But in the year since that evening of comity and collegiality, McCain has emerged as one of the leading critics of the new president. On foreign policy, his traditional area of expertise, and domestic affairs, where McCain has shown new passion, the 72-year-old Arizonan is making it plain that he has no plans to serve out his years in the rank-and-file, as a politician known more for what he lost than what he will yet accomplish.
For years, McCain relished being an outsider and a maverick, a style that often led to battles with his own party’s leadership. Today, for reasons that friends and McCain observers say could range from unresolved anger to concern for his right flank as he seeks re-election to genuine dismay about Obama’s agenda, he is helping lead a fiery crusade of GOP loyalists against Democratic priorities – and irked some of his Democratic colleagues in the process.
Few headlines have delighted The Pink Flamingo more than the announcment that Hollywood had decided that the Bushes knew how to entertain and the Obamas do not. The other night at the Kennedy Center awards, the Obamas ended up with many thumbs down!
Yes, there are more important problems in the world, but let’s be honest here and enjoy the moment. It will not last for long!
Let’s translate that a little. The George & Laura Bush have class. Barack & Michelle Obama are members of a party represented by an ass.
Just read this and enjoy every word of it!
“…Per custom, the five honorees waved to the audience in response to periodic ovations. They were seated adjacent to the presidential and vice presidential boxes. The president and first lady darted backstage at intermission to shake hands with featured performers — “quick shakes, no eye contact,” blurted one startled singer.
